New Mini Arturia Synth In the Works

Arturi has posted teasers for what appears to be a new small hardware synth.
Update: Pics of a Micro-Brute here.

”I really love the sound of the original , and IT's got that character and can be even wilder. You can get all kinds of crazy and musical interactions going on with other analog gear and drum machines. Combine the two together and you're rocking…”
Adrian Utley
(Portishead)

”IT takes me back to the joy I felt when I pushed that first key and a saw wave spoke back to me. IT allows for more than 100% values of such things as keyboard tracking. IT melds the best in a compact little powerhouse.” Terry Lawless
(U2 and P!NK)

”Once again Arturia has given me the best of both worlds with IT. It's blowing minds at both my recordings session and in concert. The perfect compliment to my already diverse rig.” Roger Joseph Manning Jr
(The Moog CookBook, Jellyfish,
Imperial Drag, Beck)

”So Just when you think Arturia can't be any more practical than the Mini Brute. They bust you in the head with THIS.” Keith Shocklee
(Public Enemy)

”For me, a Synthesizer that has no presets is an adventure every time. IT is a recipe for audio joy. IT soon becomes a real electronic instrument, that develops with your knowledge and expertise” Chris Cross
(Ultravox)

”The small form factor is disproportionate to the massive sound you can get out of IT. Having used many Arturia soft synths, this is a great piece to transition from a laptop. Turn the switch and go.” Sandra Vu
(Dum Dum Girls, SISU)

”Big, ballsy sound! Arturia has another sonic monster on its hands!” André Bowman
(Will.I.Am)

”It's SMALL GIANT!
I love it!!” Hideki Matsutake

Cosmosƒ Plugin V2

Published on Oct 18, 2013 Sinan Bokesoy·33 videos

"a simple demonstration of Cosmosƒ Plugin V2. This upgrade goes to a structural change with huge sonic design possibilites. Every micro event and every meso event in Cosmosƒ has now its own synthesis engine with independent parameter control. You are free to choose any synthesis method and set parameters for each micro or meso event."

Elektron Jam Session #1

Published on Oct 18, 2013 Elektron·39 videos

"In this session, all audio is routed through the Octatrack. Analog Four's output goes into Octatrack's input CD and Machinedrum's output goes into input AB. Also, Monomachine is being fed through the Machinedrum to add some Distortion and Sample Rate Reducer.

Octatrack is set to be the Master, sending MIDI clock to all other units. It also sends Program Change messages. By doing so, other units will follow the Pattern Changes made on the Octatrack. This makes it really handy when playing with multiple Elektron units.

Most of the beat is made up on the Machinedrum with some additional Loops from Octatrack. Monomachine is making trippy synth sounds and some glitchy hihat sequence towards to end. Analog Four takes care of all the Bass, Lead and other squelchy synth sounds!

Enjoy!"

KOMA Elektronik RH301 as a master clock

Published on Oct 18, 2013 KOMA Elektronik·44 videos

"In this video we show the KOMA RH301 as a master clock for a small mixed MIDI and analog clock setup. The master clock signal of the RH301 is routed from MIDI OUT to the MIDI IN of the JOMOX XBase 09, of which the MIDI THRU is connected to the KORG Volca keys. The audio of the KORG Volca keys is being modulated and filtered by the KOMA Elektronik FT201 Filter / Sequencer, using the RH301's clock, LFO and envelope generator outputs.

optocoupler based dual ladder VCF - testing

Published on Oct 17, 2013 cirtcele·97 videos

"Listen with good headphones or speakers - lots of bottom end!
This circuit is still quite rough and I haven't settled on all the component values yet. It uses dual opto-coupler ICs - LED to transistor - to form two ladder VCFs. One is a diode ladder similar to the EMS design, the other is similar to the TB-303 transistor ladder, with many parts left off.
The diode ladder gets the audio input and the LEDs transfer the audio over to the transistor ladder, so both VCFs run in parallel but can be tweaked individually. The PCB version will have individual freq CV inputs and a 'both' CV input.
The outputs will be available separately plus a mixed output and possibly a difference output; only allowing the parts that are different between the two signals. It goes without saying the mixed output simply blows chunks!"

FS1a vs. e560

Published on Oct 17, 2013 Stephen Drake·39 videos

"This is a quick and dirty comparison of the Jurgen Haible FS1a frequency shifter and the Synthesis Technology e560 Deflector Shield frequency shifter. I've been asked a number of times to describe the differences/similarities between these two devices, and thought perhaps a quick video would provide some answers. The FS1a is an all analog device; the e560, all digital. Bruce Duncan of Modcan has said that this is one device that is better suited for a digital implementation, as while the analog version is really complex to design and build, and has numerous compromises, the digital version can be designed around the software code, which is quite easy to implement. However, the Jurgen Haible design is perhaps the best analog version of a frequency shifter yet, and I think it stands up well against its digital brother.

This demo isn't perfect - I didn't spend forever getting all the audio levels right, and matching the way the different effects worked, so you get what you get. I only basically demo three aspects of how one might use these devices. During the stereo panning demo, I may have the settings on the FS1a wrong.

This isn't really a fair comparison, as the Jurgen Haible FS1a isn't actually available as a commercial product, and even as a DIY project it's virtually unobtainium - Jurgen Haible passed away in 2011, and the pcbs for it aren't available currently, and may never be. The e560 is available in eurorack format currently, and sometimes in DIY format, which is how I've built mine behind a 5U panel."
