"Offered here is an early production Moog Minimoog Model D, serial #5233, from my smoke-free recording studio, where it has lived for roughly the past twenty years.
This instrument has been featured extensively throughout my own work, appearing on many albums over the course of my 20 year ownership. Prior to that, it belonged to acclaimed Portland keyboardist Ramsey Embick, who toured internationally with The Pointer Sisters during the 1980s using this Minimoog, and performed on recording sessions for artists including Jo Bisso, Alfonzo, and others. Several touring-era modifications performed during his ownership remain intact and are described below.
This is not a museum piece... it is an honest, professionally used early Minimoog with decades of musical history. The front panel remains exceptionally clean and highly legible, all keys play well, and the instrument retains its original character while remaining a fantastic sounding and inspiring synthesizer."

Vintage 1974 Moog Minimoog Model D Analog Synthesizer SN 4019

"Up for auction/sale is a highly collectible, stunningly preserved 1974 Vintage Moog Minimoog Model D (Serial Number 4019). Manufactured during the coveted "Golden Era" at the Williamsville, NY factory, this iconic instrument is 100% vintage and features its highly desirable, rare original smooth factory wheels—proving it has skipped the typical late-70s retrofits and repair-shop modifications.
For the serious collector or professional musician, Serial #4019 represents the ultimate holy grail of analog synthesis, boasting the raw, heavy, authentic sound that defined 1970s music history.
Why Serial #4019 is Highly Collectible
Smooth Wheels: Features the original flat, smooth-edged cream wheels used briefly from 1974 to 1975 before Moog switched to ribbed wheels.
Revision 2 Oscillator Board: Contains the legendary early-70s oscillator design prized for its raw, organic, and beautifully thick analog drift (pre-dating the cleaner, highly stabilized later models).
Discrete Moog 4012 Filter: Equipped with the legendary hand-matched transistor ladder filter for that creamy, earth-shaking low end."
I was curious about the wheel history. According to AI: 1971 to Mid-1972: Early units used clear wheels.
Mid-1972 to Early 1973: Used "blocky" white wheels.
1973 to 1974: Smooth, solid white (or cream) wheels became the standard.
Late 1974 onward: Replaced by the more common grooved or ribbed "Oreo" wheels, which were also carried over to later [Minimoog Model D] reissues.
If anyone knows otherwise feel free to comment.

The Sound That Shaped Music | Minimoog Model D | Bob Moog Tribute Edition
video upload by Moog Music

"A Limited-Edition Piece of Synth History. https://inmusic.to/y65ybz6e
In 1970, the Minimoog Model D redefined modern music-making as the first portable, performance-ready analog keyboard synthesizer—bringing the Moog sound to artists worldwide. This tribute edition honors that legacy and the visionary spirit of Bob Moog.
For artists like Gary Numan, Jimmy Jam, and Mark Mothersbaugh, the sound of the Minimoog Model D was a catalyst. Loved for its warm, analog tone and intuitive, straightforward design, this timeless synthesizer’s influence transcends genres and generations. Its distinctive basses, soaring leads, and classic filter character established the Model D as the archetype of what artists and listeners still imagine when they think of the synthesizer.
This limited-edition production run features a custom quartersawn oak wood enclosure, a unique back-panel decal, and an included SR Series travel case, along with 100% analog circuitry and all the modern functional enhancements from the instrument’s 2022 release.
To honor Dr. Bob Moog’s legacy and impact on modern music technology, $500 from each unit sold will be donated directly to the Bob Moog Foundation, supporting the Moogseum, Dr. Bob’s Sound School, and the preservation of the Bob Moog Foundation Archives.

"A Special Run of an Iconic Instrument
We designed this limited-edition production run with intentional details that commemorate Bob Moog's earliest synthesizer models. The instrument features a custom badge that uses a metal photo-anodization process, which harkens back to the modular panel graphics found on the System 55, System 35, and Model 10 synthesizers, as well as select early R.A. Moog Co. Minimoogs. The instrument features a custom quartersawn oak wood enclosure, a unique back-panel decal, and an included SR Series travel case, along with 100% analog circuitry and all the modern functional enhancements from the instrument’s latest reissue.
Each Bob Moog Tribute Edition Minimoog Model D synthesizer is assembled by hand in our North Carolina production facility, and only 500 in total will be built by our small team."

"This collection of vintage synthesizers has grown with me for years. Most all of these instruments have been used on many projects, including VeggieTales, a variety of remixes, and many PlayStation video games and marketing and promotional discs. Most recently they were used on the Mass Effect Andromeda video games soundtrack. They have also been sampled and are part of the SoundVault Collection and the Kurzweil Analog Collection for the K2000 series samplers.
VEMIA note: to forestall many inquiries, The seller’s idea is that he wants to sell it as a whole. That may or may not work out in this auction. If it doesn’t, obviously he’ll be free to do whatever he wants after the auction finishes.
It all works. Everything has been kept in a clean, smoke-free, climate-controlled studio. I have always fixed things myself, so everything is operational and sounding great. I have repair notes on the synths that received attention, though most of them have worked great over the years, without much need for repairs. There are also several MIDI to CV converters so they can all be controlled by computer, plus cables if desired. And a few have cases and manuals.

Building a Minimoog Model D From Parts
video upload by synthpro
"Hey Guys,
In this video, I bring you along the adventure of building a really nice Minimoog from parts I have had over the years.
Michael heard this unit on a little Instagram post I made when I first started testing to see if I could get a working unit from the parts and immediately sent me a down payment. It took me about 2 years to source everything needed but Minimoog SN: 5250 now lives a healthy life once more.
Thanks for watching!
Sincerely,
Jareth"

Sequential Pro 3 – Moogish Inspired Sounds [Model D] | Custom Presets [Sound Demo]
video upload by R6Synths
"Sequential Pro 3 – Moogish Sounds - Part 1.
My personal collection of Moog inspired Analog Sounds dedicated to the Sequential Pro 3.
The Mini Moog has influenced generations. As a lover of 70s progressive rock, I've admired the Mini Moog's sound since I first started listening to music.
These patches are inspired by the lovely book: Minimoog Sound Charts by Tom Rhea.
To maintain the original spirit of the Model D, these presets are loaded without effects; however, you can activate them as they are configured to enhance the sounds.
Enjoy—you have a great synthesizer in your hands!
Explore my available presets here: https://www.r6synths.com
No EQ. No compression – just the pure sound of the Pro 3."
