iPulseV201 v1.2 Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI iPad Editor Now Available‏‏‏‏‏‏

YouTube Uploaded by iControlMIDI on Feb 3, 2012

"Apple has released iPulseV201 v1.2 our Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI iPad Editor for Waldorf Pulse / Pulse+ v2.01

As it is in the Waldorf family, we are providing a workflow similar to the iControlMIDI editors for the Blofeld and Microwave 1.

iControlMIDI has all the Pulse parameters sonically logically organized; like OSC Pages with OSC modulations, VCF Page with VCF modulations and envelop, VCA Page with VCA modulations and envelop.

As usual iControlMIDI will display the parameter name ex: OSC Shape and the parameter value ex: Saw.

To offer an even better user experience, iControlMIDI displays some numerical parameter in % (ex: OSC Pulse Width and VCF Key Tracking); Hz (ex: LFO Speed) or BPM (ex: ARP Tempo); rather than plain numbers.

In order to offer an even faster workflow:
• iControlMIDI automatically enables OSC Pulse Width parameter if the OSC Shape is equal to Pulse or Cross Modulation
• iControlMIDI automatically disables OSC Pulse Width parameter if the OSC Shape is equal to Saw or Triangle
• iControlMIDI automatically enables Modulation Source and Modulation Destination parameters if the Modulation Amount parameters is different than zero
• iControlMIDI automatically disables Modulation Source and Modulation Destination parameters if the Modulation Amount parameter is equal to zero

The Pulse and Pulse+ can be edited using the following Pages:
• Page 1: OSC1 and OSC1 Modulations
• Page 2: OSC2 and OSC2 Modulations
• Page 3: OSC3
• Page 4: Noise, External In (+), CV2 (+), OSC Pitch and Pitch Modulations
• Page 5: VCF, VCF Modulations and VCF Envelop [ENV1]
• Page 6: VCA, VCA Modulations and VCA Envelop [ENV2]
• Page 7: LFO1 and LFO2
• Page 8: Modulation Matrix [1 to 4]
• Page 9: Arpeggiator"

iK3m v1.2 Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI iPad Editor Now Available

YouTube Uploaded by iControlMIDI on Jan 13, 2012

"Apple has released iK3m v1.2 our Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI iPad Editor for Kawai K3 / K3m.

iControlMIDI for the K3 / K3m offers a very intuitive workflow that will help “open-up” the synth:
• Substrative Synthesis: as usual iControlMIDI will display the parameter name ex: DCO Wave and the parameter value ex: Saw and the parameters are sonically logically organized: DCO Page with DCO modulations, VCF Page with VCF modulations and VCA Page with VCA modulations.
• Additive Synthesis: you can do it in 3 simple steps!
Step 1: You have a visual representation of the 128 harmonics and you can adjust the harmonic level for each of them - but this will not send any MIDI message at this step in order to not overload the K3 / K3m;
Step 2: Then, with one button (ADD “Send!”) you can send your additive synthesis wave (first 32 non zero-level harmonics only) to the K3 / K3m Internal Additive Wave;
Step 3: Then, to offer pseudo-real-time workflow you can press the TONE 1 “Send!” button which will send all the Substrative Synthesis parameters to Internal TONE 1 and send a MIDI Program Change for TONE 1 which will let you hear your Additive Wave inside the TONE 1 if you have selected DCO Wave 32 (Additive) for DCO1 or DCO2. Sweet! Of course you should back-up your TONE 1 and / or Internal Additive Wave to the cartridge or your computer before.

The K3 and K3m can be edited using the following Pages:
• Page 1: DCO, DCO Modulations, Additive “Send!” button and TONE 1 “Send!” button
• Page 2: VCF, VCF Envelop, VCF Modulations and LFO
• Page 3: VCA, VCA Envelop and VCA Modulations
• Page 4: Additive Synthesis Harmonic 1 to 32 levels
• Page 5: Additive Synthesis Harmonic 33 to 64 levels
• Page 6: Additive Synthesis Harmonic 65 to 96 levels
• Page 7: Additive Synthesis Harmonic 97 to 128 levels"

TB MIDI Tiny Stuf for iPhone and iPod Touch

From the makers of TB MIDI Stuff

"***** LAUNCH PRICE (60% offers for limited time) *****

TB MIDI Tiny Stuff is a tiny generic modular MIDI control surface for iPhone and iPod Touch.

The built-in page editor lets you create your own pages. It contains some useful tools like pasteboard, undo manager, multi selection or z-order managment.

All drum pads in your custom pages can use Accelerometer Velocity for notes On messages. They can also fire multiple notes at the same time to create "one hit" configurations (each note can use or not the accelerometer velocity).

All pages can be shared via iTunes with a desktop computer or via e-mail directly in the app. You can import pages from Mail and Safari.

TB MIDI Tiny Stuff use CoreMidi : you can use any supported device, like the native WiFi driver. Each page can use a different CoreMidi driver. Also works with Virtual MIDI Ports applications capable and the app provides two virtual MIDI out ports.

