Cave Giants

davidryle

"A live performance with the 5U large format modular synthesizer.

Starting with an Encore Electronics frequency shifter and Yusynth Arp 4072 filter. Modulations to the frequency shifter from a Sputnik WCRS, and an Ian Fritz DDVCO in harmonic sequence mode.

The bass sequence is driven by the STG Soundlabs suite with two VMS and one TMS, a pair of EG's, a Switch module and the Time Divider. Clock timing from Cubase via dinsync to the Time Buffer. Four synthesizers.com Q106's into a Q150 transistor ladder filter and an Oakley SVF.

The melodic sequence is a pair of Q960 sequencers to a pair of Q106's through an STG Sea Devils filter and Q107 SVF.

The percussive tick sound is a Sputnik voltage controlled slope.

Cyber Psychic vs. Drum Machine

YouTube via Analogger. Not safe for work content in this one.
"I wrote a basic drum pattern using the Roland SH-32 and fed it thru the Cyber Psychic pedal. The lowpass filter on the pedal is capable of self-oscillation - and when you add the two internal oscillators modulating the resonance, you get all sorts of insane noise. Just minor adjustments on the knobs produce unexpected random results. I added a basic chord pattern with my Gibson SG (drop D tuning) thru a Damage Control Demonizer. As far as some of the other video clips - all I can say is thank Heaven for little girls. The end audio clip is from a guy who swears he can summon UFOs at will. He truly believes all religion stems from an alien encounter many years ago."

Cyber Psychic vs. Pigtronix Echolution

YouTube via Analogger
"The Csyber Psychic is a strange pedal that contains an analog lowpass filter with a pre-amp along with two oscillators that modulate the filter, input audio, and each other in bizarre ways. One of the basic ways to use it is with a guitar...but the Cyber Psychic is also capable of making insane noises by itself. I fed the Cyber Psychic into a Pigtronix Echolution which is a magnificent analog delay. It has a series of tap switches that can divide the echo into different rhythmic permutations. It is the best sounding analog delay I've ever heard. I was intending to put something up on YouTube with my guitar thru the Echolution but I got distracted when I plugged the Cyber Psychic into it. I had my little Marshall set up and miked, but once I started droning I set the guitar aside for another day. This is all recorded with my 30 watt Marshall on the clean setting using a Shure SM-57."
