The SYNTH-WERK Model 15 can serve you in many ways:

IN THE STUDIO
Make your Model 15 the center of your recording studio and upgrade your modular synthesizer setup with a sound that cre- ated legends. Except for phone-plug-size 5U-modules are by the way fully compatible and patchable to Eurorack Systems, so it ́s not about adding another niche, it’s about expanding your own musical eco-Model and let it grow.

ON STAGE
The SYNTH-WERK Model 15 is a powerfull performer, longing to be used live on stage. Whether you will use it with a sequenc- ing-unit or a keyboard, be assured to have some outstanding sonic possibilities right there at your fingertips. Playing this won- derful instrument is more like talking to an old friend, analogue to that time and space being second-tier – so: enjoy!

The Synthesizer 15 build from 1974 on, equal to its numbered 12 and 10 predeces- sor, was a landmark of craftsmanship.

Likewise its forerunner, the SYNTH-WERK Model 12 is considered an extraordinary example of a supreme and compact com- bination of 5U-tools with explicit portability in mind. Every single unit is composed from a careful selection of the finest prime parts available. At heart it relies on our latest achievement in successfully recre- ating the versatility of the 921 Oscillator in every aspect imaginable, resulting in a SW921A Control Unit combined with two SW921B-Oscillators, alongside an indepen- dent SW921 module.

Compared to the puristic design and mu- sical rawness of its ancestor, the SYNTH- WERK 921 unfolds its capabilities likewise in a much more sophisticated and grownup manner, accompanied by increased tonal flexibility. This is mainly obtained by careful observation of the original build and meanwhile rethinking the whole circuit to produce a VCO that sounds as good as the original. Therefore we respectfully integrat- ed only highly accurate parts and authentic NOS parts, following the original circuit design without any compromise!

The units are extended by a classic SW903A Random Signal Generator as well as the voltage controllable famous lowpass Ladder Filter model SW904A which imparts essentially every audiosource imaginable with its unique character.

More sound sculpting possibilities are implemented with a SW907A Half-octave Filter module that is capable to come up with some structural and flexible formant shaping, not at least due to some integrated custom made high-class inductors. Besides dynamic modulation the two SW911 ele- ments can be used to describe the contour and envelope of the resulting sound by targeting the SW902 Amplifier or as well controlling the SW904A Lowpass-Filter. Regarding attack and decay times you can choose from the same luscious bandwidth like its reference from two milliseconds up to ten seconds.

It is worth mentioning, that you can decide to go for a custom configuration containing the advanced SW914 Fixed Filter Bank, a MIDI/CV Interface or any other configura- tion you desire. The SYNTH-WERK Model 15 ships perfectly embraced in a tolex cov- ered replica of an original Moog Style trav- el-enclosure with front lid and an integrated well-spaced custom power supply unit.

Ambient Waves Trailer 2

Ambient Waves Trailer 2 from Open Video Medien Labor on Vimeo.

You can find the first trailer here. Ambient Waves is an electronic music festival taking place in München (Munich), Germany May 23 - 25. As you can see via the list in the video, and the details below, the event will feature some well known modular manufacturers and musicians.

The following is the description for the video in German followed by a Googlish translation for the archives:

| Ambient Waves - Kosmische Musik in der Kirche |

KARTEN Vorbestellung:
https://www.nazareth-projekt.de/karten-vorbestellung/

Website: https://www.ambient-waves-cosmic-music-festival.de

SYNTH-WERK SW905 5U Reverberation Module Now Available

via SYNTH-WERK

"The SW905 Reverberation Unit utilizes a dual spring type acoustic delay line to produce a succession of decaying echoes of an audio signal. A single panel control determines the ratio between the amounts of reverberated and non-reverberated signals that appear at the output jack. In addition the SW905 offers two modes of operation:

Regular mode
the relative amount of the echo signal and direct signal can be continuously changed from 100% direct signal to 100% echo signal.

„Emerson“ modification
the output signal is continuously mixed with the direct signal and the knob on the faceplate controls the level of the mix. The direct signal is passed through unaffected.

Both modes of operation can be selected on the board of the module.

MUSICAL APPLICATION
When a dynamically varying signal is applied to the input of the SW905, the output will consist of a series of closely spaced echoes, the subjective effect of which is similar to that of reverberation of sound. When a static signal is applied to the input of the SW905, the output will also be static. The SW905 will perform in this application like a formant filter, strongly coloring the timbre of any signal with appreciable harmonic content."

Update: for those curious why there isn't a switch for the two modes on the front pannel, I asked SYNTH-WERK and they replied with the following: "As you know we reproduce the Moog modules 100% like the original and therefore it is our policy not to add additional functionality on the front panel. We have a lot of customers using SYNTH-WERK modules to complete an existing Moog System and this requires 100% Moog from the outside and the inside.

And…You are right the Emerson Moog had a modified 905 including an additional Input…But…We are always discussing what is the right approach.

The next level of SYNTH-WERK will be an answer to the question „what would have happened if the Modular 900 series would still be alive with Robert Moog?“ How would actual modules look like…And we have already a couple of answers."

Merry Christmas from SYNTH-WERK...

"Dear friends of SYNTH-WERK,

We are now almost 6 years in operation and we are very happy and excited about the fantastic relationship between you and us.
Thank you for your trust and support in 2018.

'The designs of a musical instrument include two important aspects. The technical aspect but also the human aspect, which allows the musician to get in resonance with the instrument. The user interface is a major part but there is even more to be considered. It is important for the constructor of such devices to find the right balance between the two aspects. If the technical aspect is the only one considered you might get a perfect product, based to measurement results, but if the musician is not able to get in resonance with the instrument, you failed.
None of the modules of a Moog Modular are perfect in terms of measurement results or the technical aspect. They are changing their behavior depending on temperature and other influences but they value the human aspect and are very well balanced between the technical and the human point of view. Bob Moog was a genius as an engineer, but he was also a philosopher balancing the two aspects.'
Gerhard Mayrhofer

'When you connect with an instrument, no matter of what sort, there is an interaction that’s outside of what’s actually going through your fingers. I hesitate to use the word ‘spiritual’, but I’m absolutely sure that there is a consciousness that we connect with.'
Bob Moog

We wish you and your families a merry Christmas and a peaceful 2019!

SYNTH-WERK Introduces SW 912 Envelope Follower

"The SW912 Envelope Follower produces two functions, which can be used separately or in conjunction. The follower circuit signal input presents a control voltage output (DC) proportional to the average amplitude of the AC input signal. The second function, a Schmitt trigger, generates a V-trigger above a threshold voltage (comparator), when a slowly varying or DC voltage is introduced at the control input jack. The normalling of the control output of the follower circuit to the control input of the Schmitt trigger circuit allows both control voltage and trigger to be generated from a single variable source.

MUSICAL APPLICATION
THe SW912 Envelope Follower is an extremely useful module for interfacing external sources with the many functions of the synthesizer, which require both control voltages and triggers to function. Filter or amplitude variations can be achieved by routing the audio signal to both the processing modules and the Envelope Follower. The control voltage of the follower circuit can raise or lower the cutoff frequency of a voltage controlled filter. At the same time, the Envelope Generator can be triggered by the V-trigger output of the follower, causing a VCA to gate the original signal above a certain amplitude. This latter operation can be very useful as a noise gate, closing down an audio signal when the level drops below a nominal setting. One further use involves generating random triggers from the Envelope Follower by utilizing white noise or pink noise as a signal input and carefully setting the threshold level to achieve a speed of trigger selection."
