"The clap sound can also be triggered via MIDI (on any channel), and will respond to velocity information. The note that it's mapped to is the C# above middle C (note number 61).

The Clap Cussion is incredibly versatile, creating a myriad of clap sounds via 7 synthesis parameter knobs on the front panel.

This ACM2 is still in great shape and would certainly make an excellent addition to your electronic instrument collection."

"In the late 80s I amused myself with my BBC model B and the Hybrid Music 5000 software. It was an amazing program at the time. I have not had as much fun with any computer music program since. It could be persuaded to do both interesting and silly things."

BENGE LOOP SERIES ONE: BUCHLA 100

"BENGE LOOP SERIES ONE: BUCHLA 100

A series of albums recorded on a single electronic music synthesiser (or group of related instruments incorporated into a system) utilising a method of composing and recording called Looping

Looping is achieved using a technique whereby sounds are recorded either digitally or to tape which is set to loop around upon itself at various fixed lengths of time, ranging from a few seconds up to several minutes depending on the compositional effect required for each individual piece of music

There are many variables within this framework which determine the nature of the composition such as: LOOP DURATION; NUMBER OF CHANNELS; STEREO POSITIONING; LOOP FEEDBACK, etc. Thus, the ‘rules’ of each musical piece can be set up in advance allowing the composition to flow naturally from any given starting point

On this first record the sound source is a Buchla 100 modular analog synthesiser dating from the 1960s. This instrument in itself allows for extremely complex multi-dimentional events to be set up, including elements relating to pitch, timbre, time, duration, rhythm, harmony, reverberation, stereo location and the like. Furthermore it can be manipulated very easily in real time, using the various potentiometers and touch plates. The looping techniques used here included multitrack digital recording (Electro Harmonix 2880), monophonic tape loops (Roland RE501) and various combinations of the two

Original post
Hi all!
I present you the Stochastic Function Generator!
I want to show you guys something i've been working on for some time now, it's still not yet finished but i feel like is already worth showing.

So, the basic concept is, every time you feed a gate/trigger to the "Gate in" input the module randomizes a Rise(Attack) and Fall(Decay) value between the minimum and maximum knob settings. It has multiple uses, from playing subtle swing variations to crazy envelope shapes.

Setting the Maximum knob value below the Minimum knob value will cancel the stochastic process and it will work as a regular Attack and Decay envelope.

This is an hybrid circuit, this means the Function Generator (AKA Envelope Generator) core is analog and there is also a microcontroller to spice things up.

More:
- Switchable between Gate and Trigger.
- The Loop switch will re-trigger the envelope at the end of it's cycle.
- 3 speed modes, High , Mid and Low.
- There are two jumpers on the back to change speed modes from "low" to "super low" mode and "High" to "Super High".
- The "Gate Out" is a gate signal with the same length as the Attack portion of the envelope. This only works on trigger mode.(Useful to get random gates when loop mode is set)
- Manual trigger/gate push button
- The middle knob is an inverter and attenuater knob of the output signal.

At the moment there is also a simultaneous inverted output, but i'm considering changing it to a bipolar output, in my opinion this would be more useful to use it as a weird LFO in loop mode. What you guys thing?

Right now i'm re-doing the panel layout and i'll upload some videos/sound samples when i'm done with the new panel.

I might consider doing a small run (10 or so) if there is enough interest.

Coments, questions, suggestions and improvements are appreciated! please be kind thumbs up

Regards,
Ruben"

J Dilla - Phantom of the Synths (VoltageCtrlr cover)

Published on Feb 12, 2014 VoltageCtrlRtv·21 videos

"This composition is dedicated to the memory of the legendary HipHop producer J Dilla.
I find it very important to keep an artist legacy alive by giving thanks for their
creative accomplishments and respecting their work and not stepping on their toes.
A lot of people do Dilla tributes but most of them are written from a HipHop perspective, that's totally cool. i just wanted to do something different.
Given that HipHop producers sample from all styles of music I thought it would be an
interesting exercise to listen to a Dilla produced song and make an analog modular synth composition inspired by his use of Giorgio Moroder's 'Theme From Midnight Express',
I made sure to not listen to the original before recording because I didn't want it to influence my version.

This is a live one take improvised modular synth performance, no multi tracking, samples or editing. This composition begins with the feeling of loss and sorrow knowing that Dilla's catalog of music is complete and he will never write another song... then I slowly bring in the main melody and from there I pick up the pace as an energetic celebration of his life and legacy.
This is just an auditory thank you from me to Dilla and his family.
Be sure to donate anything you can to the Dilla foundation.

The Korg Volca Series: 3 Volcas Combined- Song 5

Published on Feb 12, 2014 AutomaticGainsay·197 videos

"The instruments in the Volca series are excellent individually, but they can also be combined to create a miniature electronic studio.
When I first acquired the Volca series, I combined them, improvised sequences, and then shot myself improvising manipulation of those sequences. That is the origin of these 3 Volcas Combined videos.
In the right hands and with a little practice, some great music can come out of these as a set. Don't let my little experiments fool you. ;)
Because I got tired of looking at my face, I have created weird visual narratives from vintage educational films to go along with these songs.
Please forgive me for the sloppy mixes... in haste, I ran them all through a single mixer for recording during performance.
Thanks for watching!"

"This is an absolute perfect reproduction of the beautiful Buchla 296 Spectral Processor. If you've ever heard the original , you will know that nothing sounds quite like it. Sounds just as glorious as the original BUT , and this is important , it is much , much quieter. The original circuit , all though beautiful sounding , was quite noisy. Here you have all the beauty and hardly any of the noise. The original versions of these are pretty much impossible to find anymore , so don't let this slip away. Low reserve. Good luck."
