Super PH01IIs Pluckin'

Published on Sep 15, 2014 Chris McDowell

"One PH01II modulates the frequency of 2 VCOs and a second PH01II, which triggers an envelope."

"The PH01II is a knob recorder. It records the movement of the DC knob into a loop, and outputs that movement as a 0-5V control voltage (and displays the output via the led). The Rate knob adjusts the playback speed (or loop length, however you want to think about it.) The record button overwrites whatever is in the loop with the current position of the DC pot, allowing for complex sequences with just a little clicking and twiddling. Loop length goes from ~18 seconds to over 500Hz.

PH01II also features:

Sync In (rising edge restarts the loop)

Sync Out (5V pulse at the start of the loop)

CV Input (0-5V) for the rate of the loop.

The PH01II is 6hp and runs on the 5V bus of your euro power supply."

7 Minutes with a Ipad Synth - Epic Synth

iTunes: Epic Synth analog synthesizer for AudioBus - JPMartineau

"Today it's the Epic Synth from JPMartineau

Epic Synth is a polyphonic analog-like synthesizer inspired by classic synths of the 1980s. Its beautiful and straightforward interface lets you focus on the essential: the pleasure of creating new sounds! Supports AudioBus.

Epic Synth's simple and effective sound architecture stood the test of time. It's simple enough for beginners to learn about synthesis yet powerful enough to satisfy experienced sound modellers. Epic Synth's sound engine provides tons of room to create great sounds, from classic leads to juicy acid basses, from 8-bit-like effects to complex evolving sonic textures."

"Here we have again the VCFQ as central module in the patch. All what we hear except the miewing (filtered FMed NTO) and the high-tone, noisy pulsations (filtered WAD) is produced by the VCFQ. One is driven by the SSG, the other is a kind of deep heart pulsation beating in the background."

HackMe - Vectr - First Patches

Published on Sep 15, 2014 DivKidMusic

"Not a full overview in my usual style but just a quick video to show some of the first patches I've been having fun with controlling the modular with the HackMe Vectr. Patch note below -

Patch 1

Neutron Sound - Orgone Accumulator (overview coming soon) oscillator output (no modulation on the oscillator) into Make Noise Echophon with the X position on the Vectr modulating echo pitch, Y position modulating echo time and Z position modulating the mix amount. The Echophon output is into a Doepfer A-199 spring reverb with the original spring tank and a mix below 9 o'clock.

Only other movement except my hand over the Vectr is turning on and off the freeze on the echophon.

Patch 2

The sound source here is Mutable Instruments - Braids with the output through the Make Noise Echophon for some basic echo. The X and Y from the Vectr go into the Braids Timbre and Colour modulation. Additional control was from a Make Noise - Pressure Points & Brains combo with attenuated voltages going into an ADDAC 207 Quantizer then finally a Manhattan Analog - CVP for pitch and glide into Braids. I flick through the VFOF, Detuned Saws, Fold and Sync modes on Braids."
