video upload by CatSynth TV
"We present a follow-up to last week's review and tutorial for the #Stylophone Gen R-8, featuring some viewer suggestions and a few other tips and tricks. We compare the filter (highpass, lowpass, and notch) with drive on and off, use keyboard CV to track filter cutoff, and use Osc 2 output CV to modulate other parameters.
If you haven't already seen our full tutorial, we recommend checking that out as well: • Stylophone Gen R-8: the largest, rarest, a... [posted here]

"We explore the quirky and elusive Stylophone Gen R-8, a big sibling to the Stylophone series that sported two VCOs, a multimode filter, several modulators, a sequencer, and connectivity for both MIDI and Eurorack CV. Only 500 Gen R-8s were made, and we at CatSynth are fortunate enough to have one here at HQ. We go through all of its major features, and connecte one of our workhorse Eurorack modules, the the "Euro Serge" Dual Universal Slope Generator, for external modulation."

David Lynch's Synth Gear Up for Auction
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
Apprenlty JULIEN*S auction house is auctioning off David Lynch's belongings.

Among the items you will some of studio equipment including the synths pictured here. It's interesting to see the gear he used. The Roland MKS-70 (JX10/JX-8P) used on Twin Peaks is not listed as I believe it was owned and by Angelo Badalamenti, not Lynch. I included his portable audio recording equipment, not as a synth, but as a possible sample source. Unfortunately the listing does not mention if there are any recordings present in them so keep that in mind if you bid. It would be a shame if they were removed.
Most of the items mention they were "owned and used by David Lynch in his personal recording studio."
Images in this post were captured in the order listed for each listing.
E-Mu Systems E III Model 6083 SN 02200324
Korg microX SN 003322 & Yamaha Motif 7 SN 1001208
Korg KAOS Pad KP3 SN 057331 & Kaossilator SN 080602
"Dumbland" Boss VT-1 Voice Transformer with Box Set and Studio-Used Microphones
Stylophone Pocket Synthesizer
Lot of Three Synthesizers: Alesis Nanosynth, Gakken SX-150 Mark II, Roland JV-1010 SN BN26304
Roland SPD-20 Sampling Pad SN FV41503
Portable Audio Recording Equipment - not a synth, but you have to wonder what recordings, if any, may be preserved for sample sources.

"A relaxing ambient jam using a new patch I created on the Oberheim TEO-5, accompanied by the Sylophone CPM DS-2 drone synth. Effects for TEO-5 were provided by the Walrus Audio Qi Etherealizer pedal, and the Korg NTS-1 (offscreen) provided effects for the DS-2. Recorded on a Zoom H6."

Stylophone CPM DS-2: Dark Atmospheric Sounds. No Talk Demo
video upload by Anton Anru
"Obsidian is a collection of 50 custom presets for the analog synthesizer Stylophone CPM DS-2. In this pack, you’ll find drones, textures, FXs, rhythmical patterns and sequences, and immersive soundscapes.
๐ฎ I was fascinated by exploring this drone machine, and in this collection, I share the results of that journey. My goal was to extract a broad variety of timbres— dark, noisy, vintage/retro, cold, dull, distorted, metallic, tense, as well as atonal, non-harmonic, FX-like, evolving, moving, and sweeping sounds.
๐ฆ Get the soundset: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/cpm-...
๐บ The soundset draws inspiration from sci-fi movies, soundtracks, dystopian narratives, urban landscapes, noise ambient albums, experimental modern art, and innovative sound design.
๐ป Perfect for genres such as Dark, Noise, Ambient, Cinematic, IDM, Electronica, Dub, Deep, Techno, Industrial, Minimal, Garage, Experimental, and more. These timbres also work exceptionally well for movie soundtracks, games, apps, digital art, live sound art performances, and VR landscapes—anywhere a dark, atmospheric vibe is needed.
๐ The soundset is presented in a PDF document. Each page contains notes explaining how each patch works, which parameters to tweak during playback, and techniques to further develop the timbre during performance. By following these instructions and experimenting with the suggested settings, you’ll deepen your understanding of the synth and unlock its true potential.
๐ง Each patch also includes an audio example to help you grasp the intended sound.
๐พ The collection additionally includes 24/41000 WAV samples. You can use these samples as they are, or feel free to resample, edit, and apply effects in your DAW, sampler, or granular synth. They provide versatile material for your sonic experimentation.
๐ฒ The Stylophone CPM DS-2 is an analog synthesizer highly sensitive to both settings and performance. I’ve done my best to document all parameters precisely; however, expect slight variations, as this is a truly alive, analog instrument. This is especially true for pitch, tuning, and FM settings—and in some cases, on the delay. The PITCH/RATE and LFO DEPTH knobs are extremely responsive— even a slight movement can shift the pitch significantly.
Many presets don’t adhere to a strict tonal center, so feel free to experiment with frequency settings. If you need to hit specific notes, I recommend using a tuner when adjusting pitch and FM."

Characterless
video upload by Uncertain Music Corps
"Someone said to me they thought the DS-2 lacked character. So I thought I'd see what it made of that notion, without using external or internal patching. And recorded the result direct to camera.
Put this on decent speakers, accept that YouTube compression is lossy and decide for yourself."

The Dual - Stylophone CPM DS-2 + 2xSQ1 jam - Song-a-day 2025
video upload by ChrisLody
"I've been wanting to upload something with the Stylophone CPM DS-2 for ages. It's a very fine bit of gear, mostly designed to make slowly evolving drone sounds. But luckily it's also equip with Eurorack compatible inputs meaning the drone oscillators can play tuneful stuff too. It also has an LFO with a reset function meaning it can be used for basic envelope duties.
I ended with 2 Korg SQ-1's after I bought my Ms20 Mini last year as John (Acrelid) offered it to me at a price I couldn't resist. So here they're clocked together so I can have 2 pitches going to the two different oscillators. There's only one LFO reset so the top SQ1 is used for gates, but the bottom one is set to a different length of steps which makes for some interesting stuff.
The Bastl Bestie and Volcas are doing bog standard stuff. All audio is passing through the reverb in the CPM DS-2"

Stylophone CPM DS-2 - A Drone-Head's First Impressions
video upload by Oscillator Sink
"I don't tend to do review videos - there are others on YouTube who do it well and I don't usually feel like I have anything to add... but the Stylophone DS-2 is an analogue drone synth with built in effects, released by a company usually more well known for more conventional offerings and, I don't know if you've noticed this, but I really like making music with drones.
This video is a real-time documentary of discovery, it arrived earlier on the day I recorded the video and, other than 5 minutes in a noisy exhibition hall last year, I've not had an opportunity to explore this synth until today. Let's see what lurks inside..."
