Textquencer - Text Based MIDI Sequencer

Textquencer Quick Minute video upload by boxoftextures

"Just got Textquencer, a new 'bud' from Cem Olcay. It feels like it was one of those bonkers 'hey, what if I…' ideas you get when you least expect them. Absolute madness, in the best of ways LOL

It takes your text and converts it to MIDI notes. Can be randomly chaotic, reined-in ordered, or even manually composed, if that’s your style.

"Textquencer is a text-based MIDI Sequencer. It creates MIDI sequences from the plain text!

Each letter in the alphabeth triggers a note in the scale you are working.

Letter A triggers the Note C (the first note) in the C-Major Scale
Letter B triggers the Note D (the second note)
Letter C triggers the Note E (the third note)
Letter H triggers the Note C but an octave higher"

WAVES for Tera Pro

video upload by VirSyn

"The WAVES module adds classic Wavetable synthesis to the sound palette of Tera Pro. It’s an optional module which you can purchase separately. Wavetable synthesis is a sound design technique which uses morphing oscillator waves to create sounds.

Wavetables can store a variable number (From 1 to 1024) of different frames/waves, allowing you to scroll through from one wave to the next, creating a new level of movement in your sound design. This movement can be stepwise as in the famous early PPG synths or smooth (using interpolation) and antialiased for a polished modern sound. Tera Pro WAVES allows you to explore this entire range.

WAVES allows for different waveform frame sizes in the range of 128 up to 4096 samples per cycle and up to 1024 frames. More than a thousand public domain wavetables covering most areas are already included in WAVES, and more can be added by the user.

Available on the AppStore
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tera-pr...

Some key modulatable parameters:

Table position
Pitch (with or without keytracking)
Phase modulation
FM, with options for various oscillators, filters etc as carrier modules

Other parameters:

Hard and weak Osc Sync
Anti-aliasing (on/off)
Interpolation (on/off)
8-bit resolution option

And add all features of Tera Pro:

Massive range of LFO / envelope / miscellaneous modulators
MPE"

video upload by Ableton

"Learn about Note, a playable iOS app for forming musical ideas. Build beats, capture melodies, and sample the world around you. When you’re ready to take your ideas further, export your Set to Ableton Cloud and continue working in Live.

Learn more: https://www.ableton.com/note/
Download the app: https://apps.apple.com/app/ableton-no..." Is Ableton Note as close as we'll get to Live on an iPad? Here's what it can and can't do...
video upload by MusicRadar Tech

"After years of speculation, Ableton have released their first iOS app, Note. But this isn't exactly the iPad/iPhone version of Live some imagined. In this video we explore what Note is – and isn't – and ask if this is a must have for music makers."

"Start new musical ideas with a curated selection of sounds and effects. Play beats and melodic parts, sample your world, and continue your tracks in Ableton Live.

Note is a place to form ideas, experiment with sounds and find direction. Get your ideas out or play until inspiration hits using a selection of Ableton Live’s drum kits, synths and melodic instruments. Or create your own sound palette by recording the sounds around you into Note’s sampler instruments using your phone’s microphone.

If you want to take your ideas further, use Ableton Cloud to send your projects to Live without leaving the app. Open your project from Live’s browser, then keep working – you can edit all your MIDI notes, and all your samples and sounds from Note are exactly the same.

Begin with a beat:
• Choose from 56 Drum Sampler kits
• Tap out a beat using the 16-pad grid
• Quantize your beat to fix any loose timing
• Nudge notes to correct mistakes
• Add more layers of rhythm
• Create beat repetitions with Note Repeat
• Change parameters to shape your sound
• Experiment with effects

Start with a melody:
• Choose from 261 synth sounds and 36 Melodic Sampler instruments
• Play your melody or chord progression with either the 25-pad grid or the piano roll
• Set a key and scale to get instantly harmonic results, or leave your options open
• Overdub more layers of harmony
• Change parameters to shape your sound
• Add effects to experiment with sound design

Sample your environment:
• Create your own kits by recording percussive sounds into Note’s Drum Sampler
• Record tonal sounds to create your own Melodic Sampler instruments
• Manipulate your samples by cutting, filtering or repitching them
• Shape or transform your sounds with effects

Capture improvisations:
• Play something, then tap the Capture button to keep it
• Play at the tempo that feels comfortable and Note will detect it
• Note will recognize the length of the phrase
• A loop is created automatically
• Quantize it, add to it, or change the sound

Create variations:
• Note features a grid-based Session View layout
• Double your loops to create variation within clips
• Duplicate your clips and create different versions of your ideas
• Create eight tracks with up to eight clips on eight scenes
• Try different layer combinations and song structures
• Export your work in Session View as an audio file to listen and share"

Patchhero - An Extra Screen for the Sequential OB6 & Prophet 6

Note this is a 3rd party app, and not a Sequential product.

