The Synthesis Technology E340 is a super-saw/sine oscillator capable of generating up to 8 waveforms per output. If you want massive bass and lead voices like the JP-8000 supersaw, or thick ambient drones as if played from a slow rotary speaker, the E340 is the perfect audio source for your synth patches.

Detune the swarm of oscillators using SPREAD or with randomly filtered noise using CHAOS and CHAOS BW (bandwidth). Reset the phase of all waveforms using the SYNC trigger input, which can use another oscillator to produce a sync-lead sound.

This module supports VCV Rack’s polyphonic cables, so with 16 voices, you can generate a total of 128 waveforms per output.

This VCV Rack software module uses the original firmware from the hardware Synthesis Technology E340 module.

Synthesis Technology e355 Morphing Dual LFO

"The e355 is a 14hp euro module with 2 lfos that use our unique morphing algorithm to create over 10,000 different wave forms. the 2 outputs can vary from 1 cycle in 12 minutes to 1000hz in 2 ranges and the use of a 24mhz 32-bit arm processor allows the frequency to be stable over temperature and during years of use.

It has features to make it useful in both live and studio use. the 2 lfos are "locked" to each other in one of 3 ways, selectable by a panel switch:
lfo2 and lfo1 have independent rates and the same waveshape and phase
lfo2 has independent waveshape but the same rate and phase as lfo1
*lfo1 and lfo2 have the same rate and wave shape but variable phase from 0 -360 degrees
lfo1 can be thought as the ‘master’ lfo as it always has independent rate, fm and morphing. the lfos track 1v/oct and all parameters are under voltage control. there are 2 leds that vary brightness based on output amplitude in 128 levels.

The e355 using the same morphing engine as the e350 morphing terrarium. the transition from one stored wavetable to another is broken down into 4096 calculated waves. there are 3 banks of waves to select from:

Bank a: basic waves in order of harmonic complexity (sine, tri, saw up, saw down, 25/50/75% pulses and noise).
Bank b: the waves in bank a are repeated in frequency as 1x, 2x, 3x, ..8x. this allows the lfos to have a very wide range between them if necessary or to use this as a basic audio oscillator (limited to 1khz).
Bank c: these are the 64 waves in bank c of the e350 (designed by robert rich) to go way beyond the ordinary. sequences of notes, arpeggiation effects, pings, swoops and lattice phase modulation are just some of the delights contained. in the audio range these can be harsh, noisy and crunchy.

There are 2 external inputs to either sync the lfos or to hold ('freeze') the outputs.

Specs:
Cv inputs: -5v to +5v, dc to 8khz.
Frequency range (bank a and c): low (12min/cycle – 2hz) high (8sec/cycle to 124hz)
Frequency range (bank b at 8x settings): low (1.5min/cycle -16hz) high (1hz – 1020hz)
Power supply range: +-9v to +-15v (euro and motm connectors provided)
Power supply current (typical): -12v @12ma +12v @ 32ma
Size: 14hp x 17mm depth behind panel"

Synth Tech E355 Morphing Dual LFO - Scratching The Surface

YouTube Uploaded by JohnLRice on Mar 24, 2012

"This is a test of the new and soon to be released E355 Morphing Dual LFO from Synthesis Technology. (LFO = Low Frequency Oscillator) This video is extremely long (for me) at 35 minutes, is of a technical nature and will probably will only appeal to folks interested in purchasing one. (or nutters who enjoy listening to oscillators for hours on end like me! ;-)

Apologies for my big dumb left hand in the way half the time! I was yelling at myself during editing to "MOVE IT!" :-/ ;-)"

Medic Modules Defribillator

Medic Modules Defribillator from Oliver Chesler on Vimeo.

"The Medic Modules are from Tom Carpenter who also does the Analogue Solutions hardware. I've become friends with Tom and also own his Telemark. I've only been playing with the Medic Module Defibrillator for a few days but it's really nice. It's a dual VCF and VCA based on the Korg MS-20. As you can hear in the video above the VCA adds some sick power to my Wiard Oscillator. The Q or resonance is really sweet and musical sounding. Besides the sound source (the Wiard) sometimes I send an LFO in the CV to create the pulses and use a Pressure Points as a little keyboard. Consider this just a part one video. I am looking for suggestions on some possible crazy patches. There's definetly going to be some nice stereo stuff to discover. Tom is an artists and like most of his stuff this is a very pretty module. The sliders with LEDs are oh so nice and well just look at the back of the unit! You can also order a version of the module covered in blood."

