Synth-Project MC-20 Controller for Korgs iMS-20 App

via Synth-Project where you'll find more pics.

"The MC-20 Controller for the iPad has a 3 Octave Full Size Keyboard. So the size of the Case is nearly 1:1 of the original MS-20 Synthesizer.

The case has a iPad Slot to let the iPad inside the Case and you don´t need any place beside the case for the iPad.

The normal parameters are controlled by the USB64 Midi Interface from Doepfer, via Knobs and pots like the real Hardware Synth. To handle the patch cords, i use the iPad. I think, this will be a good way, because the patch sockets of the App and the VST Instrument too, have no Midi CC´s.

The Advantage is, that i can use with iPad App, the Sequencer and the Drum Machine of the App too. So i have a little so-called MS-20 „Workstation“. ;o)

In fact, that the iPad is inside the case, i have a StandAlone Synth."

rs95 and Tiptop Zeus

YouTube via soundxplorer | February 11, 2011 |

"The TipTop bus board produces a high-pitched whine when the rs95's Sine output is used. It also appears on the Tri output. In both cases the background noise is loudest when the shaping knob is at the center 12 'o clock position. The second half of the video uses a Doepfer Mini Case and the whine is gone. It is producing a nice strong sine wave."

NOISE MUSIC, what is (T. Tsang, a.k.a."Moogist"), 310-316

YouTube via timtsang3 | February 11, 2011 |

"If SOUND = generally audible and accepted (physical and cultural) forms of wave signals, and NOISE = disorder(ed), generally intrusive, unwanted (temporary or permanent) sound, and MUSIC = organized/ordered sound over time...

what, then,

is NOISE MUSIC?

.is noise simply added onto/into music, or
.does noise transform into music?
.if noise is simply added onto/into music, is it still noise - is it still music?
.if noise is transformed into music, at what point does that change occur?
...or does one just make noise..."

"Got microtonal markers that show where all the tone ratios lie. It creates visual interference patterns that tell you when a chord will sound "in tune". Notice that I am tuned to physical fourths rather than diatonic fourths. The idea is to be able to play *really* well fretlessly, and not even bother thinking about snapping until just about everything else works well."

Libpd latency demo

rrr00bb | February 12, 2011 |

"To contrast with the Mugician sound engine. I still haven't figured out how to get below 150ms or so of latency. But notice that the engine never drops, so the sound is clean (good sound quality in that sense). But it's late to pick up finger pitch and volume changes. It might be due to a simple mistake that I am making with libpd."

Oscilloscope

YouTube via JingleJoe | February 12, 2011 |

"Cor blimey I've got 4 oscilloscopes now! None of them function entirely perfectly though so together they make about 2 and a half fully functional oscilloscopes.

I got this one from a fantastic electronics shop I discovered recently. It's very old and uses valves / vacum tubes, I reckon it's from around 1950.
The trace seems to wander left and right of it's own accord however this isn't a big problem, you can still get it to show some nice wavey lines :)"
