Best Ambient Synth Shootout #51: Olegtron 4060 MK2 - Song 1

Published on Aug 7, 2018 Christian's Sonic Spaces

"This is the first song with the Olegtron 4060 MK2. It's an experimental signal generator. Signals and sequences are generated by sticking all kind of electronical components to its patchboard. Pretty cool!

I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Olegtron 4060 MK2 - Alesis Philtre - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2 - Alesis 3630 (bassdrum on sidechains). Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated

The signal went through a small Behringer mixer with a Korg Kaoss Pad KP3+ in the FX bus into the pc for recording. The song was then mastered with noise reduction and a bit compression/limiting.

To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track.

Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)"

Tworist - Little Empty Case

Published on Mar 19, 2017 ba ko

"A little sunday afternoon jam.

Sorry for the noisy quality, I just recorded straight into my camera due to not having a good video editor software and to do it the easy way.
If someone know a better way to record video and audio simultaneously, let me know. :)

Used gear:

Elektron AnalogRytm for beats
Elektron Octatrack for sequencing synths and for some effects
MAM MB33 Retro for bass
Waldorf Blofeld for pads and sound effects
Teenage Engineering OP-1 for key-sounds
Make Noise 0-Coast for the sequence (contains a figure of Boards of Canada's BMX Track)
Doepfer A-124 Wasp Filter for filtering the 0-Coast
Olegtron 4060 to modulate the 0-Coast
Some guitar Pedals for reverb and delay
Boss SE-70 for reverb
Canon Eos 70d for video recording"

Olegtron Confusor 2 generative sequencing

Published on Jun 15, 2016 Olegtron

"Olegtron Confusor 2 is here! In this video Korg Volca Beats gives the master clock to the sequence. The clock signal is divided into lower frequencies, that are fed to gate inputs of Confusor 2, resulting in the patch being rearranged in a rhythmic way. One gate is controlled with an audio signal with PWM modulation, making the switch kind of "fade". Audio signal is also divided into sub octaves are fed into the Confusor 2 signal inputs.

Melodies and variation in the sequence are generated from the clock divider and other sources with the help of an Olegtron R2R-module, a weghted mixer usable as a D/A-converter, multiple and attenuator, all at once!

Add a couple of VCA's and envelopes, a generic oscilator and a filter, and you got a credible imitation of AC/DC's Thunderstruck going on (with enough resemblance to make it to playlist radios, but little enough to avoid a lawsuit).

The module is available right now in a limited hand made edition. To make sure you get one, please write to olegtron@gmail.com"

Olegtron CONFUSOR Eurorack Demo Jam (w/ Bastl GrandPa & more ...) #TTNM

Published on Dec 29, 2015

"Jamming with the Olegtron CONFUSOR eurorack module...

The Olegtron CONFUSOR is a 4x4 manual switch module, which lets you route four normalled inputs to four separate outputs. The signal path is not immediately obvious though (although not hard to understand), which makes it a very fun "semi-random" performance module. You know what you put into it, but you don't necessarily know where the things come out ;-) ...

Audio gear used:
- Eurorack Modular Synthesizer (with Olegtron Confusor, Bastl Instruments GrandPa, intellijel Quadra, Synthrotek EKO, Doepfer Phase Shifter, Klangbau Köln Spring Reverb, Klangbau Logistische Gleichung, and more ... )
- Korg Volca Beats (drum machine)
- Tascam DR-40 Recorder"

Olegtron 4060 meets Sonic Potions Penrose!

Published on Oct 26, 2015 Olli Suorlahti

"It's not just the color schemes that match when you bring Olegtron 4060 and Sonic Potions Penrose quantizer together! This video shows one example how 4060 can be patched to control Penrose with CV and trigger signals. Thought 4060 was musical already? Well, now it's in tune too!"

Olegtron* 4060 from Samuel van Dijk on Vimeo.

"The Olegtron* 4060 is a compact oscillator/divider box capable of creating unique signals and sequences through a revolutionary programming method of sticking components to it’s patchboard. The device can be used as a standalone sound generator that connects with a 3.5mm stereo jack output or to control a wide variety of machines, such as toys or synths with control voltage, clock or gate input.

Here the 4060 is controlling the Anyware Tinysizer through clock and gate signals. The 4060's output is going through the Tinysizer's multimode filter. Thanks to Olli Suorlahti for donating this fun and very powerful machine!

OLEGTRON 4060 introduction & basic patches (w/ MicroBrute) #TTNM

Published on Nov 22, 2014 The Tuesday Night Machines

"Skip to 4:12 for the internal patch examples
Skip to 8:53 for patch examples with the Arturia MicroBrute

The Olegtron 4060 is an analog oscillator or signal generator. In this video I demonstrate how to patch it, to produce audio and control voltage signals, which can be used for electronic music. Towards the end of the video I patch it into my Arturia MicroBrute analog synthesizer, but you can of course also use it with modular synthesizers or other analog gear.
