JX-03 + RK-002 with /DUY Sketch to Transpose Sequences

Published on Jan 17, 2018 Retrokits

"Apart from the existing RK-002 firmwares for the Volca sample, FM, Kaossilator, Digitakt,... The 'DUY' is a new RK002 firmware which is able to run Arduino sketches.

We have shown some small examples on various channels, Euclidean generators, CC-to-Sysex converters,... and this is a more simple example of a MIDI hack: converting note-numbers to pitch-bend data. Turns out pretty nice on the JX-03!"

If you choose to do this! be smart and careful, im in no way responsible for you being a dumbass and frieing your insides, ive made it pretty obvious its LETHAL :)

A list of modules used!

both channels went into the ALM O/A/X2 useful, because you could offset and invert the signals. for both channels!

for one channel (X AXIS) i used :-
Instruo troica (a great bank of 3 oscillators, i just fm’d them together to make different sorts of odd)
ALM Pamelas new workout for some more stuff ontop of those 3 oscillators talking to each other

for the other channel (Y AXIS) i used :-
Befaco VCO.. good to use the large range of octaves available on the octave switch
Happy Nerding FMAID this was really cool to make the waveform make more patterns!

Also at the end the weird 3d shape was a MOFFENZEEF MODULAR MUSKRAT, going into both channels!
the 3d look was me just adjusting the parameters on the muskrat!

Andrew duff suggested to look at the FONITRONIK CASCADE at thonk:-

along with a complex oscillator like the make noise DPO.

Update: RackBrute review: Link system explained on the new Arturia Rack Brute

Published on Jan 17, 2018 loopop

Note there are no modules, just the cases. The bottom of the stands attacked to the new MiniBrute 2 and 2S.  Curious if Arturia will be producing eurorack modules over time.

The press release:

"Grenoble-based hardware and software synth specialists Arturia are proud to announce the imminent release of RackBrute, a Eurorack modular storage, power, and transport system.
Following the announcement of the new MiniBrute 2 and MiniBrute 2S synthesizers, RackBrute is the third and final product of the series, and will be available at stores worldwide from March 2018. RackBrute is a dedicated Eurorack case crafted from sturdy steel and aluminium, with many innovative enhancements. Each unit features a dedicated power module to keep your precious gear supplied with +12V / -12V / +5V power, the handle can be calibrated to act as a multi-position stand, letting you use your Eurorack modules in whatever position you find most comfortable.

RackBrute comes in two sizes: a smaller 3U, 88HP version, and a larger 6U, 176HP version. Whatever size your collection, your modules will be housed in the most economic, efficient way possible.

RackBrute completes a versatile, customizable, creative EcoSystem bridging the gap between traditional synthesizers and the world of modular thanks to the new Arturia Link system found on both the MiniBrute 2 and MiniBrute 2S to lock in place. When using RackBrute in combination with MiniBrute or MiniBrute 2S, everything is laid out before you, breaking down all barriers for your experimentation and inspiration.

When you need to pack away for storage, or to transport your whole setup for a gig, RackBrute can pack down into a handy transport mode, with a sturdy carry handle and spacers to prevent any collision between the RackBrute and the other attached hardware. A stylish RackBrute Travel Bag is also available to keep your precious cargo scratch, splash, and dust free.

If you’d like to get hands on MiniBrute 2, MiniBrute 2S and RackBrute, find Arturia at NAMM 2018. We’ll be at booth #11910. We can’t wait to see you."

Dave Smith Instruments In The Spotlight With the Prophet-6 and Warren Walker of The Kandinsky Effect

You can find the full interview on DSI's website here.

"Warren Walker was raised in the rural Northern California gold rush town of Grass Valley. He became enamored with music at a young age, and by his early teens he was performing on jazz and blues gigs with his guitarist father, Thomas Walker.

Walker earned a BM from the University of Nevada’s rigorous jazz program, where he studied with stellar musicians such as Peter Epstein, David Ake, Hans Halt, Andy Heglund, and Larry Engstrom. After graduation, Walker lit out for Europe to pursue his career as a musician. In February, 2007, he settled in Paris, France and quickly forged ties with some of that city’s most adventurous players. In Paris, Walker formed the Warren Walker Trio (renamed The Kandinsky Effect), and began performing and touring internationally with it and other projects.

Walker maintains an international presence through various groupings with international tour schedules; including The Kandinsky Effect, oddAtlas, Collektor, and TwinLux.

We chatted with Warren about how he’s using the Prophet-6."
