KORG ARP ODYSSEY FS KIT Incoming

"Become a part of the legacy with the ARP ODYSSEY FS Kit.

In 2015, ARP’s history was thrust into the spotlight with the revival of the ARP Odyssey. Synth fans around the world were ecstatic–authentic reissues of some of the most iconic and legendary ARP synthesizers would finally be revealed. From the ARP ODYSSEY FS with its full-size keyboard, to the long awaited ARP 2600 FS and ARP 2600 M, ARP synths once again stood at the forefront of the modern music scene.

Now, with the release of the ARP ODYSSEY FS Kit, musicians are empowered to take the ARP legacy into their own hands.

Staying true to the ARP Odyssey FS, the kit uses the exact analog circuitry, preserving the original warm and rich sounds we’ve all grown to love. The kit also features all the original specs of the Rev. 3 model with a full-size keyboard and a black panel design with orange lettering. And to facilitate assembly of the Odyssey, a pictorial guide is included; no technical knowledge or soldering is needed.

The ARP Odyssey FS Kit is a one-of-a-kind collectors’ instrument. To commemorate the unique experience of building it yourself, it is distinguished from any other ARP Odyssey with its own serial number engraved into an elegant metal plate.

With this kit, not only will you be able to get the coveted ARP sound that legendary musicians have been using for the last 50 years, you will also be able to create it with your own hands. We hope that you will make this special ARP ODYSSEY a one-of-a-kind instrument just for you."

"Free bundle of music software

The ARP ODYSSEY FS Kit comes with a diverse variety of music software from Izotope including “Ozone Elements” which lets you not only create songs but also master them using AI, “Skoove” which will help you improve your keyboard playing skills, “Reason Lite” DAW software, as well as software synths from KORG and other brands.

In other words, the moment you get your hands on this synthesizer you'll have a variety of tools to help you take your music to the next level."

Roland Super JX-10 Original Factory Patches Demo - With Ibanez SDR-1000 - Mozart Rondo Alla Turca

video upload by WayneJoness

"Original Factory Patches from the Roland Super JX-10. I recorded this in 1986 using my Roland JX-10 with the Ibanez SDR-1000 stereo reverb. I sequenced Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca using Voyetra's Sequencer Plus. On playback I randomly switched different patches on the JX-10 and SDR-1000, going directly to cassette tape. I edited some of the beginning as I did not start changing the patches until a bit of a way into the piece. I am amazed at how expression the JX-10 is, responding only to changes in key velocity.

These are dual, layered patches. You can really hear the stereo sound, and the Ibanez SDR-1000 was a true stereo reverb with an independent reverb for the left and right channels. You can also hear some of the non-linear patches from the SDR-1000 like gated reverb."

Roland GR-300 Analog Guitar Synthesizer - Pro Tip - Super Filter Modulation w/ Expression Ramper

video upload by WayneJoness

"The GR-300 lacks Filter Modulation, a staple of Analog Synthesizers. This video shows how to use the OBNE, Old Blood Noise Effects - Expression Ramper to modulate the GR-300 filter using the filter pedal input in the GR-300.

A big shout out to Ian Thompson who brought this to my attention! Thanks Ian!

The Classic Oberheim OB-8 - Basic Programming Tutorial

video upload by Andy Whitmore

"The Oberheim OB-8 is a subtractive analog synthesizer launched by Oberheim in early 1983 and discontinued in 1985. As the fourth product in the OB-series of polyphonic compact synthesizers, the OB-8 was the successor to the OB-Xa. The number of production was about 3,000 units.

The OB-8 features eight-voice polyphony, two-part multi-timbrality, a 61-note processor-controlled piano keyboard, sophisticated programmable LFO and envelope modulation, two-pole and four-pole filters, arpeggiator, external cassette storage, MIDI capability and 120 memory patches, 24 bi-timbral patches, and used the Z80 CPU. The musician's interface also consists of two pages of front panel programmable controls, left panel performance controls and a set of foot pedals and switches."

Tera Pro BrainZ Tour

video upload by boxoftextures

"So I was planning to do a Tera Pro video this week just, well, just because. There were a good number of things that took me a while to either figure out, or perhaps just to notice, so I've been thinking of doing not a demo and not a tutorial, but more of a tour. But then they released the BrainZ module as an add-on, based on the Mutable Instruments Plaits module, that you can add to Tera Pro. So I did a tour of the basics of the BrainZ module instead, and I'll do a more general tour at a later date.

So the good part is that BrainZ adds a ton of options to Tera Pro. It's got 16 different synth models, and a good number of controls for them. Basically I set up an 8-step sequence and let it run while I went through each of the different models. So, true confession, I recorded the video, edited it, put in the labels, and only when it was more or less done was when I realized I'd gone through the models row by row, whereas the manual goes through one column and then down the next. Totally my fault! And hopefully I'm not going to confuse everyone. At least I noticed and was able to change the labels so they'd be correct. But to make matters worse, I skipped one! (15. Analog Snare Drum Model.) No idea why, but thankfully at least the one I skipped I used in my demo patch, so you at least get to hear it. Honestly I was wondering what all those crazy icons meant, and it turns out they make sense, and some of them are related to each other (the drum ones, for instance). So remember kids, read the manual first and then make your video.

Note that there's a lot more capability in BrainZ than I've shown here as I've only done some basic modulation. There's more in it than I've shown.

I totally recommend Tera Pro, and I have both of the optional add-ons (the other one being the Waves wavetable module). Once you wrap your head around the perhaps slightly unusual user interface it makes a lot of sense, and making your own patches can be very rewarding once you've gotten comfortable with it.
