Lush FX for Synth & Studios // Echo Fix Spring Reverb & Chorus Vibrato Pedals (EF-P2 & EF-P3)

video upload by DivKid

"Of course these are great plugging guitars straight in (I do a bit of that in the video) but playing with the Echo Fix EF-P2 Spring Reverb & EF-P3 Chorus Vibrato pedals has shown how they really shine on synths, modular and in studio settings.

This is a Pedals & Patches series video where I explore pedal FX with modular gear, synths and in the studio for creative use cases and musical applications. With these we have spring reverb on fifthy synths, on claps for dub style beats, creating ghoulish metallic drones and retro organ stabs. The Chorus Vibrato creates some ridiculous thick synth tones for a bass guitar, adds some tasty wonk to modular synth riffs and gives warm cuddly nostalgia flavour to a guitar. All the examples are in the timing index below, skip around as you like.

See the HyperSynth label for addtional memorory cards for other synths.

"Hcard-101 is an intelligent memory card with multi-bank and multi-device capabilities, purposefully tailored for use with Korg M1, Wavestation, DS8, and A1 models. The Korg M1 synthesizer's voice memory is initially limited to 100 presets, which can be upgraded to 200 presets (1 extra bank) by utilizing a Korg 'MCR-03' RAM card. However, the availability of the Korg RAM card is limited due to its discontinuation, rarity, and high cost. These factors collectively render it a less favorable choice for enthusiasts in the modern era. The 'Hcard-101' serves as a seamless replacement for the Korg "MCR-03". It boasts the capacity to store up to 126 banks of data, all without concerns about battery lifespan and potential data loss.

Features:

Memory Capacity: Supports up to 126 banks, segmented as follows: (M1:64 banks, WS: 40 banks, DS8:24 banks, A1:16 banks)

Pre-Loaded Soundbanks: Comes with 73 pre-loaded soundbanks, including 57 from Korg ROM cards. Additionally, it contains 11 Hypersynth categorized banks specifically for M1 and more.

Touch Pad Accessibility: Instantly switch between different banks using 4 touch pads.

Display: Features a 128x128 pixel OLED display (free angle).

Adaptive Display: Automatic rotation feature corrects display orientation if the card is inserted in reverse, especially useful for rack-mount devices.

Enhanced Memory Protection: An independent 'Memory Protect' option for each bank, offering protection without locking the entire card.

Customization: Allows user-defined names for banks.

Quick Bank Navigation: Easily navigate between banks via the bank list menu.

Efficient Management: Use the "Bank Copy" function to duplicate banks without overwriting the internal memory of the synth.

Battery-Free: Operates without the need for a battery.

Robust Build: CNC metal case sporting a scratch-resistant grey anodized finish.

Compatibility: Drop-in replacement for the Korg "MCR-03" RAM card.

Extensive Device Compatibility: Works seamlessly with Korg M1, M1-EX, M1R, M1R-EX, T1, T2, T3, WS, WS-EX, WS-A/D, DS8, and A1.

M1 Dedicated Features:

Format Decoding: Displays the format of the selected bank on the main screen.(100prg/100cmb, 50prg/50cmb/4200seq, 7700seq)

Capture Program: Presents valuable details about the chosen program, including its compatibility with M1/M1EX, or any requirements for an external PCM card.

List Program: Showcases 8 program names simultaneously, allowing for quick access and browsing of desired sounds.

Bank Info: Provides a comprehensive report highlighting the number of programs in the chosen bank that utilize M1 waveforms, M1EX waveforms, or External PCM card waveforms.

WS Dedicated Feature:

Dynamic Update: Automatically updates the card name on the Wavestation display upon selecting a new bank on the Hcard.

SoundBank

Hcard-101 comes with 73 pre-loaded soundbanks, featuring many of the rarest Korg ROM cards and factory preload data for supported synthesizers. On top of that, it includes 11 categorized banks specifically for M1, stamped with the HyperSynth signature. These banks offer 1100 programs, handpicked from thousands of available free banks for the Korg M1. The layout of these soundbanks makes choosing sounds a breeze.

Music For Polybrute

Taiga Keyboard - Pittsburgh Modular - Sonic LAB Review

video upload by sonicstate

"The latest release from @pittsburghmodular is a supersize version of their Taiga synthesiser. Based on three wavefolding/complex oscillators with multiple seed waves: Sine, Tri, Saw, Square plus blends they give you the backbone of a powerful synthesizer.
The Taiga Keyboard adds a 3 octave velocity and aftertouch enabled keybed, wooden end cheeks, and a couple of modifications that make it a more tweakable instrument.

