Serge TKB Fun

YouTube Uploaded by djangosfire on Mar 30, 2012

"Just messing around, getting to know the Serge TKB (Touch Keyboard).

Focussed on a smoother tone this time.

A few patch notes in no particular order:

No filtering

Voice is a single NTO variable waveform out (set to mostly sine)

NTO out through top module of the Wave Multiplier, used as a simple VCA

PCO is patched through a DTG channel for simple voltage controlled FM of NTO

Clock is from DUSG, allowing for external CV of time

TKB is patched to "loop reset" at stage 4

TKB KP (Key Pulse out) is patched to reverse sequencer direction for the duration of any key touch

TKB allows for total sequence length control (starting stage) with each manual key touch

TKB row A is pitch of NTO

TKB 1st step gate out triggers a DTG falling ramp, which is passed through a CV Processor (with 3 different attenuated/tuned inputs - you can see me manually re-patch between the different inputs)

Then the "tuned falling wave" from the CV Pro out is sent through the Quantizer . . . . then back into the NTO for sequence pitch transposition

TKB row C is patched into the DUDG clock to "swing the time"

TKB row D is patched to the DTG CV input, controlling FM amount of PCO into the NTO"

"Laurie Spiegel, who composed a piece featured in The Hunger Games, in her New York apartment in the early 1970s, surrounded by musical equipment.

"A strange and fascinating piece of abstract electronic music surfaces in a key sequence in The Hunger Games. The track 'Sediment,' used to great effect during the movie’s 'cornucopia scene,' was composed in 1972 by pioneering composer Laurie Spiegel, who used an analog synthesizer [the Electrocomp EML-200] and old-school tape machines to create the sweeping, nine-minute epic."

"'No One Will Come To Save Us' was an experiment in analog electronic sound. All normal creative practices were thrown out in place of something more immediate. The whole collection was completed with the most minimal setup* possible and captured in such a way that it could not be altered after the original performance.

*x0xb0x, TR-808, Moog Prodigy, Grundig G5 (A shortwave radio), Line6 DL-4 pedal, TubeWorks RT-901 overdrive pedal, Alesis Ineko and a TC Electronics M300 all plugged into a small 10 channel mixer." [pic below]
