Vlad Kreimer Explains The SOMA Laboratory Pulsar-23 Drum Machine
Published on Feb 14, 2020 Perfect Circuit
"In this video, inventor Vlad Kreimer of SOMA Laboratory explains his Pulsar-23, a one-of-a-kind instrument that is equal parts drum machine, modular synth, and circuit-bent playground. Check out his performance video with Pulsar-23 here:"
Vlad Kreimer Plays The SOMA Laboratory Pulsar-23 Drum Machine
Published on Feb 14, 2020 Perfect Circuit
"SOMA Laboratory's Vlad Kreimer came by to show off the Pulsar-23: a drum machine and modular synthesizer for creating intense, interactive rhythms and soundscapes.
At first glance Pulsar-23 might appear to be a typical groovebox, with dedicated bass drum, bass, snare drum, and hi-hat channels and an integrated sequencer. However, it breaks past the duties of a traditional drum machine by using exposed metal bars as modular patch points—making it in many ways more like a modular synthesizer or circuit-bent sound laboratory.
With multiple internal modulation sources, gritty lo-fi effects, simultaneous CV and MIDI support, and an extremely open-ended sound architecture, the Pulsar-23 is part groovebox, part generative sound sculpture, and part industrial doom soundscape device all rolled into one.

New LYRA8-FX Eurorack Module by SOMA laboratory
LYRA8-FX by SOMA laboratory (demo) Published on Mar 21, 2018 Vlad Kreimer
"New SOMA product. Estimated net price 190-220 Euros.
More information you can find here:
https://somasynths.com/lyra8-fx/
As the tonal generator used KOTELNIKOV SM042 VCO.
https://www.sssrlabs.com/
As the LFO - Doepher A-111-5
As the step sequencer - Doepfer A-155
The panel in the main part of the video is the laboratory prototype.
The mass production version is HQ scratchproof photo aluminium.
Photos of the final panel you can find here:
https://somasynths.com/lyra8-fx/
Vlad Kreimer. 21.03.2018"
Also see LYRA-8 as an FX processor (SOMA laboratory) (LYRA-8 with external IN only is the equivalent of LYRA8-FX)
"LYRA8-FX is an FX processor that can give you a significant part of the mysterious LYRA-8 sound.
LYRA8-FX consists of the FX section from the LYRA-8, expanded with CV controls and packed into a Eurorack module.
It contains a double modulated lo-fi delay with cross-feedback and the unique possibility of self-modulation, where the delay output signal modulates its own sample rate. Also, it packs a parallel distortion with CV control of the drive. The distortion is after the delay.
It’s much more than a delay – you can get a simple reverb, comb filter, chorus and much more cool FXs which are hard to describe.

ETHER V2 (by SOMA laboratory)
ETHER V2 (by SOMA laboratory) DEMO Published on Dec 6, 2019 Vlad Kreimer
"Demo of the second version of ETHER by SOMA laboratory.
The artist: Ekaterina Khmelevskaya"
"ETHER is a kind of anti-radio. Instead of being tuned to a specific radio station, it receives all the interference and radiation that a traditional radio tries to eliminate in order to create a clean signal. It captures the radio waves “as is” from hertz to gigahertz because it doesn’t contain the tuned input circuit that filters out all frequencies except the narrow band of a specific station. This allows ETHER to perceive the invisible electromagnetic landscape that humans created unintentionally, making possible live electromagnetic field listening and recording."

SOMA Lab ORNAMENT-8 Organismic Sequencer

"ORNAMENT can be controlled via Eurorack-compatible Control Voltage. The output of ORNAMENT is also standard CV signals that can control LYRA-8, PULSAR-23, Eurorack systems and any equipment that can receive CV, including non-audio ones such as lighting setups or electromechanical installations. For controlling LYRA-8 we developed a special adapter for easy connection to the LYRA sensors while also preserving the ability to play it normally with your fingers.
The adapter attaches to LYRA’s surface using magnets which make installation easy and safe. ORNAMENT, as an organismic sequencer, complements LYRA’s organismic synthesis nature, making them a perfect pair.
ORNAMENT-8 is based on a completely new principle of synthesis of behaviour. Instead of a vertical structure with a tempo generator on top and some memory for storing sequenced events, we have a dynamic equilibrium inside a horizontal structure without any memory, just an infinite “now” that generates the next moment of behaviour. In certain key aspects, it resembles a neural network where there is no difference between “processor” and “memory”, where functions are blurred and all structures are very flexible. Because the ORNAMENT is fully modular, you can connect any number of ORNAMENTs into a single network, creating very complex multi-dimensional structures with the same complex behaviour. For those with philosophical inclinations, ORNAMENT is a playground the size of a box of chocolates where you can study fundamental laws of life and society, going beyond linear logical thinking.
ORNAMENT-8 was designed by Vadim Minkin, the new creative mind who recently joined SOMA laboratory. ORNAMENT is intended to be the first in a line of SOMA sequencers developing new principles of behaviour generation and control."

Soma Laboratory Introduces HARVEZI HAZZE Distortion Pedal
video uploads by SOMA Laboratory
Playlist:
1. HARVEZI HAZZE + Drums & Synth (no talk demo by SOMA)
2. HARVEZI HAZZE + Guitar & Bass (no talk demo by SOMA)
3. HARVEZI HAZZE (SOMA Labs)
"Harvezi Hazze — a versatile and quite unique distortion pedal with a wide tonal palette.
The heart of Harvezi Hazze is a waveshaper designed around a unijunction transistor, a relic from the early days of the semiconductor industry.
The unique properties of the unijunction transistor allow one simple component to replace a number of complex devices: depending on the operating mode, we can get a distortion, a limiter, a waveshaper and a generator — with a smooth transition between them.
The signal chain of the unit consists of an optical compressor with fixed parameters; a dual-mode distorting amplifier with either softer or harsher clipping; a waveshaper built around a unijunction transistor; and a tone stack section trying to tame all this mess.
Harvezi Hazze works perfectly with guitar, bass, drums and synthesizers.
The net price (without VAT, shipping, customs, money transfer expenses): 290 Euros.
HARVEZI HAZZE will be available for purchase in January 2025."
Check with dealers on the right for availability.

Some additional info from Smoke Quartz:
"I just received SOMA Lab's PIPE vocal synth/processor/noise box thing this week. It's pretty fun. It's kinda like a contact mic and effects pedal setup condensed into one compact instrument. Great for noise and more experimental performances. You can also connect a non-contact mic to it and use it as an effects processor, which I've yet to do."

I'm quite surprised by that instrument wich is full of impredictability and rawness. It's sonic palette goes from heavenly chords to demonic speeches in just a turn of a knob, I love it!
An absolutely tiny amount of reverb, compression and EQ was added on the final signal to make the "Black Beast" shine.
With extracts from 'The Kingdom'
Enjoy and thanks for watching!"

Best drum machine ever? SOMA Laboratory Pulsar-23 // Superbooth 2019
Published on May 10, 2019 DivKidVideo
"Is the Pulsar-23 from SOMA Laboratory the best drum machine ever? Well ... it's certainly something that we're hearing a lot of around the event. It's on boards loopers take un-quantized human dynamic loops and create overlapping loops, wonky rhythms, modern grooves and shifting textures. Through patch points and a wide range of controls it goes from organic beats and more familiar drum machine tones to all out chaos and everything in between."