Medic Module - Defribillator (Part Two) from Oliver Chesler on Vimeo.
I wanted to show off what the new Medic Modules Defibrillator Eurorack dual VCF/VCA sounds like. If you just want to jump to some instant awesome go to 1:04 in the video. When I increase the Q (resonance) the sound breaks apart in a wonderfully musical way. It really reminds of some of the sound on Front 242's first album Geography. I needed to hands for this video and I remembered I had a GoPro sports camera so I used it's head strap. Surely this is more interesting than footage of me jumping out of an airplane right? So what else is going on in this patch? It all starts with a Wiard Oscillator with a Tiptop Audio Z4000 ASDR. It is being sequenced by a Doepfer Dark Time and that line is being Quantized and beautifully modified by a custom key range I created on a Flame Tame Machine. The Tame Machine is also playing back a recorded sequence pattern. Everything is kept in tempo with Ableton using an Innerclock Sync-Gen II including a Tiptop Audio 808 Kick, Snare and 16th note hi-hat. There is a white noise crash from a Hexinverter vcNOIZ. At first it's a solid blast then I break it apart using an LFO from a Synthesis Technology E355 Morphing Dual LFO. That LFO is also in sync with the Innerclock and is also providing CV to the Medic Modules Defibrillator at times. While it may seem like a long explaination once you understand how a modular works it's very easy, fast and fun to put together a patch like this and play. I can see adding some more parts and vocals and turning this into a finished song.

First look at the Malekko/Richter Megawave Voltage Controlled Wave Table Device from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"First patch using the Malekko/Richter Megawave. Using multiple synced Intellijel Dixie LFO's CV modulating the wave, bank, and Rom inputs. Cycling glitching through banks (MiniWave, Socket Rocket, PPPGVS, Darwin's House, and Monowave). CV control zigzag LFO patterns from the E355 Morphing Dual LFO set to control the Rom select. The output was then ran into the Synthesis Technology e560 Deflector Shield in phase mode. Drums courtesy of the Mungo g0 with rippling sound effects recorded from the Cwejman S1. Everything clocked and mangled from one single MakeNoise Woggle bug.

Synthesis Technology E560 Deflector Shield - The Lost Demos

video upload by John L Rice

"Index:
0:00 Year 2010 - First test of the new E560 featuring music by Carbon111
2:42 Year 2013 - Subtle demo of the E560 in frequency shifter mode
5:24 End

This video happened because I was digging through some old hard drives and found a few things I had lost track of for years!

The first part of this is a video I had posted to YouTube back in 2010, but out of frustration dealing with YT copyright claims and trying to keep my channel commercial free, I deleted it. The main problem came because I used part of a track by my friend James Maier, AKA Carbon111, and he was totally fine with my use (thanks James! :-), but dealing with YouTube check bots at the time wasn't so easy. This was my first test of the new at the time E560 module and it is also my very first eurorack video! Check out James's site for lots of interesting synthesizer info and links where you can buy his music! ๐Ÿ‘Œ
http://carbon111.com/

Modules used in part 1:
Synth Tech E560 Deflector Shield
Doepfer A-147 VCLFO and A-174 Voltage Inverter
Malekko 8NU8R

Part two came about because around three years later there was a discussion on the MuffWigger synth forum (now renamed as ModWiggler) about frequency shifters and how most demos tended to be of the more extreme effects they can create but not many show the subtle uses. I was asked about my missing demo from part 1 here and I couldn't find it at the time so I did a new audio only demo and posted it to my Soundcloud page. I just have a free Soundcloud account and my storage space is limited so I occasionally delete old tracks to make room for new ones. Since I decided to repost the original video, I decided to include the later noodles demo as a "bonus track".

Modules used in part 2:
Synth Tech E560 Deflector Shield and E355 Morphing Dual LFO