First up there’s an OSC fine tune knob for each - a small thing but makes it way quicker to get three oscillators tuned how you like. Also the function generator which is an assignable digital affair with a single CV out has easier to access settings - all linked to the Mod Wheel and buttons - the 5V output, Tri LFO, Decay Envelope and Random (you can choose one at a time) are all set by the depth of the mod wheel, and with shift functions, press and hold the assign button to access clock division (LFO and Random) and decay length (Envelope).

With more room to stroll around the front panel, it makes general operation a lot more intuitive.
The other Big addition, is the inclusion of a 24HP module bay, remove the screws from the plate and there’s power for three modules - we put the Mutable Clouds in ours - just to add more processing to the overall sound, but you can choose whatever you want as long as it's not too deep - Disting requires a couple of spacers under the fixing bolts to fit in the provided depth.

Aside from these additions, there’s no functional difference between this and the Taiga module except cost, with the Taiga Keyboard at $1299/£1150 and the Taiga Module at around $800/£650.

Personally I found he extra size does make more sense of this instrument for performing and working on sounds. We would like to have seen a legato envelope mode, currently every note triggers the envelope, not something you can fix with an extra module, and a couple of the knobs response are quite sensitive - notably envelope release is somewhat on even with a small adjustment at the start of it's travel, ditto FM depth for the oscillators. However this is consistent across both Taiga models.

However, like the original Taiga having the blend of complex West Coast style Oscillators, a multimode filter AND a resonant Low Pass Gate really gives a wide palette of sounds fore the curious synthesist.

If you just want a taste of that there’s also the West Pest from Cre8Audio - which while a much less capable instrument will give you more of a West Coast vibe to explore.

"The latest Soma Digest (16) had a link to a #Pulsar23 'diode' experiment by Conatus Modulari from Rotterdam, NL. I am not sure how many of you own a Pulsar, but I see it shine at many live gigs by many people, and recently Johno Wells dedicated a whole show to it. Anyway, this 'diode' trick is amazing. Basically you'd combine an LFO with a Clock, LFO patched to the right side, Clock to the Left. Also clock the LFO with something. Then, patch/pinch/clip another line from the Clock side to your kick trigger and adjust to taste. I don't know how it works, I just know I love it. It reminds me of euclidian rhythms, but there's no code, no logic, just analog magic.
There's a video to Conatus' video where he explains how it works so I can just jam and experiment with the Buchla keys."

First Jams with the Solar 42

video uploads by Uncle Tony

"Second shot at making something with the Solar 42. This thing has incredible range. Wild noise and beautiful sounds. Here's one on the beautiful end."

1. Swell - Solar 42
Love that there's a 5-step sequence on this. Love anything in 5. I found this neat quirk of the Solar 42 where if you touch the nut that secures some of the patch points with a cable that's already plugged in, it causes the pitch on all the oscillators to detune together in this really nice way. Super cool.
2. Solar 42 - Grasslands
Here's one that's more laid back, peaceful and expansive. Love the white noise generators on this thing. The loop and hold functionality on voices 4 and 5 are really handy, too. I used those to make the repeating siren noises about halfway through.
3. Scamper - Solar 42
Here's something a little hectic and dissonant. Still learning to mix and balance the all the voices together.
4. Solar 42 Improv In G
Second shot at making something with the Solar 42. This thing has incredible range. Wild noise and beautiful sounds. Here's one on the beautiful end.
5. First Jam with the Solar 42
Getting to know the Solar 42 from @ELTAmusic. This thing is amazing. Looking forward to getting a better handle on it.

d16group Intros Sigmund 2 High-quality Delay Line

video upload by d16group

"Sigmund is far from just another delay. Four delay lines that can be interconnected in several different ways provide an incredible degree of sound-shaping freedom.

To get more info please visit: https://d16.pl/sigmund2"

"Sigmund is far from just another delay. It provides an incredible degree of soundshaping freedom.

The plug-in consists of four discrete delay units, each with an independent set of parameters that offer you the freedom to shape your sound. There’s an ancient saying, often attributed to Aristotle: The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. With Sigmund, this is especially true as each of the delay lines has complementary modules such as filter and overdrive built in, working independently from the feedback loop. The delay lines themselves can also be combined together in several ways. Sigmund’s user interface has been designed from the ground up to be as intuitive as possible. Everything is presented as if on a silver (or brushed aluminum) platter, cleanly and clearly laid out with instant access to each section and its parameters."
