VCO-1 and 8-Step Sequencer

YouTube via technoshamanarchist | December 11, 2010 |

"Thomas Henry's VCO-1 connected to a 8-step analog sequencer which is based on the famous Baby 10. For more information on each, please visit:

http://www.birthofasynth.com/Thomas_H...
http://www.midiwall.com/gear/babyseq/

Sequencer provides CV and Gate signals. I route the Gate to Linear FM, Exp. FM, and PWM. The VCO can output Sine, triangle, and pulse waves.

The camera angle is kinda lame, and the output is coming from a hi-fi amp + speakers. The music sux, but I think this VCO sounds pretty good :)"

16 Step Up/Down Sequencer

YouTube via drOffset | December 06, 2010 |

"Two CMOS chips interact to form this great 16 step control voltage sequencer. The CD4029 makes this more than your average Baby10. It's a crazy high performance thingy with a difference.

schranzknecht chapter #2

YouTube via schranzknecht — April 05, 2010 —

"Installation No# 2.

No drumpattern switching here.
Basic drums by simmons SDS5 through a yusynth wavefolder.
MFB Step Seq Clock gets into a yusynth clockdivider which drives the upper baby10.
This one drives the lower baby10. The lower Baby ten switches some vca´s to control three different tracks: Beat, filtered noise and basic FM percussion.
In addition some other "events" are used to bring in a little more variation.
Sequence-switched S&H and CV-offsets for example.
Please excuse the harsh gate popping.
I´ve got another adsr and a dual slew limiter in my pipeline, but they are not ready yet.

FrankenSynth

via Stephen of FUTURECHIMP where you'll find more pics and info.

"I recently finished a modular system. It's basically a Paia 9700S system in a new shell, with a built-in midi keyboard and a homemade 10-step sequencer based on the Baby 10 schematic.

I tried to make the case as small as possible, so I gutted an old midi keyboard that had miniature keys. The red plunger buttons on either side of the keyboard transpose the octave up or down, so it's possible to play all notes in the midi range. The midi cable comes out from the interior of the case and goes into the faceplate, so I can unplug the keyboard to use a different controller (like drum pads).

The case is built out of acrylic, and the lettering is dry-transfer.

Modular Synthesizer jam

YouTube via J0hannesVw

" String sound: OB-12 in slow arpeggio mode
Bass sound 1: Sine VCO sequenced by Baby 10 sequencer and squared up by MFOS ringmod and filtered by MFOS 24dB/Oct LPF
Bass sound 2: Same sine VCO as Bass sound 1 but overdriven by MFOS VCA
Drums: Tr-606
Delay: Reel-to-reel taperecorder
Lead: Two MFOS VCO (saw waveforms) to the MFOS 12dB/Oct SVF in Lowpass mode (Highpass output inversed and fed back to the input) controlled by the MFOS dual AR generator in different modes.

Don't mind the sloppy "solo"."

Voltage Controlled Pattern Sequencer VCPS.mpg

YouTube via fonitronik.

follow-up to this post

"The 1st short demo of my new VCP Sequencer. VCP = Voltage Controlled Pattern. Yep, an incoming control voltage gets converted into a set of 8bit grey code. those bits switch on or off hte stages of an 8 step sequencer. however, each step/stage can manually set to ON, OFF or VCP too. So you have full control over each step all the time. In this Video the VCPS gets controlled by another Sequencer, the Baby10."

Analog Synth Noodle - Klee Sequencer in Random Mode w/External load.

YouTube via bchris1776

"This is my DIY Analog Synth 'noodling' - that is, playing on its own in real time. This is a simple patch - despite what it may look like from the cords. I'm only using a very small part of the modular for this one.. and I still have patch cords left. I usually keep plugging things together til I'm out of cords - or plugs. :p
I have the Electro-Music Klee sequencer in random mode and it's using the External Load - That's the 'lead' part you hear. The sequencer on the 'bench' is a version of the Baby 10 I've been putting together. A sample and hold (using a noise source) is changing the resonance on the filter for the lead part. Drums are Ken Stones (CGS) design - ringing oscillators, The CGS Pulse Divider clocked by the CGS Gate Sequencer is creating the beat. I'm using VCA's to mix things in and out every now and then - including the 'sliding' notes from the Klee, and some doubling of the lead part.
Modulars are just fun."

"Loads of diy modular bleeps and bloops sampled, chopped then sequenced.

Modules used were LF398 Sample and hold, Baby10 sequencer, MS-20 filter, CA3080 Ring modulator, TH VCO1's and VCA's, 555 ADSR's, CGS LFO's and a Midi Gate converter I designed.

The dodgy video was shot with a Canon Powershot a720 running CHDK and processed in VirtualDub."

Clear Plexiglas Module

Ian sent this into the SDIY mailing list. I thought it was very cool and asked him if I could put up a post for others to check out and he gave me the OK. Thank you Ian.

"I had an idea quite a while back to make a modular synth with clear plexiglas panels because I love seeing everything. Well, it fell through back then because the drill bits I was using constantly cracked the plex. I got a step-up bit recently and peered at my pile of plex, grabbed a scrap and drilled a couple holes. No cracking this time. There was much joy. So, without further ado, I give you the front panel for a Baby 10 sequencer... I can't remember where I got the schematic, but the name on it is M. Herrmann."

modded wsg +diy sequencer +clock

YouTube via snazelle

"this is a demonstration of a few modules i have built: the wsg (the big blue box) was built almost a year ago and was my first diy project EVER. the "deluxe" 555 clock (tupperware) and BABY 10 sequencer(orange box) are recent projects. After finishing the baby 10 sequencer, i decided to add a CV in to my WSG...i connected it to the collector of the transistor which works with the A side of the 40106. i added one other weird switch mod as well.

basically this was a test to see if i could add CV to the WSG and it worked.

by the way, the clock has a cv in and toward the end of the video I tried to see if i could mess with it by plugin the gate out of the baby 10 into it, but it didnt create the desired effect. however, the clock is voltage controllable, primarily from a square or saw wave.

Voice Of Saturn Sequencer

flickr by recompas. You can find more images here. Note these could come up for sale. If you are interested, keep reading. Update: more info on the recompas website.

"Hi, I'm an avid reader of Matrixsynth and was curious if you'd be interested in my little analog sequencer project i'm working on currently. I basically want to get some feedback from people to see if its worth my time making these to sell (i've got a few prototypes for myself which i'm having a lot of fun with). There's a lot of components and it takes me quite a while to put one together and I was wondering if there is enough interest out there for something like this for around $250-$300 depending on the case. Its a 10 step analog sequencer (actually, can loop from 1-10 steps) with gate outs for each step, 0-~9v cv output, s-trig or regular trig output, clock output/input, and runs off a 9v battery - and yes, its based more or less off the Baby10 sequencer. I'll have some sound samples up soon on my website, it works great with my Korg MS-10 as well with my Voice of Saturn synth box that I'm also in the process of developing. I'll have more info on everything up soon."