"Patchhero is the missing screen for your Sequential OB6 or Sequential Prophet 6 synthesiser; allowing you to navigate, name, categorise, and filter patches.

The Sequential OB6 and Sequential Prophet 6 synthesisers are contemporary instruments inspired by vintage counterparts. Specifically the Oberheim OB series of the 1980s and the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 of 1978.

Consistent with this heritage, both instruments have only simple numerical displays. Hidden in the patch data are patch names and patch sound categories. The numerical displays are unable to show this information.

Many musicians find descriptive patch names more memorable and inspiring than numbers. When auditioning sounds it’s helpful to organise them by sound category.

Patchhero is the missing screen for the Sequential OB6 and Sequential Prophet 6 synthesisers; allowing you to navigate, name, categorise, and filter patches.

Connect using the Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter via direct USB or via a USB MIDI interface. Connect wirelessly with Bluetooth, using a Bluetooth MIDI adaptor. Connect with Wi-Fi, using RTP-MIDI over a shared network.

Please see the user manual for a list of supported devices."

RRS Ivoks - Polivoks for iOS

video upload by The Sound Test Room

"The Red Rock Sound Ivoks Electromusical Synthesizer designed in the style of the Soviet synthesizer 1980's.

RRS Ivoks AUv3 instrument — comes as time-limited Demo-version for you to try. It gives you 5 minutes of Free play time. (You can reload the RRS Ivoks AUv3 instrument as many times as you want, thereby you get the Demo period again and again.) Unlimited version of RRS Ivoks AUv3 instrument comes as In-App Purchase.

On the centre panel are located two audio-frequency oscillators:

• OSC1 offers frequency Band regulator, five Waveforms and controls for LFO Modulation level plus OSC2 Cross-modulation;
• OSC2 offers the same frequency Band and Waveforms, an independent control for Modulation depth, plus Detuning.

Underneath these located the mixer, which offers level controls for the two Oscillators, the Noise generator, and Saturation Drive.

To the right of these, located the filter block. The top half is a standard ADSR envelope — until you flip the switch «Envelope mode», when it becomes a repeating AD-envelope instead. The four controls at the bottom adjust Cut-off, Resonance, LPF to BPF switch, Modulation level and Envelope level.

Next after the filter is the amplifier block, it also has ADSR envelope along with another Modulation level and Velocity sensitivity control. Again, the envelope can be switched to a Repeating Mode that generates a triangular waveform determined by the Attack and Decay settings, providing some of the instrument’s most distinctive effects.

The leftmost panels house the Modulation (LFO) controls (top), Mode which offers four waveforms, including noise, and a stepped Function for sample & hold (S&H) effects, well as Speed control.

And global settings such as the master Tune, master Volume, Legato mode, Monophonic and Duophonic operation and Unison switches, and the Glide control.

To use Ivoks as an instrument, you need an AUv3-compatible host app like GarageBand, Auria, AUM, Cubasis and more — RRS Ivoks will appear in the list of Audio Unit instruments in the host app."

VintageRack - Easy LoFi Vintage Vibe Effects

video upload by Igor Vasiliev

"VintageRack (iOS and macOS) is a minimalistic and convenient multi-effect application that contains modules realistically simulating notable retro gear from the early digital age with their natural lo-fi and warm aesthetics. Most of the effects in this application have been inspired and based on the principles of actual hardware from the 70s and 80s, which is great for giving the sound of any instrument the nostalgic and emotional mood of old recordings.

"VintageRack is a minimalistic and convenient multi-effect application that contains modules realistically simulating notable retro gear from the early digital age with their natural lo-fi and warm aesthetics. Most of the effects in this application have been inspired and based on the principles of actual hardware from the 70s and 80s, which is great for giving the sound of any instrument the nostalgic and emotional mood of old recordings.

This application has a clean and intuitive user interface with a well-considered structure. All controls are located on the main screen, which is divided into seven slots for processing (effect) modules. The first slot contains the module for controlling the input, the last one is for controlling the output. Each of the five slots in between are designed to use one of the effect modules. The input signal passes from the first to the last slot and is then sent to the output.

Each slot has a Master Fader that controls the presence of the effect, and a Mute button that smoothly turns the effect on and off. These controls are available to be assigned to a MIDI controller, or to use as audio unit parameters regardless of the type of module in the slot. Also in each slot, there is a Parameters button that opens a panel of additional parameters for each module. Additional parameters of modules are kept to a minimum and represent the most suitable use cases.

The key idea behind application control is to first adjust the parameters of modules, and then use only the Master Fader to change the presence or depth of the effect and the Mute button to turn it on and off. Everything is geared towards fast and easy use.

Another great feature of VintageRack is the ability to set a lower bit depth of processed signal, typical for early digital devices, both for the entire path and for individual modules. As with these devices, this application simulates pre- and post-processing of the analog signal both before and after the digital circuits with the addition of companders, emphasis and filters, which makes the sound similar to the real devices.

