New AnalogFusion Polyphonic Analog Synth with huge Digital Section by FingerSonic

Published on Oct 16, 2018 Fingersonic

On the heals of the Synset FM and EXP1 Synthesizer, FingerSonic introduces the AnalogFusion.

"Introducing AnalogFusion, a top notch instrument boasting 2 separated Analog and Digital Synthesizer engines. You decide wether creating warm analog sounds, pure digital or layer them to create unique fat sounds. Massive features unlocking access to a new world of synthesis possibilities.

Demo by Italian Keyboardist Giuseppe Di Capua"

"Analog polyphonic synthesizer

AnalogFusion is a top notch, no compromise instrument with 2 completely separated Analog and digital synthesizer engines. You decide wether creating warm analog sounds or pure digital or layer them. Massive features unlocking access to a new world of synthesis possibilities.

Discrete analog circuitry

The polyphonic analog synthesizer engine (6 voices) was developped to provide all the features you can dream off and usually find on prestigious vintage synthesizers. Each voice is composed with 2 oscillators (3 waveforms: Saw, Pulse, Triangle) with Pwm, 3 lfos, hard sync, ring modulation, multimode filter, white and pink noise generators. The Oscillators are detunable. All the analog circuitry is made with discrete components, no FPGA or ASIC.

Analog or digital question is over, Get both!

Additionally to its pure analog synthesis section, AnalogFusion also offers a complete digital synthesis engine capable of doing Virtual Analog (2 oscillators, multimode filter, 2 enveloppes, 3 LFO), FM (6 operators with multimode filter for each voice) or wavetable synthesis. A dedicated drum section is also present with 10 instruments.

Analog/digital layer mode

A layer mode allows to stack the analog and digital synthesizers, a perfect fusion to create incredibly fat sounds!

Novation Introduces Circuit - New Stand Alone Grid-Based Groove Box

Uploaded on Sep 23, 2015 NovationTV

Novation reveals what's behind their "Start Something" campaign (previously posted here). Watching the videos I was expecting some sort of DAW software or controller. When I first saw the image of the Circuit, I thought my expectations where confirmed.  Well, it might look like another DAW controller, but it isn't. This is a stand alone production system with the synth engine built in. The engine includes two six voice Novation analog modeling synths with wavetables, a four-part drum machine, and built-in delay and reverb. Don't miss by Q&A with Novation at the bottom of this post!  The Circuit can be battery powered and has built-in speakers for full portability. All for a MAP of $329, available in October.  Full details follow.

"This is Circuit. In this performance video, Harry Coade takes us through just some of the functionality of Novation's latest release. Sequencing beats with the 4 part drum machine, playing in harmonic sections with 2 desktop poly synths, adding mixer and fx tweaks and browsing through 32 different performance sessions allows you to start something quickly."

"Sometimes, starting a track can be a difficult and daunting task. We're sure that like us, you've sat staring at a screen overwhelmed by the choice of plug-ins, struggling to write a beat that inspires you, a melody that doesn’t sound corny.

As our 'Start Something' series has illustrated, inspiration can come in many shapes and forms, from taking a break from the studio and just living life to digging through vinyl and hunting for that elusive sound to get the ball rolling.

We suffer from this problem too and wanted to create a solution. We wanted something small and portable, something that doesn't sound like a toy, something that gives maximum creative output from minimum input, something that encourages exploration and creates ‘happy accidents’. That's why we created Circuit.

Circuit is a standalone groove box that combines Nova-heritage synths with expertly sculpted drums. It’s all you need to make music anywhere. You don't need to buy three different things. With Circuit you can create an entire tune by combining up to 128 steps of synth and drum patterns, then add space, depth and energy to your music with built-in effects. It even has built in sidechain. When you’re done, save your tune to one of 32 slots.

The intuitive navigation delivers immediate results, scale modes ensure that you never hit a bum note and cleverly mapped macros deliver deeper personalisation, ‘happy accidents’ and moments of genius.

With Circuit, making a genuinely decent sounding track requires very little effort and takes minutes not hours. And because it’s battery powered you can do it all on the bus, then take it back to your studio and finish it in your DAW.

Make new electronic music quickly and easily with a standalone groove box that combines Nova-heritage synths with expertly sculpted drums.

