Arduino tracker on ESP32 developed from scratch - little sneak peak of a tracker/synthesizer project

video upload by Marcel Licence

"I have started to develop a tracker from scratch.
It runs on the ESP32 and also contains features from my previous projects.
The file format is quite simple.
All samples are integrated in the .mod file.
There are also patterns that are put together as a song.
I copied post effects from my old projects and added a feature to play the embedded sounds/samples.
Feel free to leave comments with ideas and suggestions to move the project forward.

Used tracker files:
- Patrick Phelan - Lotus3_Cd6-Shamrip.mod
- Patrick Phelan - Lotus3_Cd3-Lotus3.mod
- BOULA.MOD
- MONSTER.MOD
- PRES.MOD
- MINES.MOD
- bodyblow.mod
- 2unlimitedmagic.mod
- 2unlimitedmix.mom

trkr_Trm - Upcoming Portable Hardware Groovebox Tracker

video upload by hinick

trkr_Trm is a new 64bit real-time tracker/groovebox that runs on the Linux.

The following are some details in via the creator, hi_nick aka hihihihinick.

"The device is implicitly designed for hosting Renoise, but as shown can be used for many other ARM64 based programs. Even the well loved headless M8 tracker. I wanted to make something that was just as fun and musically useful as some of the other retail offerings but following the tenants of open source hardware and software so anyone can roll their own. The demo is of the v1 t prototype, and there is still much to be done, but at present, I'm up to prototype v3. The focus presently is completion of the design for the main board which will serve as a carrier for Raspberry Pi compute modules, or offerings from other companies that use the compute module form factor. This carrier board ideally could be used for other purposes than the trkr_Trm, that require audio i/o, and modular connections to peripheral devices.

The goal is to have everything, including build guides, hardware, and software repositories live upon completion of a crowd funding campaign. Pre-built units for those who just want to 'get to cookin' will be available if all goes to plan during and post funding."

Rare Music App on an Old Pocked Computer

video upload by Alexander Zolotov

"Demonstration of the PsyTexx music tracker on the old and slow Palm Tungsten T PDA (16mb RAM; 144 MHz CPU).

Music: NightRadio - Polar Radio (2005)
Download: https://nightradio.bandcamp.com/album...
Full discography: https://nightradio.bandcamp.com

PsyTexx is the first Amiga MOD-based player and tracker for PalmOS. It includes a 12-channel sampler and pattern editor with support for non-standard audio effects (echo,filter,distortion,etc.).
This is one of my first music apps before I started creating SunVox.

MicroDexed-Touch Nextgen Preview

video uploads by positionhigh

DIY Groovebox / Synth / Sequencer with 6 OP FM, VA and Sampling, based on a Teensy4.1

"These videos are very short feature demos that show what might become part of the microdexed project in the future.

This build will require a Teensy 4.1 Microcontroller and a graphical display with 320x240 pixel instead of the traditional 2x16 character text-display.

The screen also includes a resistive touch screen that will be concidered in the development. Other than that, we will keep the 2 encoders for interacting with the interface as it is.

This demo reel contains most of the new functions that are currently in development. Also you see the replacement of the Teensy Audio Adaptor by the PCM 5102 and the space for the external flash chip. Further, we will introduce some case improvements by screws going into threaded inserts. Case dimensions will be identical, as they were before.

Not everything of the new features is ready to use but at least you can get a glimpse of what is going to happen next.

Making demo reel videos is a lot harder than it looks. Maybe there will be one more at the end of 2022 and then the next will come up in 2023.

If you are involved in audio/microcontroller development as a passion, feel free to let us know if you like to participate and join the project development.

Warhawk [C64] music on TI-82 Calculator - HoustonTracker 2

tubesockor

This one is in via @tubesockor

"This is a TI-82 remake of the Commodore 64 soundtrack for the game Warhawk, originally composed by Rob Hubbard in 1986. It is programmed down to the deepest details on a Texas Instruments TI-82 graphing calculator using “HoustonTracker 2”.
I start with a tech dive into how sound is generated on Commodore 64 and the TI calculator (which doesn’t have a sound chip) as well as 1-bit music in general. Then the song appears, including a custom-written visualiser that I made.

0:00 Welcome
0:20 Commodore 64 & SID
0:58 Texas Instruments TI-82
1:27 1-bit audio on TI-82
2:04 Pulse Interleaving
2:57 HoustonTracker 2 overview
3:47 Warhawk background
4:08 HoustonTracker 2 startup on TI-82
5:58 Warhawk performed on TI-82

Forms - Screen Ensemble

Forms - Screen Ensemble from Playmodes Studio on Vimeo.

This one reminds me of a virtual ANS meets tracker. Details and pics follow:

"Forms -Screen Ensemble- is a generative visual music jukebox. Driven by chance and probability, this automata creates endless, unrepeatable graphic scores that are immediately transformed into sound by means of sonification algorithms. Images become sound spectrums, making it possible to -literally- hear what you see. The dream of Kandinski.

Each screen of this networked ensemble plays a particular instrumental role: Rhythm, Harmony or Texture.

Performed by this trio of automats, a visual music symphony evolves over time giving birth to unique sonic landscapes that will never be repeated again: from tonal ambient music to raging rhythms, surreal electronic passages or dance-floor beats.

Forms - Screen Ensemble was presented at 2020's edition of Ars Electronica festival in Barcelona, thanks to a grant given by NewArtFoundation, Institut Ramón Llull and Hangar.org.
