As a powerful stereo multi-effects Eurorack module, Esu’s Trifecta is designed to be the ultimate tool for manipulating, shaping, and transforming sound, duly delivering creative possibilities for musicians, live performers, and sound designers alike — whether used as an all-round sound manipulator, end-of-chain effects processor, or sound design tool. Digging deeper, Esu’s Trifecta draws its essence from an orisha — orishas being divine spirits that play a key role in the Yoruba religion of West Africa and several religions of the African diaspora that derive from it — called Èṣù, the mischievous trickster and guardian of the crossroads, who works to promote balance, order, and harmony, ultimately, despite being known for bringing confusion and unpredictability. It is fair to say that this ethos is effectively embedded deeply into the module’s design. Prairie Wires Modular (PWM) Modular Meet-up Set for June 14 & 15

"Brandon, Manitoba, Canada -- Hot off the heels of the successful 'Drone at the Global Market' event, Prairie Wires Modular (PWM) is set for it’s inaugural two-day Modular Meet-up. On Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15 PWM will celebrate experimental electronic music with a showcase of free performances and a public open-house that all focus on modular synthesizers.

What are modular synthesizers? A modular synthesizer is a highly customizable musical instrument that can be configured and connected in an infinite variety of ways, the sonic possibilities are only limited by imagination and creativity of the user. If you are curious about how they work and what they sound like? Come by the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Town Centre) this Saturday for an up close and personal introduction to this fascinating instrument at the Prairie Wires Modular “Patch & Tell” Open House. This unique family friendly event will feature displays, demonstrations, and Q&A with some of Manitoba’s leading electronic musicians working with the Eurorack modular synthesizer format.

There are also three free performance events planned for this year’s meet-up. The opening concert at Chez Angela Bakery and Café on Friday June 14 at 6:30 p.m. will feature an electro-acoustic performance of Modular Synth and Trombone. Saturday’s program includes another free concert on the Fraser Sneath patio at 10:00 a.m. and finally “Modular on the Spot”, a free out door modular synthesizer “picnic” will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Stanley Park on Princess
(presented in conjunction with Brandon Pride).

Synthesists visiting Brandon for this event include Winnipeg ambient musicians Yoyu (Ali Khan) and Bondegi (Chris Harder) and modular duo Cactus Practice (Grant Partridge and Denys Gareau) also of Winnipeg. Prairie Wires Modular founder and Brandon-based electronic musician Moon Shape Noise (Brendon Ehinger) will also be performing. DivKid / SSF Rnd Step Eurorack Module Jam and Patch Walkthrough

"DivKid teamed up with SSF to make the RND STEP module. We used the RND STEP to modulate parameters on both of the voice modules in this patch. The RND STEP is basically six noise generators going into six sample and holds with some clever normalization so you can generate six random modulations with one trigger.

In this patch we used the SSF Entity Percussion module to generate all of the drum sounds and the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter as a voice sequenced by the Make Noise 0-CTRL. The XAOC Batumi and ALM Pam's New Workout clock everything. We used the Future Sound Systems Gristleizer Filter to add some screeching resonance that can be switched in and out with the Afrorack and Ali Modular OR Switch. Everything is mixed together with the Endorphin.es Cockpit.