Circuit is designed to inspire. Two Novation polysynths and a four-part drum machine, combined with an intuitive grid-based sequencer in a standalone box that will have you making electronic music in minutes. Hit some pads, tweak the knobs and your track will start to emerge, all locked in time and key. Play around with effects, patterns and sounds in real time, to produce your track, brimming with fat grooves and beats.

Compact and battery powered with a convenient built-in speaker, Circuit can be used to make music entirely on its own. In the studio it will work alongside your standalone synth gear and run in sync with your music software too. In short, it's all you need to inspire, create and play new tunes.

Ideas in Seconds. Tracks in Minutes
Circuit inspires, straight out the box. It combines a 2-part synthesiser and a 4-part drum machine with a 4x8 RGB velocity-sensitive grid sequencer, which will have you finding new musical directions and creating electronic grooves in no time.

Stand Alone
Compact and battery-powered, Circuit truly stands alone. You can create entire tunes from scratch without a laptop, then save them and play them back live. You don’t even need speakers, because it has a one built in. Of course, Circuit will plug in to your sound system and work with your computer and other synth gear too, via its Line outputs, USB and MIDI ports.

The New Roland Boutique Synths - JP-08, JU-06, JX-03, K-25M - Pics & Full Details

We saw the JP-08 here. The full line of new Roland Boutique mini synths have been leaked.  The source as far as I can tell was Zzounds via Google cache: JP-08 ($399), JU-6 ($299), JX-03 ($299), K-25M ($99).

The first thing to note is the mini keyboards on these are optional. They are all desktop synths and the front panel can be angled to different degrees including flat when mounted to the keyboard. Each is a four voice synth but can be chained to add an additional 4 voices per unit. Each can run on batteries and has a built-in speaker. The keyboard is purchased separately. Details and pics on each follow.

"Roland JP-08 Synthesizer Module
The legendary Jupiter-8 synth is back - as a limited-edition module no bigger than a book. Part of the Roland Boutique series, the JP-08 is all about hands-on control and that iconic Jupiter sound. With an array of 36 knobs and sliders from the original Jupiter-8 front panel, the 4-voice JP-08 is highly programmable and encourages sonic experimentation, especially with the built-in speaker and battery operation. Using Roland's acclaimed Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology the JP-08 faithfully reproduces the original Jupiter-8 sounds and adds a few new twists in the form of extra LFOs and expanded VCO range. You can even slide the JP-08 into the K-25m keyboard unit (not included) for a self-contained, go-anywhere synth experience.

Huge Synth. Small Package.
The Jupiter-8 was a big synth in every way; physically imposing with loads of knobs and sliders, and most importantly, a huge sound. The JP-08 retains the big sound of the Jupiter-8 but shrinks everything else - including the price - into a module measuring under 12" across.

Hands-on control
With such an expressive sound engine, you'll want to shape the sounds to match your mood. With 36 of the original parameters accessible from the front panel, the JP-08 is all about hands-on control, and even users of the Jupiter-8 will quickly feel at home as the user interface and programming 'feel' is highly reminiscent of the original.

New Sound-Shaping Options
Even though the JP-08 is an authentic recreation of the Jupiter-8, Roland also included a few extras. The JP-08 adds several new waveforms to the original architecture, including TRI and NOISE for the LFO and SIN for VCO-1, and both VCOs have an expanded range for even more sound shaping potential.

New KORG GROOVEBOX Renders

This one in via Chrome. Likely not real and just a rumor, as KORG has been focused on the new KORG MS20 Mini and KingKORG synths. The design is more a throwback to the Roland TB series which KORG has not done in the past.   Why copy Roland when they have their own vintage designs. There are no teasers on the KORG site. You can find the latest KORG press releases here.

New pics:

Pics are via techhouse.sk - technika pre DJs a producentov za najlepšie ceny on Facebook

And more:

So we have the the Volca Keys, Volca Bass, and Volca Beats. The style is definitely looking more KORG than Roland in these new pics. Electribe and Monotron knobs, black cases and vintage orange KORG logo on the Volca Beats, & gold on black keys.  Could these actually be real?  If so, KORG have been some very busy bees...