Controls can use the accelerometer as input (even faders and knobs), in each dimension (X, Y, Z or, for XY Pads, a mix of them).

The application library contains :

- Rotary sliders
- Horizontal sliders
- Vertical sliders
- Horizontal faders (with different colors)
- Vertical faders (with different colors)
- Mixer knobs (with different colors and flavors)
- Black knobs
- Drum Pads
- XY Pads
- Rounded rects
- Labels

Each control can drive simultaneously multiple MIDI messages like Control Change messages (single 7bits and coarse/fine 14bits), RNP/NRPN messages (7 and 14bits), Pitch Bend messages, Program Changes messages, Note On/Off messages.

You can open up to 32 pages simultaneously. You can manage the pages order, open multiple instances of the same page and change the MIDI Out driver or the MIDI Out channel (or both) without entering the editor for each instance.

TB MIDI Tiny Stuff contains some demo and template pages.

Note : TB MIDI Tiny Stuff doesn't manage SYSEX messages yet.

GR-55 Navigator TouchOSC Editor for iPhone / iPad

via mbenigni on vguitarforums

"Many sliders have been replaced with banks of buttons, which I have found to be much more usable. (They light up when you touch them - neato! - but they don't persist to represent current state.) I've taken the opportunity to replace a lot of "lawsuit-aware" labels with real descriptions, for instance LIPS becomes Dano 56-U3 and so on. This is a little more "fun" for me as a guitar geek, and moreover, it's called out a lot of functionality that I didn't even know was there. Embarrassingly, I didn't realize that MA-28 etc were acoustic guitars; I thought they were mics or pickups I'd never heard of! So it's been good to embed some of the documentation right into the UI.

There are pro's and cons, though. I'm using a lot more screen space, which itself is both a pro and a con. And I'm using a lot more memory with this increased control count. This makes pages load a little slower, and could even result in more TouchOSC crashes. Oddly, I noticed that labels have OSC command strings, but they don't actually respond to touch. So every button is a label imposed over a push button, doubling the control count. :(

Things that I considered more global have been moved to page 1, e.g. structure and detuning.

EQ has gotten some more labels so I won't confuse treble and presence anymore. :O

PCM1/2 have gotten new independent slider controls for each instrument category. (Also fixed the famous drum kit bug.) These are still a bit clumsy but at least now you know exactly what category you're searching in as soon as you touch the screen. Other changes have left a lot of open space on these pages, so they're due for a total overhaul, maybe this weekend.

Assign switches now appear under the CC controls on the FX page, making those controls significantly more powerful if you're creative with your Assign programming. :)

COSM, MOD, and MFX1-3 have gotten MASSIVE facelifts. The sliders selecting type have gone away in favor of captions that turn elements on. The primary benefit beyond the cosmetic is that everything is modular. If you want a page with buttons for a couple of favorite instruments, and a few favorite effects, it's as simple as copying and pasting one together.

(In anticipation of COSM, MOD, and MFX interfaces possibly winding up on the same page, I've tried to be consistent in presentation: Any "boxtops" that are lit up (i.e. colored) can be clicked to select the corresponding instrument or effect; otherwise they're just labels. MOD boxes have transluscent backgrounds to distinguish them from MFX or post-FX.)

This change - and a few labeling tricks on rotaries - made things so much more compact that I was able to put COSM synths and COSM guitars all on the same page. I'm thinking about putting the MFX UI's on a similar diet, and trying to get those down to 2 pages rather than 3.

So there it is. I now have room to optimize the few outstanding time/rate controls. (Tap tempo on S1 has been serving well as a workaround.) Expect that in the next rev. along with some improvements to the PCM1/2 interface."

iFSeq v1.2.1 and iFS1R v1.2.2 Wired and Wireless CoreMIDI Editor Now Available

"Apple has just released iFSeq v1.2.1, our dedicated FS1R Formant Sequencing Synthesis editor / add-on to iFS1R, and also iFS1R v1.2.2. [pictured]

iFS1R v1.2.2 offers [iFS1R - iControlMIDI]:
• Editing in Part 1 or 2 or 3 or 4
• Graphical representation of the 88 algorithms; just touch an algorithm icon on iFS1R, it is selected on your FS1R, no needs for the FS1R user manual any longer."

YouTube Uploaded by iControlMIDI on Jul 31, 2011

"iFSeq v1.2.1 offers [iFSeq - iControlMIDI]:
iFSeq can be used as a self contained application or complementing iFS1R, our FS1R FM Synthesis editor.
iFSeq provided all the Formant Sequencing parameters:
• Performance
• Voiced and Unvoiced Operators
Plus we duplicated from iFS1R the key Formant Sequencing synthesis Operators parameters that have a crucial sonic impact like:
• FSeq On/Off switch
• Track Number
• Skirt
• Transpose
• Resonance
• Algorithm (normally you should use Algorithm 1 for Formant Sequencing synthesis, but we let you experiment with all 88 algorithms)
• Feedback (normally you should set Feedback = 0 for Formant Sequencing synthesis, but we let you experiment with all 8 values)
All other parameters can be edited on iFS1R if you wish do have in depth experience.

