"Often compared to Oberheim Xpander due to a similar matrix routing system and same filter chips. Very rare. Perfect working and physical condition.
Comes with memory card and a breakout box for 6 individual voice outs.
Readable but a bit pale, squeeky display (common thing on these)."

Worldwide Rights to Oberheim Trademark Returned to Tom Oberheim

You might remember Music Tribe lost the trademark dispute with Tom Oberheim over the Oberheim brand name in the US earlier this year. Tom Oberheim has now obtained worldwide rights to the brand name thanks to Uli, Behringer, and the Music Tribe team. Credit when credit is due. It's important to know it would have made business sense for Behringer to own the name, hence why they registered the trademark when it originally lapsed per the previous post. They eventually lost the trademark in the US when Tom contested it, however they held on to the rights outside of the US. They have now given those remaining rights back to Tom.

The press release follows:

Worldwide Rights to Oberheim Trademark Returned to its Founder

Synthesizer pioneer Tom Oberheim regains his name worldwide thanks to Music Tribe

Orinda, California— August 3, 2021 — Tom Oberheim announced today that after 36 years, the worldwide rights to the Oberheim trademark are now back with its founder.

Tom Oberheim started Oberheim Electronics in 1970 and through the ‘70s and ‘80s became one of the most revered and recorded makers of polyphonic analog synthesizers. After many years of success, Oberheim Electronics had to file bankruptcy in May of 1985 when its lender decided to no longer fund the company, and all of Oberheim’s trademarks and other assets were sold off by the bank. In 1988, Gibson acquired the rights to the Oberheim name, and for about twenty years produced Oberheim-brand products independent of Tom.

In 2009, Tom was encouraged by many musicians to re-enter the synthesizer market, resulting in a new generation of the SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module) based on his original SEM design from 1974. This quickly evolved into a range of SEM-based products over the next several years.

In 2019 Tom was able to bring all of the Oberheim trademarks in the USA and several countries back into his name. In several other countries, Music Tribe Global Brands Ltd. owned registrations for the Oberheim trademarks.

“I was very happy after all these years to have regained ownership of some of the Oberheim trademarks,” said Tom Oberheim, Oberheim’s founder. “This led to the hope that someday I would be able to use my own name in all countries where the Oberheim trademark exists, so we contacted Music Tribe.”

“Tom Oberheim is a pioneer of analog synthesizers, and our whole industry owes him a debt of gratitude for his innovations,” said Uli Behringer, Founder of Music Tribe. “When we learned that Tom was still interested in making his own products with his original name, we knew the right thing to do was to transfer all of our Oberheim registrations back to him.”

“Thanks to Uli and the team at Music Tribe and Behringer, I own the worldwide rights to my name for the first time since 1985,” added Tom. “It is a wonderful homecoming, and it is a thrill to once again be able to have the Oberheim name and logo placed on my products.”

Tom recently shipped a small production run of a new TVS-Pro Special Edition model, which are the first synthesizers from Tom to carry the Oberheim brand in many decades."

Luke Slater, Anthony Child, Tom Moth | DIALOGUE#2

"Visual capture of the DIALOGUE process. Music performed by Luke Slater, Anthony Child and Tom Moth, mixed by Luke Slater at Spacestation Ø. Music taken from Luke Slater with Anthony Child, KMRU, Lady Starlight, Speedy J & Tom Moth | DIALOGUE out June 25, 2021 [download] | August 2021 [2x12"] on A-TON [A-TON LP13] Buy the album: https://berghain.berlin/dialogue Listen at Bandcamp: https://a-ton.bandcamp.com/album/dial... DIALOGUE was conceived as a series of musical letters written back and forth between Luke Slater, Anthony Child (aka Surgeon), KMRU, Lady Starlight, Speedy J and harpist Tom Moth (of Florence + the Machine) at the height of the pandemic between 2020 and early 2021. Using the common language of rhythmic ambient electronics, each DIALOGUE features three actors in a sonic conversation of longform improvisation between 15 and 25 minutes in length, with Luke Slater the common denominator. The results are a brooding, psychedelic exchange of melody, texture, bass, oscillation, key changes and volume swells, which organically merge into complete compositions. It’s music that both reflects and transcends the artists' common reality of isolation – a meditative, consciousness-expanding conversion of musical ideas born from necessity. Cosmic but not escapist. And very much of its time. Modification
For the people that know this System
has the following issue
The jack inputs are plastic and are very easy to break
so we decided to replace all the jacks with high quality Amphenol with metal housing
A plastic ring is added on each of them to avoid ground issues

The unit tested and calibrated from our tech to the best of his knowledge
There is no service manual but he has found easily all the issues"