Effect modules:

- Analog-style compressor.
- Three band equalizer typical for mixing consoles.
- Classic and reverse delays with modulation feature.
- Two modules of Chorus simulating two well known devices.
- Two modules of Flanger with different options and tones.
- Two modules of Phaser with various sound character.
- AutoWah with several filters based on envelope generator.
- Combined effect of Tremolo and Vibrato with separate rate.
- Ring modulator with additional modulation of carrier.
- Two types of Fuzz with modulated filters.
- Simulation of one of the early digital reverbs.
- Input slot contains Noise gate and Automatic gain control.
- Output slot contains tape-style saturation and three general types of tonestack.

VintageRack is a universal application for iOS and macOS. It can work on iPhone and iPad as well as Mac / MacBook with M1 chip (and later). VintageRack works on iPhone and iPad standalone, as an Audio Unit or Inter-App Audio module, and supports Audiobus and Ableton Link. On MacOS, VintageRack can works both as a standalone application and as an Audio unit (AUv3) with DAWs and audio unit hosts like Ableton Live, Logic Pro, GarageBand, MainStage, Cockos Reaper, Plogue Bidule, Hosting AU, and other hosts that support AUv3 plugins. All application features are available on iOS and macOS, including MIDI support (with a MIDI learn option) and audio unit parameters. VintageRack has a built-in detailed description of all parameters also available as PDF file on the application site."

TROOPER Synthesizer for iOS

video upload by YonacSoftware

"TROOPER Synthesizer is available now on the App Store! Universal app for iPad and iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/trooper...

Thick basses, buttery leads, feathery pads — Trooper is a total synth explosion that crams it all and more in a neat little package. It sounds HUGE, yet tweaks easy. It’s coated in analog “fat,” yet bursts with tonal surprises nestled across its controls. Get ready for an all-out sonic assault, because Trooper is here and it's our meanest, beastliest, user-friendliest synth yet!

Many of Trooper’s parameters are meant to interact and meld together in novel ways. For example, the oscillator volumes —beyond just acting as mere blend knobs— vary the characteristics of the basic signal depending on how far they are 'pushed'. The emphasis is on providing warm and round basic tones with lots of variable harmonic content.

The primary oscillators are backed by an audible LFO that is both a sound source and a wide frequency range modulator. This lets FM-based sounds to combine with traditional waveforms. A pink/white noise generator helps out pads and percussions, and insidiously changes tonality when added in small amounts.

A new filter implementation complements the pugnacity of the signal generators. In its middish settings, the resonance can be characterized as “throaty.” The filter is capable of self-oscillating, and can be controlled via the keyboard. The mated ADSR envelope is shaped to provide tonal ‘immediacy’ and smooth frequency shifts. The amount knob has a wide range that changes the feel and shape of the envelope, especially when pushed above the mid-level.

The output stage features a virtual VCA that imparts tones colloquially termed as “fat”. Extra modulation is provided by a non-audible LFO and a dedicated envelope. The LFO offers numerous wave shapes, BPM syncing, and key tracking. Its output is controllable via the mod wheel, velocity, or aftertouch.

The Esprit parameter helps deploy some of the Trooper “special sauce.” Highly interactive with the stages preceding it, Esprit is known to be handy in tightening up bass tones, and in adding the "je nais se quois” to presets at large. The Get6 parameter is a one-touch ticket to big, mix-filling synth sounds. So whenever you’re lost in an empty mix…it’s got your six.

The arpeggiator inspires rhythms with five algorithms, variable note value, octave range, and gate. The 'Texturizer' purveys a wide range of modulation effects that include chorus, flanging, variable comb, resonant delay, and stereo imaging. The BPM-syncable two-tap delay has time and feedback controls per channel, and is tuned a little darker than our usual offerings. Trooper can run in monophonic or polyphonic mode, the latter providing up to 12 voices. Legato is available in either mode.

The robust MIDI implementation also includes MPE support, and the synth is able to I/O MIDI performance data. The 'MagTouch' virtual controller lets you to play and record (in AUv3 hosts so enabled) over the MPE protocol. MIDI learn is made easy via a visual interface, and users can save, patch-link, and share MIDI CC maps. Bluetooth MIDI input is also supported.

The AUv3 implementation lets you to run multiple instances of Trooper in DAWs. Trooper’s fluid UI accommodates a wide variety of screen sizes and view configurations. Feature navigation is designed to be nonintrusive so that parameters can be accessed easily. The iPad implementation supports portrait layout, so that pretty much all is on one screen.

Included are over 250 presets that range from deep basses to weird so-and-so's, stopping by many other sounds along the way. The powerful YPAT2 system helps you save, catalog, and share presets with ease.

The standalone app provides a “Tapedeck” to record, save, and share your ideas on the quick. It features a built-in looper, and a metronome with configurable time signature. The standalone also features tap tempo, and MIDI clock syncing. DSP is in high resolution 64-bit, with native processing at up to 96kHz."
