Erebus Dreadbox and others Night Jam 2

Published on Oct 14, 2015 Synthbug

"Playing and tweaking the Erebus Dreadbox triggered by the Roland JD-Xi. Master sync from is from the Roland TR-8 sending clock to the Elektron Octatrack to the JD-Xi then notes sequenced from the JD-Xi are sent to the Erebus. This is more of a practice Jam just to get a feel for the Erebus since it is one of the newest members of my setup.

Same Jam as previous video but recording again with higher quality audio. Performed a little different. This is just a Jam feeling things out."

Short minimal jam. 3 parts synth with no overdubs, and no drums mucking about this time. Little reverb, little delay from Big Sky and Timefactor. Thanks for watching, be sure to subscribe."

Dave Smith Instruments Retires their First Synth, the Evolver, the Mopho Series, and the Tetra

It's hard to believe it, but Dave Smith is retiring the Evolver, his first new hardware synth under the DSI brand, along with the Mopho series and the Tetra. The discontinuation of the Evolver marks the end of an era. I'm actually the proud owner of Evolver SN #132! I remember the excitement when Dave Smith re-entered the hardware synthesizer scene with the Evolver. It offered four oscillators, two digital with waveforms from the classic Sequential Circuits Prophet-VS, two analog, Curtis analog filters, effects, and four sequencers that could drive each oscillator separately as well as a multitude of destinations. It was, and still is, an incredibly powerful synthesizer. I snatched mine when it was first released.

via Dave Smith Instruments:

"We’re retiring some of our much-loved but mature products — namely, Mopho, Mopho Keyboard, Mopho Keyboard SE, Tetra, and Evolver. While each of these instruments is something of a classic in its own right, and each has found its place in countless studio recordings and stage performances, a time comes when every good synth deserves its place in the great electronic retirement community in the sky.

If you ever wanted to add any of these highly-regarded instruments to your arsenal, get them now before they’re gone. Find a DSI dealer here or contact sales@davesmithinstruments.com."

As always be sure to check with the dealers on the right!

Smomid Universe. A Network of Instruments

Published on Oct 14, 2015 nicnut210

"The Smomid Universe is a network of several midi devices that are primarily used as musical instruments. All instruments in this family utilize the same technology and mostly the same sensors, but are scaled for different applications, sizes and methods of interfacing.

The Smomid is a guitar-like interface, the Pyramidi is a triangular box-like interface and the Smoment is a table top guitar type interface.
