Easely does it
Published on Nov 28, 2017 WilyEPeyote
"It's possible that with more practice some kind of subtlety might seep in. But I'm making no promises.
This is plain Easel for a good while with a bit of OTO Bam reverb supplementing its own. Later I add a bit of looping from a DD-20 just because...
This Easel thing is as mad as a box of frogs at a brexit party. I suspect if I ever truly understand it, the universe will come to an end and be replaced by a drunken gerbil named Gerald.
And it's not even Friday..."

"Well, I think I eliminated the weird flashing but of course did some strange squishing to this video. Poor Lyra! The next one might actually look and sound how I want. :)"

Northern Lights on the Lyra-8
Published on Jan 20, 2017 WilyEPeyote
"Beware, flashing lights!
Sorry, I'm not entirely sure what happened with the video format. Friday afternoons are probably not ideal for making videos. This is me playing the Lyra-8, through some modular effects. A Bastl Grandpa plays a long recording in the background through yet more effects.
I should probably have moved the tripod further back but in an earlier attempt doing it that way, I only got half the synth in view.
This recording was started without preparing the Lyra-8, and by preparing I mean 'tuning'. Not that it matters hugely. :)"

Cirklon workflow 8
Published on Jan 29, 2014 WilyEPeyote·23 videos
"It might not be number 8. Anyway, this one's about assigning and using track values, defining a fill.
I should probably have thought about this one before I started then I could have told you what the fill option "no fill" means. Actually it means don't play a fill even if there's one defined for that scene but I never use that personally so I forgot. :)
Good job I'm not touting these as the ultimate guide or owt."

Cirklon: some inter-track events and a spot of knob masking (fnar fnar)
Published on Dec 23, 2013 WilyEPeyote·22 videos
"This person is drunk. Mask or unmask, always a tough one. Best to turn knobs and see what happens. Decided accumulators were a bit obvious (and the tutorial went into a tailspin) so went for showing inter-track events instead. Stupidly, I failed to plan in advance, which would have involved making the two sequences noticeably different. Ah well.
Oh and I totally failed to explain the other inter-track events, of which there are many. However, once you start with notes the rest, well, keep turning and you'll find them. Same principles, self-explanatory. Remember stuff is processed in order. Therefore, if I suspect I might later wish to conditionally mask an event, I place that event on the second aux at the start,"

Cirklon (very) basic worklow
Published on Nov 29, 2013 WilyEPeyote·20 videos
"Starts with loading my own default song (which I now notice I need to save my favourite fill mode in), starting from the workscene and saving a few scenes as if I was starting a song. Tried to keep video fairly short so it doesn't get boring, quite hard as I had the camera in front of my face so it could see the screen and keys, well most of them. Hope it helps explain how easy it is to start from nothing and build the bones of a song, even if this isn't a song I spent too long thinking about. :) You'll also hear the difference between the wild abandon of me recording notes into P3 patterns and the pattern playback. Hope it's useful to someone."

Cirklon: simple aux events example
YouTube Uploaded by WilyEPeyote on Aug 4, 2011
"Cirklon triggering Emu World Board Talking Drum patch
Basic 16 step P3 pattern, randomly record some notes in from MIDI then add as follows:
Aux A: velocity accumulator, set one amount. Then on each pass the velocity of each note in the pattern increases by this amount. See also menu for behaviour of accumulator when the max is reached, the limits too.
Aux B: Randomly mask Aux C, different random amounts for each step
Aux C: Repeat note 3 times / velocity plus or minus on selected steps
Aux D: Randomly mask selected gates with individual random amounts per step
I think that's the gist... hopefully makes sense. Imagine if I'd spent time planning the notes, adding percussion on other tracks etc. etc.

"Dunno if this will work, it's a very quick run through making something new from scratch. Obviously it's unplanned and doesn't go anywhere but maybe I'll refine it and the next video will show more of that. Who can say?"

Cirklon FTB
YouTube via WilyEPeyote | October 24, 2010
"A very quick run through of scenes from a recent Cirklon song. It took me a couple of attempts before I recorded the sound OK hence it's not the smoothest performance. Apologies for the cough, seems a few of us picked that up in Berlin.
I realise that even by my standards the video is basic but I wanted to be the first to get some Cirklon tunes online. I suspect a lot will follow as people realise how cool this is."
