"The OB-Xa is a massive analog synthesizer with a very familiar and classic Oberheim sound. Its sound, size and power are very similar to the from Sequential. However this one has up to 8 voices which can be split, layered and stored!

The OB-Xa was available in four, six or eight voice polyphonic models. They all featured patch memories, also in varying degrees. A minimum of 32 patches were available on early models (4 banks of 8). The maximum amount of patch memory storage found on many OB-Xa's is 120 patch memories. All models of OB-Xa, however, featured the new Curtis chips which offered great stability for an analog synth and they are attributed to its great filters and sounds."

"The Titan of polyphonic analogue synthesisers. The Jupiter 8 is the golden child of Roland's legacy in professional electronic instruments, featuring 16 analogue oscillators at 2 per voice, eight voice polyphony, split-able 61 key keyboard, 2-pole (12 dB/oct) or 4-pole (24 dB/oct) filter modes, and 64 patch presets that can store keyboard splits, arpeggiator settings, voice assign mode, hold, portamento and modulation settings.

Made in Japan. Excellent condition given the age, this unit has the 14-bit D/A converter, which offers increased resolution of the CV voltages that control the analogue circuitry. Fully serviced prior to sale. Includes the original Stamford hard shell case."

"Brilliant synth, as long as you don't expect it to be an OB-XA.....Instead, it has to be considered for what it is: a Virtual Analog with a whole lot of possibilities. Strong points are it's pads, basses and particularly it's weirdo sounds. Viscount have really good VA technonlogy, just look at their organs and more recently their acoustic and electric piano simulations. Real-time performance accessoiries are great: phrase recorder, arp, motion recorder and the ribbon controller which alows you to control 2 parameters at a time. Important: the hold function of the ribbon controller actually works on this instrument. Most OB-12's have a none working hold function.
This synth got a lot of negative critics and opinions when it came out, because people expected an Oberheim OB series...which it isn't. It has a personality of it's own, very organic and that is why they are starting to be highly thought of. It is, IMHO, also one of the most beautiful synths ever made. Moreover, there were not a lot of them manufactured..."

"Absolute beast of a synth, with plenty off cv patch points. Includes original packaging, along with patch cables, power supply, and I'm throwing in the Moog CP-3 Expression Pedal, for hands free CV control."

Eurorack: Ukulele into Clouds + Basimilus Iteritas Alter

Published on Mar 11, 2020 lucafrancinimusic

"The drone note is a plucked ukulele string (captured by a piezo pickup into Ears module) which I stored in Clouds buffer. The pitch of the note is modulated by Marbles X section. I have manually tuned the pitch of Basimilus Iteritas Alter to get a bass note, triggered by Marbles t2 (no random skipping beats).
Marbles is receiving the clock from Pamela's New Workout.
I don't have any VCA modules yet so I've used the Dry/Wet blend knob on Clouds to balance the levels of the drone and the bass.
A very simple patch, but quite relaxing and hypnotic imo."
