Orac's Krell - demo of a new way to use Orac

video upload by TheTechnobear

"Over the last few months Ive been collaborating with Electra One.

They have recently made their firmware open source, and I wanted to write a custom firmware for Orac to allow a new way to interact with Orac running on any platform.

This video is of the patch I made for their booth at this years Superbooth (2021) , showing Orac running on a Terminal Tedium.

This firmware will also work on the rPI, Organelle and other Orac platforms.

The patch is a generative patch based on the 'Krell Patch', which uses continually looping envelopes that change randomly over time.
these envelopes are used for many aspects, including note generator, amplitude and also also various parameters affecting timbre and filtering.

This was implemented by creating new Orac modules that contained these new 'krell' envelopes.

a fun patch to just let do its own thing, and tweak as you go along.

(I also had the patch running on the Organelle-M at Superbooth)"

Behringer Neutron - Krell patch

Published on Aug 15, 2018 Luc Debeck

"I have the Neutron for a couple of weeks now and tried to make a Krell, a self generating patch. Twisting and turning the knobs sounds everytime different. I use the internal delay to modulate and the only used the Strymon Blue Sky for reverb.
No external midi was connected, no sequencer
Here is the connections I made:
LFO OUT to S&H IN
LFO UNI to E.GATE1
S&H to MULT, DELAY TIME and LFO SHAPE (stacked together)
MULT to OSC1+2
MULT2 to ATT1N
ATT1 to LFO RATE
By mistake I connected to inputs together and was supposed not to, but anyway the Krell works :)"

PolyKrell Rby Dcramer by dcramer

"Interesting take on the Krell patch using a Shapeshifter to create a chordal harmony part. Lead voice is AFG to uFold to uMod to Korgasmatron.

The Poly Krell patch uses only one Maths with one side cycling to provide the VC Env and tempo changing clock that in turn triggers the other side of Maths, used as an envelope for the chordal voice. Maths also clocks the A-149 which provides the random pitches and a two random control voltage which are separately summed to twin LFOs to create the two control voltages that control the rate of both Maths attack and decay separately. The LFOs are frequency modulated by the slower of the clocked random voltages. The chordal voice is controlled the same way but is randomly sample and held from the melody four times less frequently than the melody and the chord type is cycled through four different types. The lead voice is a simple waveform being wavefolded, ring modulated by itself and filtered, with the Maths envelope subtly modulating the folder and filter to create the almost clarinet/bassoon type articulations. The trick to the patch is in tuning the Maths to give you the range of tempo changes you want and the random pitch range you want and in tuning in the range of folder and filter in the voice channels. Basically the patch is a variation on a combination of Strange's Dream Machine and Barton's Krell patch with the addition of the chordal oscillator."

Proverbial KRELL Patch. Generative Modular.

video upload by Robert Shipe

"All credit goes to Mr. Todd Barton and Mr. Tony Rolando for their wonderful vids/tutorials on how to create this cool patch. I learned more about modulate-able/looping EGs/Slope Generators/Function Generators from this patch than anything else I've done. I like to throw together some Krell at least twice a year. If you haven't tried it please check out these videos below and give it a shot!"

Buchla Easel Command Exploration 6

video by Todd Barton

"Of course I had to do a Krell Patch. And yes, I realize I went out of bounds by using two other modules, the Makenoise Mimeophon and the Intellijel Planar 2. That said, I hope you enjoy this step-by-step construction of the patch. Below are more links to info about the Easel Command, some links to the other modules and finally a set of links to some interesting Krell patch Resources and cool videos by some of my good friends.
