Sequential In The Spotlight Interview With Florian Fourlin

You can find an interview on Sequential's website here.

"Florian Fourlin is a singer-songwriter, pianist, saxophonist, and producer from Paris, France. He’s an artist with wide-ranging influences. In 2015, after spending years recording, touring and playing with international artists as a both a session and live musician, he began crafting what would be his first solo album — on which he sings, plays every instrument, produces, and mixes every song. This three year- long process would have him step away from the saxophone to put his own voice at the center of his music while exploring new genre-bending soundscapes. The music video for his first single, Levels, was released in July 2018. The album will be released in early 2019."

BURG - Koda #Subsequent37 #AvalonBassline #Drumbrute #NovationPeak #Digitakt

"If you like my stuff please support me on http://music.ollilab.com/ and https://www.patreon.com/theBURG

I hope i didnt scare you guys off with my previous ACID mayhem, haha. :) Here is a classic BURG tune, fresh from the oLLiLaboratories studio.

Now that i have the new layout ready, it was time to take the BURG spaceship for a ride. It feels really optimized at this point of time which makes me really happy.

On this track i wanted to avoid using the modular, e.g just going back to basics and work the other gear for a bit.. also i was very keen on trying out the Drumbrute impact and novation peak properly in the new setup. It worked out pretty well.

Gear Used:

* KORG grandstage + eventide space, CSIDMAN, Ditto 2X (piano and intro reverse loop)
* Moog Subsequent 37 + Space Echo, Strymon BlueSky (arpeggiator)
* Nord Lead A1 (slow arpeggiator pad, running free)
* Novation Peak + Keystep, (HPF Stabs)
* TR-8s (cymbals and Sidechain FX on volcas)
* Drumbrute Impact + Strymon El Cap (hihats, FM drum and clap)
* Digitakt (main kick + various percussion and a couple of dub stabs)
* Analog Four (end melody, mid track sequence + sequencer/FX for 0 coast)
* MakeNoise 0-coast, hollow sound bassline
* vBASS, low end bass line
* Avalon Bassline + FX in analog four (well, another bassline) :)
* vKEYS + ms-70 CDR (lead sound)
* KORG Kaoss Pad KP3+ (ambient samples + delays on insert on percussion)

I hope you will enjoy this one!

Ps, please make sure to ring the subscription bell to make sure you get updates on each new video.

BooOooM!"

Modor Noisy Oscillator, Comb Filter & Formant Filter // Synthfest 2018

Published on Oct 29, 2018 DivKidVideo

"The NF-1 from Modor always has me gassing for some digital synth action and it's great to see them enter the eurorack market too. The Formant filter is out now but Modor also had the new Noisy Oscillator and Comb Filter on show at Synthfest so here's a quick demo with a few sounds from the new units."

"They don't get much rarer than this. Hen's teeth, etc. On Throbbing Gristle's last performance in San Francisco I watched Peter perform almost solely on this little device (same model, not the exact same synth), and he just about burst my eardrums.

From The Internet:

The bC16 can be cryptic at first, with no printed layout to describe the functions of the knobs, no description of the 25 patch points and just three blinking lights. But that's the whole of the bC16-experimentation. You can try just about any connection point with one of the ten provided 2mm mini banana patch cords. After a while you get very accustomed to this micro-modular. Lets face it, with 1 ADSR, 1 LFO, 1 VCA, and 1 VCO (actually two linked VCO's) you can't really lose yourself. For its bargain price it's also a very good contender for use with other modular or semi-modular systems to add flexibility to them-need a resettable LFO for your MS-20? You got one here. Want a second ADSR for your Sherman Filterbank? You can find one in the bC16 (although you would have to make your own mini banana adapter). The bC16 is battery powered via six AAA batteries or by an external 9 to 12v source.

The linked oscillator is a very clever way to have two oscillators without another bundle of knobs. One VCO knob can adjust how detuned they are while another knob selects which waveform you want for both, or in some combination. Because the bC16 is battery powered, the VCO responds to a unique 0.586v/octave (5v/8.5 octave=0.586v/octave) control voltage signal. All the other modules respond to a more typical +/- 5v signal. The headphone amp is very noisy, though you can get around that when recording by using a mini-banana adapter to use the direct output of the voltage-controlled amp.

But beware, while it can do some basic synth applications, its main strength is to provide a powerful array of synth-FX sounds. Because of the ability of the synth to run by itself, you don't necessarily need a MIDI connection to make sounds with this tiny modular. And there's a lot of fun to be had with it-keep your sampler handy to sample whatever weird sounds you may find. For its price, it's a great and versatile device, which you can learn from without costing yourself an arm and a leg."

GRP Synthesizer R24 Sequencer

"the grp r24 is a 8x3 analog step sequencer firmly based on the mighty step sequencer previously developed in grp a8 and a4 analog synthesizers. the new r24 is full of control capability with cv/gate, midi and usb connections. hardware-wise, is stand-alone self powered, with hardware compatibility for mount on 5u module format; you can use in stand alone with its internal power, or you can install in your dot.com/cotk/moon modular system. r24 respects electrical and mechanical standards for the above manifacturers.

with the appropriate brackets included in the package the machine can be easily installed in a 19 "rack still, you can use r24's own cabinet as a "presto-cabinet" for powering and using your spare 5u modules. r24 has 64 internal memories for store and retrieve separate sequences; each sequence can be set in 8x2, 16+8 or 24 mode, with any step lenght user's selectable. r24 can act as cv/gate sequencer or as midi sequencer, with separate rows for midi note selection and for key velocity step adjust."

Studio Electronics Boomstar 5089 - Upgraded! SN

"This was recently sent to Studio Electronics for a “Non-MKII Reface Makeover.” This involves factory tuning, cleaning, firmware upgrade, switching all pots to metal-shafted, and re-voicing to MKII standards. They also updated the knob caps to the nicer ones, and we have added color caps to the smaller knobs along the bottom. This might not exactly be a Boomstar MKII, but is is very close to it. Sounds insane."
