32 MidiBox SID vs MonoMachine

YouTube via 7thDanSound | December 20, 2010 |

"This video is in response to a request from user SH4RCR4SH in the comments of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPu1Na... [posted here]

It's a comparison between some basic sounds from the MidiBox SID and the SID machine in the Elektron MonoMachine. I'd say they compare fairly well!

Longer version of the song at the end available here:

"This is a tune I've had in the MonoMachine for quite a while. Did a quick recording of it to accompany my MidiBox SID vs MonoMachine comparison video on YouTube. I will have to rework this piece before it can be properly released."

Sample and Reverb

YouTube via macbethsynthesizers | December 20, 2010 |

"Well here is a vid of me playing with a projected 5U Mk1 MacBeth Voltage Controlled Spring Reverberation module that will also feature Voltage Controlled Stereo Panning. I came across a lovely patch this morning using Sample and Hold from my analogue keyboard controller. It has two LFOs- I took a direct output from LFO 2 - S&H- and fed the control signal into the VC input of the spring reverb. So! I thought I'd record this stuff!
We have two Mk1 VCOs going into the Mk1 Filter 'A'- and they go into the VC Reverb. I'm also playing a Mk1 Oscillator 'B' into a Mk1 Filter 'B'- that is doing the bass stuff. There is my Korg CX-3 doing the organ stuff. All sounds abit strange..........but I hope you enjoy! Ken M"

Clock Capture Module - Synthrotek - Nintendo DS-10 & Analog Synth COMBINED!

YouTube via synthrotek | December 20, 2010 |

"Synthrotek's CCM allows you take the beat out of your DS-10 or computer or ipod (really anything that pans) and convert a beat into clock voltage. This allows the user to then connect the clock input into an analog sequencer, or really anything that takes clock voltage. Super rad, now you can perform with your DS-10 and your analog synths/gear. YESSS!!!"

"Amos is a reactive MIDI iPad instrument. It sends MIDI notes through a USB MIDI interface or over a wireless network to trigger sounds from software synths, MIDI-capable hardware or desktop DAWs like GarageBand, ProTools and Live.

In Amos's physics-simulated room, collisions between objects trigger MIDI notes. Up to three duration discs (half note, quarter note, eighth note) can be grabbed and thrown around the room. There are three 6-octave keyboards that can be configured via the Settings menu. When a disc strikes a keyboard key, it takes on that key‘s note value and emits that value for each collision until a new key is struck. Tilting the device controls the gravity in the room.

USB MIDI Requirements:
• iPad
• Apple iPad USB Camera Connection Kit
• Class-compliant USB MIDI interface

WiFi MIDI Requirements:
• A Mac, Linux, or Windows computer on the same WiFi network as your iPad
• A copy of the free DSMI Server running on your Mac, Linux, or Windows computer
• Some kind of MIDI capable desktop app (Garage Band, Pro Tools, Logic, Live, Sonar, etc.)"

"Tondo lets you create and manipulate audio in a new way: by painting sound on a radial sonogram. With Tondo, you can learn to create sound out of its simplest elements, and how rhythm, timbre, melody and harmony all are closely related.

*** SPECIAL END-OF-THE_YEAR-INTRODUCTORY-SALE! ***
This Brand Spankin' New program will put its price up on Jan 1st, 2011 so come 'n' get it!

The basic principle behind Tondo is that all sounds can be built by adding together very simple sounds (sinusoid waves) with varying frequencies and amplitudes. Tondo organizes this information in a way that is easy to manipulate, by painting with specialized tools. As you paint the sound , the corresponding audio is generated. At any point, you can save the information or the audio you have generated and export it in a number of ways.

Tondo can be used for making samples for other programs to use, rhythms and experimental explorations of sound.

You can export the information which defines the sound onto the clipboard, which you can then paste into documents, mail to friends, post on blogs

Crystal Tutorial 1

greenoakcrystal | December 14, 2010 |

"Crystal is a full featured semi-modular synthesizer, ideally suited to creating lush evolving soundscapes. Long a popular synthesizer on the desktop, it is now available for the iPad and iPhone.

For videos and information about Crystal, visit:
http://www.greenoak.com

Browse through the included sounds and use the 1 octave keypad to trigger notes to produce evolving, rhythmic, or melodic sounds. Create your own sounds with a single button press using the breed feature. When using an iPad, you can delve into a tweakers dream by using the extensive editing features to sculpt sounds to your heart's content.

Crystal features both subtractive synthesis and frequency modulation (FM) synthesis. It offers abundant modulation control with over 90 parameters which may be modulated, multi-stage envelopes with graphical editors, extensive tempo sync of envelopes/lforates/delay times, built-in effects for chorus/flanging/comb filtering/echoes, and a band splitter for effects processing by frequency band. Not only that, Crystal has wave sequencing and granular synthesis. The musical applications for Crystal are literally boundless.

There are two different versions of Crystal to choose from, Crystal and Crystal XT, so you can select the one that is best for you. Crystal is the basic version. With this version you can browse sounds, play notes, and create new sounds, taking advantage of its powerful semimodular synthesis engine.

Crystal XT (available soon for a premium price) adds MIDI keyboard input via the iPad's camera adapter and sharing of patches with the desktop version.

Crystal runs on both the iPad and the iPhone/iPod Touch. Because of the limited screen space on the iPhone however, the editing pages are not available when running on that device. But on the iPhone you can still browse sounds, play notes from the keypad, and create new sounds with the Breed feature."
