Crumar Spirit (Bob Moog designed)

via this auction

"Super Rare Bob Moog Designed Crumar Spirit Monosynth (the Italian Minimoog). Unique sounds, unique routings, excellent condition (minor marks, nothing major).

The Spirit synthesizer from Crumar was an analog synthesizer designed by Bob Moog, Jill Scott, and, Tom Rhea. It features 2 oscillators with basic sawtooth, triangle and square waves that can be synced together. The filter was highly regarded as well. the filter has low, high, and band-pass modes and is switchable between 12dB and 24dB slopes. Another plus is an independent envelope with key tracking. Other features are an external input, ring Modulator, and an arpeggiator with 3 patterns that could be synced with the LFO section."

Crumar Bit 100! (Bit One + Bit 99)

video upload by Valmont

"Some chill stuff :)

SSM2044 (Bit One) vs CEM3328 (Bit 99) comparison at 1:51.
They sound pretty much the same tbh, minus the resonance drop for Bit One (design flaw of 2044s). But the boards inside do look different, we really can feel how Crumar engineers found about some possible reliability issues. My Bit One [a very early model] looks like a still-on-development instrument, with factory handmade modifications. That's why I tend to say the Bit 99 is safer, like better finished synthesizer. It also has few practical improvements that are useful for live sets, such as volume, noise and detune recall (which is not possible on Bit One), and a better keyboard feeling thanks stronger keysprings. Fun thing though, it's the same keyboard as in the Siel Opera 6 and E-Mu Emax!

So, Bit One or Bit 99? Honestly, whatever the model, you'll get the same thing. Bit99s are maybe a bit better designed, but both share all the same fragile components that usually die with time x)

0:00 - Stack 1 (with use of velocity to LFO speed!)
0:42 - Stack 2 (4 DCOs on different pitchs)
1:00 - Stack 3 (classic poly sound)
1:51 - VCF Tests

BBD emulation Crumar Trilogy prototype

video upload by Valmont

"Here I only presented the wet sound of a single BBD line and the mixed effect (still with one line). The complete ensemble consists in 3 lines like that, with phase offset and LFO combinations."

Crumar Bit One: 15 great sounds (Rare SSM rev.)

video upload by Valmont

"Long time ago I recorded a video of this Crumar, but the sound was mono with phasing issues, and so didn't give honor to Bit One's sonic character.
This time I recorded it with the voicepan x)
This unit is a SSM-2044 version, it said less than 300 (or 200?) were made before switching to the less sought-after CEM-3328. With the incredible number of broken Bit Ones you can find online, I don't think there's much SSM versions left :D
The Bit is also capable of split/layer/two-unison, I forgot to make some patch for that when recording the video!

I made a Crumar Bit One/01/99 t-shirt here (idk I thought it looked cool) https://sites.google.com/site/digital...

Wersivoice FM76 & Wersi WV30 Wersivoice Rotor/String Effect Cards

Wersivoice FM76 video upload by hi there its me

"Vintage Chorus/Vibrato from the late 70s
- demonstrated with Ableton's Operator (Sine/Squarewave)
- no effects added
- beautiful to warm up your digital synths
- also works great with guitars, vocals..."

Note the video above is not for the listing below and it actually uses a different card. See the update from Ohm Studio below. There were different versions of the PCBs used by Wersi. Read on for details.

via this auction

"These WV30 rotor/string cards are used and tested from a Wersi Arcus and are suitable for all CD range organs. Not suitable for any DX range organs."

Update: I asked Ohm Studio if this was the same model card used in his custom design. He replied: "It’s not the same pcb I use or used in the Wersivoice FM76 above (the only standalone manufactured model they made). It’s from a more recent design and uses different bucket brigade devices, Panasonic MN3004 instead of the Philips TDA1022 used in the Wersivoice, Bohm and most of the Italian string synths and organs from the late 70s on (the Farfisa effect I built was also designed around those).

Earlier ensemble fx used TCA350 BBDs like the Eminent Solina, Logan string melody, Crumar Stringman etc.

American and Japanese designs tended to use Panasonic (Roland used the MN300x a lot. Like in Juno choruses too).

I never really notice a real difference in sound between those BBDs IF the circuit is more or less similar and based on the Solinas, ie using 3x BBDs modulated by 2 lfos, one at 6hz and one at 0,6hz.

Roland ensemble fx do sound very different than the rest, but IMO it’s not because of the uses of Panasonic BBDs but because of the circuit design that is not based on the classic eminent design.

I do think however that the Bohm Phasing rotor and the Wersivoice are the lushest you can get (except, most probably for Jurgen Haible Triple Chorus, which unfortunately I never had a chance to hear. From what I've read the Bohm was a huge influence in his design).

So to make a long story short: no it’s not the same but I’m quite sure it would sound nice because it looks like it’s the classic design."

Vintage Prototype Crumar Spirit Moog-Made Italian Analog Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Rare, vintage Moog-Made Crumar Spirit in excellent working and cosmetic condition with original case. This is a prototype made for Crumar that never actually went into production. Depending on who you talk to, this is 1 of 100, or 1 of 200 units made. This is serial number 0078.

Designed by Bob Moog, Jim Scott & Tom Rhea and released back in 1983. The Spirit is similar to a 2 VCO MiniMoog, but is considerably more flexible. 37-note keyboard, and the 2 oscillators feature basic sawtooth, triangle and square waves and can be synced together.

The filter section features low, high, and band-pass filters and switchable 12dB or 24dB slopes. Other features of the filter include an independent envelope with inverted and normal ADSR, key tracking and single or multiple triggering of the filter. Some other features of the Spirit include a built-in ring-modulator, an Arpeggiator with 3 different patterns that can be linked to the LFO, and there's an external audio input for running external sounds through its filters, LFOs or Ring Mod.

24 knobs, 10 switches and 15 sliders. 3 performance wheels for controlling the Pitch, Mod-X and Shaper-Y modulation effects. The Arpeggiator features 3 modes: Ripple (Up/Down), Arpeggio (Up several octaves) and Leap (Goes up 1 and then 4 octaves)."

Specular Tempus Delay and Reverb with a Crumar Bit99 Analog Synthesizer #shorts #synth #gear #pedal

video upload by Demiurgo

"I've just got a used Specular Tempus, and I'm trying it out here with a Bit 99, an analog synthesizer (often used by Com Truise), made by the Italian Crumar in 1984. On the Specular Tempus pedal, there are different great reverb algorithms, but I found the delay/reverb combinations like the one used in this video are the ST real power.

The Bit 99 has a wonderful filter, and you can listen when I turn up the resonance how the sound becomes sharper, almost metallic. In my opinion, the Specular Tempus adds a lot of character and space to the sound without altering the mood."
