"During the Betatest of the firmware 1.71 of our Spectralis 1, I produced this little piece of music. I strong believe in the fact, that most bugs occur during the normal work and not when you try to locate problems. I did that music already in January 2016. I liked the patterns so much, that I played some Accelerator overdubs and created a complete song from that patterns. However - I never did a video for it and I thought, the time is right to do something for the track. I used some footage I shoot with my mobile phone and my DSLR in Manhatten a couple of years ago. A big thank you to all these people who walked backwards for my footage. That was a great help to create something special ;-)"

Volca FM Keystep PO-12 Cuckoo Jam

"Hello everyone! (ps: chapters below, in description)
Here's an unedited real-time recording of 6 jams using the Korg Volca FM, the Arturia Keystep MIDI keyboard, the Teenage Engineering PO-12 drum machine, and some minor, but important use of the iOS app Midiflow to route and filter MIDI between the device. In this case I also to used Midiflow to convert the Mod wheel to the VolcaFM's Velocity (cc41).

I decided to keep it unedited to show curious watchers the complete workflow, and also to highlight how fun the Keystep is! I love the sequencer, the arpeggio, the easy-to-access note gate and and swing. This is all made with musicians in mind. It's great to make a basic sequencer on the Volca. And then use the Keystep to play with its own sequencer on top of the Volca. And in the end freestyle while both of the sequencers are running. Great fun!

The Volca FM sound is wonderful. It really is wonderful. I think some FM synthesis at times tend to sound artificial and hard on your brain. But KORG has done a wonderful job, creating a warm and lovely FM engine. You can still go crazy with FM overtones, but it just sounds "right".
