"We spoke to Ivan from Endorphin.es about their Ghost and Golden Master pedals at Superbooth 2023. The Ghost pedal is inspired by the Ghost module designed in collaboration with Andrew Huang, and offers six routing options, three filters, three reverbs, and onboard modulation with various shapes including smooth, random, and envelope followers. The pedal also includes MIDI connectivity and nine different presets that can be controlled with MIDI CC values. Users can achieve different effects by changing the routing options and modulation, which can be easily done by pressing the mode assign button and tweaking the knob.

The Golden Master pedal, is a compressor that can be used to adjust the Q value or compress the signal. It also includes a multiband compressor and a stereo widening tool. Users can adjust the equalization settings, compressors, and presets, and mute or boost the low, mid, and high bands.

Both pedals available Autumn 2023.

"Andreas from Endorphine.es introduced us to two new pedals - the Golden Master and the Ghost . Ghost is a pedal that's developed from their original Eurorack module. It's a multi-dimensional effect processor designed for guitars and synthesizers. With three footswitches and nine presets. The pedal has primary and secondary values each with its own settings that are shown on a second page with different colour LEDs. Modulation can be assigned to any parameter, including the distortion or the filter, enabling multiple modulations. The pedal has full MIDI I/O, with every knob having a CC value and the delay able to receive or send MIDI clock.

The Golden Master has a multiband processor with compressor, EQ and mid-side processing with a similar sound to the original Eurorack module. With six routing sequences and a stereo enhancer for each of the three bands, the module has full MIDI I/O, with the delay able to receive or send MIDI clock. With nine presets and the ability to save quickly. The Golden Master is easy to operate, and Ghost was designed with the collaboration of Andrew Huang.

The 'Right' Sequencer | Modular Composing | Episode 02

"Your possibilities to compose on a Modular Synth are directly related to the sequencer you're using. So picking the 'right' sequencer for your work is an important task. Your biggest challenge would be to compose or arrange a full song with beats, bass, lead and maybe even chords. I thought it would be fun to use Kraftwerk's 1976 Trans-Europe Express as a 'benchmark', but it turned out a big challenge. It has a simple rhythm (no problem), a super simple bass, a lead and the characteristic 'note ladder' that jumps 5 semitones each 1/2 note. This takes 128 regular steps and sequencers ususally stop at 16, 32 or 64 (if you're lucky). Clock divisions could take care of that. But the song transposes to a different key when the 'note stairs' plays and you'll need a powerful sequencer to transpose all voices to a new key and then turn back. Ground Control and Westlicht Performer couldn't pull it off. I had zero knowledge of NerdSeq at the beginning of this video, but it turned out to be the only sequencer I know of that can do a full song. It's an incredible sequencer/tracker, but it also has a 100+ page manual.

Sequencers roughly come in three flavors: linear, cartesian and arbitrary. The most useful sequencers can do drums, strict patterns and generative parts. I've included Five12 Vector and Eloquencer in my overview, but I have no experience with them. My 'findings' in this video are biased by my own music and workflow and I double-checked the manuals of modules I don't know. It's possible I overlooked some features. I am aware Vector can do drums, but I felt you'd need a dedicated drum pattern editor to qualify as a drum sequencer.

"We will show you how to utilize these features in the context of 2 tracks by @trentemollerOfficial called Miss you and Moan. Trentemøller's music is known for extensive use of bitcrushing effects.
His tracks fit really well into the long, dark winters, characterised by imperfections and somewhat broken character of the sound, so we just had to try and recreate it and process it using our Ghost eurorack effect module.
