"The modules functions include a 5 step phase shifter, audio delay (512 step BBD with 0.3ms - 7ms delay time), gate delay (doubles as a pulse shifter, and LFO (0.04Hz - 10Hz range for superb ensemble or stereo effects)."

Recreating Buchla 208 Music Easel with Endorphin.es Shuttle System

video by Endorphin.es

"Today we are recreating a Buchla 208 Music Easel with the @Endorphin.es Shuttle System and with help of the internal generators of the Shuttle Control and @Ableton Live & M4L (Sting! M4L sequencer by @skinnerbox):
https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/sting...
Shuttle Control can produce multiple types of random, different types of envelopes, which are also sensitive to velocity. Additionally you can gain control over internal generators using MIDI CC messages coming from any type of controller.
Finding a balance between chaos and control inspired by @Todd Barton sound design explorations.
Explore, have fun and don't forget to press the record button!"

80s Vintage Studio Tour 2021 Espen Kraft | I am the 80s!

video by Espen Kraft

"I wrongly refer to the Yamaha TX816 as TX116, that would only be true if you have ONE TF-1 module within the frame, this has all eight of them, thus a TX816.

If you're wondering why I have no acoustic treatment in this room, my answer is... I don't need it in here. I never mix loud, I have the one side roof at a steep angle and I have a semi-thick carpet on the floor. When I record my vocals I usually but have some thick fabric behind ME, not behind the mic. I did run a commercial studio once where I actually HAD acoustic treatment in both the studio itself and the control room. I can't say my OWN music sounded any better back then really and I do the same music now. ;-)"

FM Synthesis With The Hydrasynth Friday Fun - Interview with ASM's Glen Darcey

video by sonicstate

"In today's Friday Fun, we took some ideas from a chat with the Hydrasynth's product designer Glen Darcey in regards to the instrument's FM capabilities through the Linear-FM Mutator.

Aside from some of the more common FM piano type voices, Nick worked up a few more examples.

Moog Subsequent 25 INHALT Artist Bank Demo

video by INHALTVIDEO

"Download this bank at:
http://inhalt.bigcartel.com

Custom sound bank of 64 patches for the Moog Subsequent 25 analog synthesizer programmed by professional sound designer Matia Simovich / INHALT (Sequential, Elektron, Roland, Novation, Akai Pro ...).

This Artist Bank traverses 64 classic sounds intrinsic to the Moog history. Basses that reference the Moog Source and Model D, sequences and modulations that hint at Moog Modulars, and even sounds that buzz and breath like the Oberheim SEM (thanks to the 12dB filter mode).

Meticulously sound designed and programmed to exude the vintage mood and playability of analog mono synths, this library is full of patches that will give you all the core sounds you expect from the Moog name."

Roland EM-101 Sound Plus - filter mod

video by wildchurch

"video in two parts:
1. brief demonstration of filter adjustment
2. multi-tracked piece (all EM-101 except drums)

--------------------------------------------------------------
the Roland EM-101 is an analog sound module from the mid-80s
it's all about preset sounds and has very basic MIDI functionality
there are 2 banks: ensemble (polyphonic) and solo (monophonic)
there's also a 3rd hidden bank accessed through a button press/power on combination

the EM-101 is paraphonic and any VCF adjustment requires opening the case to access trim pots
i've simply replaced these with potentiometers mounted to the front panel

while this allows adjustment to the sounds, it's not a particularly practical solution from a playing point of view
the available space to mount the pots is very tight making it too fiddly for musical adjustments

a better solution would be a break out box with a decent cable length so the controls could be positioned ergonomically
in addition, this could incorporate switch jack sockets for foot pedal control (especially for the ensemble voices)

depending on selected preset, the filter has variable impact on the sound, from barely noticeable to harsh self-oscillation
it's impact is most evident on the solo voices but it can also give a pleasing sizzle to some ensemble sounds"