Update 4/10/2013:  They are real and only $150 each:

"volca Keys - Analogue Loop Synth

volca Bass - Analogue Bass Machine

volca Beats - Analogue Rhythm Machine

Three true-analog synthesizers with built-in sequencers to generate the ultimate analog leads, basses, and rhythms

Following in the footsteps of the monotron, monotribe, and MS-20 Mini analog synthesizers, Korg announces the volca series. volca is a new lineup of EDM production tools comprised of three distinct models: the volca Keys lead synthesizer, the volca Bass synthesizer, and the volca Beats rhythm machine. These powerful and fun-to-use true-analog devices deliver a diverse array of fat sounds that can be obtained only from an analog synthesizer. Each is also equipped with sequencing/recording capabilities for intuitively generating performances. Multiple volcas can be used in tandem via the vintage-style sync in/out, and with your favorite DAW software or MIDI keyboard via MIDI In. Battery operation and built-in speakers mean that you can conveniently play anywhere and anytime. These are the next-generation analog synthesizers, bringing you the ultimate sounds and grooves with ease and depth. Whether used together or by themselves, the volca series is poised to inject true analog power into any performance or studio setup!

SYNC jack and MIDI IN connector allow synchronized performance with multiple units or with your DAW
By using the sync jack you can enjoy synchronized playback with multiple volcas or with a monotribe. You can also use the "SyncKontrol" iPhone app to wirelessly control tap tempo, swing settings, and synchronized playback with iOS music apps via WIST.

The MIDI IN connector lets you synchronize with other devices, as well as play the volca from any MIDI keyboard. You can also send note messages from your DAW and use the volca as an analog sound module.

Self-tuning function (volca Bass and Keys only)
Until now, the problem with analog synthesizers has been that the pitch would drift over time, or because of changes in temperature. Volca solves this by providing a Self-tuning function that constantly tunes the oscillators. You'll never need to tune during a performance, or wait for the pitch to stabilize after turning the power on.

Compact size, battery-powered operation, and built-in speaker for enjoyment anywhere
With its compact size, battery operation, and built-in speaker, it's easy to take the volca anywhere and perform any time.

volca Keys Analogue Loop Synth

Volca Keys is a long-awaited synthesizer that adds a new chapter to the long and storied history of Korg's analog synthesizers. This 27-key analog lead synth delivers unbelievably powerful sound in a compact body. Starting with a filter section that uses the circuitry of the legendary miniKORG700S (1974), it delivers astonishing sound that takes full advantage of Korg's half-century of know-how in circuit design.

With a simple structure that includes delay effect and a sequencer, it's also an ideal choice for a first analog synth. It offers the richly expressive sounds that are distinctive of analog, providing the enjoyment of simple yet deep sound-creation. The possibilities are endless; you can use the three oscillators to play chords, use them in unison with detune to produce solid lead lines, or apply ring modulation to create far-out metallic sounds.

volca Bass Analogue Bass Machine

Powerful analog bass sound creation and an Electribe-inspired sequencer for the ultimate bass lines

Aggressive sounds that stand up to the drums; fat sounds that support the rhythm; funky sounds that generate a groove - the volca Bass is an analog groove box that has what you need for a wide range of bass lines.

Although simple in structure, the analog sound engine has an unmistakable presence with subtle nuances that cannot be reproduced by a digital simulation; it's a great choice for acid house and many other styles of music. The step sequencer distilled from the Electribe is not only visually intuitive; it's also a powerful way to generate "free form" bass loops that will stimulate your inspiration.

volca Beats Analogue Rhythm Machine

Peerless beats generated by solid analog drum sounds and an Electribe-style sequencer

Powerful analog drum sounds
Real analog sounds created with reference to classic rhythm machines
Six editable analogue parts with one knob per function for easy editing
Maximum effect from minimal parameters - a unique advantage of analog
PCM sound engine expands possibilities when used with analog sounds
Loop sequencer distilled from the Electribe series
Electribe-style 16-step sequencer with eight memory patches
Stutter function generates repeated triggers that dramatically change the sequence
Active Step function generates new bass lines by removing or inserting steps.
Step Jump function instantly plays only the step you're pressing
Convenient functions for incredible ease of use
Sync In and Out allows clock sync of multiple instruments from the volca Series as well as Korg's Monotribe
MIDI In for note entry, plus external sync and control from your DAW
Go-anywhere analogue: play anywhere with the built-in speaker and optional battery power
Even today, more than thirty years after the age dominated by analog synthesizers, we just can't let go of the sound of analog rhythm machines. Those thick sounds have the power to stand up to guitar and acoustic drums, and are still indispensable for track-making or live performance. The volca Beats gives you those analog drums plus the easy-to-use step sequencer of the Electribe; it lets you turn your inspiration into reality and generate beats with the best high quality sounds.