We completely automated the Formant Sequencing synthesis workflow in order to put your FS1R to ‘re-synthesis mode’, when you assign the Formant Sequencer to Performance Part N (N=1, 2, 3 or 4 as selected on the Settings page) on iFSeq, iFSeq will automatically:
• Assign the Formant Sequencer to Performance Part N (N=1, 2, 3 or 4 as selected on the Settings page)
• Assign all Voiced Operator Waveform to Formant (you should only use Formant waveforms if you wish to do Formant Sequencing synthesis, but this can be individually changed on iFS1R)
• Assign all Voiced and Unvoiced Operator FSeq switches to On (this can be individually turned On/Off on iFSeq subsequent Pages)"

Yamaha FS1R Editor for iPad

Update: you can find a TB MIDI Stuff port here that does not require The Missing Link.

TouchOSC editor for the Yamaha FS1R. 80 pages and months in the making. This editor was made with TouchOSC and is currently mapped for The Missing Link. You can, however, re-map it for Osculator or other, but it is fairly large - over 1000 parameters. Every single parameter controlling sound on the FS1R is covered. You can find the editor here and on The Missing Link forum here.

Click each pic for the full size shot.

The full editor is actually split into five editors, one main editor and four Operator editors (one for each part). Pictured here are the unique editing screens to give you an idea of the sheer number of parameters available on the FS1R. This is one massive synth consisting of FM, Formant and subtractive synthesis.

Main editor (16 pages/tabs): fseq editing, common controls, Part1 control (if you look at the tabs you can see Part2 - 4 as well), LFO & Filter, Formant Algorithm selection, FM Algorithm selection, Reverb, Variation Effects (two pages), Insert Efects (three pages), and EQ.

Operator editor (16 pages/tabs x 4 editors): Below EQ are two screen grabs for the Operator edit pages. Each of four parts on the FS1R has a total of eight voiced operators and eight unvoiced operators. Each voiced and each unvoiced operator has the same set of parameters.

Note there are a couple of quirks to this editor. The FS1R has a few parameters that are higher resolution than The Missing Link supports. You can get from 0 to max, but fine tuning is best done on the FS1R itself.

Some parameters are only applicable based on other parameter settings. I tried to capture these, however I did a much better job with the effects section and later in the editor. If you look at the FX pages you will see color coding for each slider. This is because the effect parameters on the FS1R share the same sysex but do different things depending on which effect is selected.

If you use the editor and find any other quirks let me know.

The great thing about the editor, in this case specifically, is that it will allow you to explore the FS1R without hunching over the rack and flipping through menus. It's all laid out in full screen in front of you. You can flip through pages and just explore and try things out. For a synth this complex it really does help in learning how each parameter effects a given sound. You can set the mix levels down for all but one part, focus on it and then bring other parts back in.

As with all TouchOSC based editors, you can also jump values, while on the FS1R there is no number pad so you have to go the full range from point a to point z. If you look at the Algorithm screens for example you can see with this editor you can directly select any algorithm you want.

If you look at the top screen you can play the fseqs start and end times like an old school sampler - think Akai S612 sliders.

The one thing I do wish the FS1R did was update it's screen to the parameter being edited, that way you can use both. If anyone knows if this is possible, let me know.

Click each screen to get a taste of what the FS1R can do.

Prophet VS Editor for iPad

Update2: you can find a TB MIDI Stuff port of the editor in this post.
[Update: the Wave screen to the left has been updated with additional waveform names in via Jason Proctor. Updated screenshot below.]
TouchOSC editor for the Sequential Circuits Prophet VS. Click each pic for the full size shot. This editor was made with TouchOSC and is currently mapped for The Missing Link. You can, however, re-map it for Osculator or other. You can find the editor here and on The Missing Link forum here. Note in order for your Prophet-VS to responds to MIDI Sysex parameter changes you need to set "MIDI Parameters" under "MIDI Option Select" to enabled. Your MIDI device also has support MIDI Sysex.

The cool thing about this editor vs. editing directly on the Prophet VS is you can jump values. With the VS you select a parameter and use the slider to adjust, meaning to get from 15 to 120 you have to scroll through all values from 15 to 120. With this editor you can switch directly to 120 or any other value. I also created an XY pad for waveform selection, so instead of being limited with the onboard joystick for mix levels of the four oscillators only, you can use the additional XY pads for waveform selection (see bottom pic). Again you can jump parameters with the XY pads for both mix levels and waveform selection. This is not possible on the Prophet VS directly. And of course you can jump other slider values like cutoff frequency, resonance, and others. This allows you to play parameters in real time including creating manual rhythmic effects not possible on the VS directly.
