Vagabond Prototype First Wiggle

"One of the people who attended the Toronto Sound Festival brought a prototype of a synth he had developed called the Vagabond. It is all analog, very small form factor and has some interesting features. He loaned it to me for a few days to see what I thought of it and I told him I would gladly buy the prototype. I hope he continues with its development."

A Dave Smith Instruments (Sequential Circuits) Pro 2, Olympia Noise Company Patterning app, a Moog Sub 37 and an Eventide H9 make a great, relatively compact performance setup. This is just a small example of some of the places you can go with it.

The Pro 2 is the heart of the system. 41 modulation slots (busses), a 16 track sequencer and massive CV capabilities give it the power to extensively control itself, and other gear.

Everything is clock-synced. The Sub 37’s filter is modulated by a CV step sequence from the Pro 2. This is synced to, but independent of the track that sequences the Pro 2’s internal sound engine.

The Eventide H9 is clocked the same, and does some nice magic when it picks up sharp filter events from the Sub 37 audio.

"The long long long overdue EWI and modular video again with David Hogan playing the EWI (Electronic Wind Instrument from Akai) with midi to CV coming from the Vermona qMI.

This is kept deliberately simple in terms of patching as I wanted to show off the quality of the AJH Minimod (video for the Oscillator here - [see this post] ) as a full voice. Which is totally AWESOME! Highly recommended not only for a great clone of a Minimoog Model D but just as a very solid and gorgeous sounding fully analogue synth voice.
