The Voice of Saturn: Voltage Controlled Filter

flickr By Analogue Haven

"Eurorack modular owners can welcome a new manufacturer as The Voice of Saturn has made their Voltage Controlled Filter available for the format.

From the manufacturer:
The VoS Voltage Controlled Filter is based around a CEM3372 filter IC (4-pole resonant low-pass filter)- the same chip found in the filters of such analog classics as the Sequential Circuits Prophet 600, Prophet T8 and Oberheim Xpander. It features two inputs that are summed and then fed into the low-pass filter. The input and output volumes, cutoff frequency and resonance can all be controlled by VC (voltage control) or knobs. One other cool feature of the CEM series filter chips is that as the resonance is turned up, the volume level does not drop as dramatically as it does in other analogs (including the famous Moog Ladder Filter).

Modules are now in-stock and we'll update our website with more details soon!"

lil chud cvm modular

lil chud cvm modular from blake helton on Vimeo.

"This is my first stab at posting a vid - here's my new Lil CHUD CVM synth masterminded by Travis Thatcher (Voice of Saturn wizard/aka recompas). I messed up and only captured the right audio channel. I'll git this vidjio thing down.

This custom modular consists of a MFOS VCO, Buchla Lopass Gate clone, 2 modified Voice of Saturn modulators & CEM-based VoS VCF. Banana plugs. Knobz. What else do you need? A keyboard (get outta here)!"

Voice of Saturn booster/distortion

via recompass
"The Voice of Saturn booster/distortion pedal is a fet-amp based guitar effect that will seriously overdrive any amp put in its path. Capable of increasing gain to well over 100x the input signal, this unit will make tubes scream like no other. Featuring true-bypass design and a passive lo-pass filter than can be switched on to limit higher frequencies, the booster/distortion pedals are all hand-painted by different artists. Each one is unique. Soon to be available on the Curious Inventor website and in select boutiques."

Study Music

Study Music from Pete Shambler on Vimeo.

"A patch that was left up and slowly tweaked over three or four weeks while I was studying for the GREs.

This is where it was the day that I took the exam.

Voices:

1. Tip Top Z3000, with CV from a Doepfer 160/138c combo sequencer, and FM from a Make Noise Maths (the first, audio rate channel of which is FMing the second, audio rate channel).

2. Bubblesound uLFO (which is receiving CV from a Voice of Saturn Sequencer), fed into a Doepfer 196.

3. A Boss Dr. Sound ("clap" preset), being triggered by the 5 and 8 steps of a Doepfer 161 (via a DIY "OR" logic gate).

The square out from a Plan B Elf LFO is the master clock of the patch. It is multed to (a) the Trig In on the 160, (b) the Clock In on the VoS Sequencer and (c) the CP4 input on a Doepfer 143-1.

The Envelope 1 out on the 143-1 is patched to the CV in on the top half of a Doepfer 132-3 (the Z3000/Maths voice); the Envelope 3 out is patched to the CV in on the bottom half of the 132-3 (the uLFO/PLL voice). Envelope 4 is sent to the Signal In on the first Maths channel.