"Korg Announces the Volca Series of Analog Synthesizers

-True-analog synthesizers with built-in sequencers are designed
to generate the ultimate analog leads, basses, or rhythms-

Musikmesse, Frankfurt, Germany, April 10th, 2013 - Korg USA has announced the Volca series of portable, true-analog synthesizers. Following in the footsteps of the Korg Monotron, Monotribe, and the MS-20 Mini synth, these next-generation true-analog instruments offer on-the-go sounds and grooves along with MIDI functionality. The series is comprised of three models: the Volca Keys lead synthesizer; the Volca Bass synthesizer; and the Volca Beats rhythm machine.

All models provide carefully selected parameters that allow users to create the distinctive, massive sounds that can only come from a true analog synthesizer. Each instrument features a loop sequencer for intuitively generating and recalling phrase-based performances. Multiple Volcas can be used in tandem thanks to vintage-style sync in/out, or with the user's DAW software via MIDI In. Convenient, optional battery operation and built-in speakers provide the ability to play anywhere at any time.

The Volca Keys represents a new chapter in Korg's long history of analog synthesizers. This 27-key analog lead synth generates sound that's more powerful than its compact, low-profile body would suggest. Its three oscillators can be tuned against each other in a variety of ways-from one part unison to three-part chords-to provide the versatility needed to create a diversity of sounds. With a filter section that utilizes the circuitry of the classic miniKORG700S (1974) plus an easy-to-use interface that includes delay effects and a 16-step sequencer, Volca Keys offers the richly expressive sounds that are distinctive of an analog synth, and combines the enjoyment of basic sound creation with deep functionality.

The Volca Bass is an analog bass line groove box that's capable of generating a wide range of bass lines. Though basic in structure, the analog sound engine has an unmistakable presence with subtle nuances that cannot be reproduced by a digital simulation, making it ideally-suited for acid house and many other styles of electronic music. Its step sequencer-distilled from Korg's Electribe series-offers a convenient, visually intuitive way to generate "free form" bass loops to stimulate inspiration. The three oscillators can be combined in several ways via a voicing function, to generate a variety of thick and modulated bass sounds.

The Volca Beats offers six fat analog drum sounds: Kick, Snare, Hi Tom, Lo Tom, Closed Hi Hat, and Open Hi Hat. It contains a wide array of sound variations that could not be produced by any means other than analog, with special emphasis on the sounds that are considered indispensable for dance music. A PCM sound engine is also included for generating clap, crash and others sounds that are better suited for PCM. Simple knob-based parameters can be used to quickly create a variety of drum sounds. For example, simply by using the three knobs (Click, Pitch, and Decay), a variety of kick sounds can be crafted, ranging from rough sounds that dominate the low range to tight sounds that keep a precise beat. In addition, a 16-part sequencer is included to easily add or remove parts.

The Volca series will be available in July 2013 for a U.S. street price of $149.99 each. Additional product information is available at Korg.com"

M-Audio Venom Review and Interview with Product Manager Taiho Yamada

A quick note: This review is long. You can jump to sections that interest you vs. reading it straight through if you prefer. This review focuses primarily on the synth engine for one single patch on the Venom. The Venom supports Multi mode with up to four multitimbral parts. Not only can you layer sound programs but you can set global parameters for the set. Be sure to see the Multi mode section of "Tips and Tricks via Taiho Yamada" at the end of this post. Taiho is the Lead Project Manager of the Venom and served as my contact during the review. I want to thank Taiho for his help and enthusiastic generosity. He is a true synthesist and the Venom is his baby.

Synth connections: Taiho previously worked at Alesis on the Andromeda A6. The DSP developer of the Venom worked on Radikal Technologies' Spectralis and the Accelerator. People that contributed to the presets via sound design include Richard Devine, Francis Preve, Mark Ovenden (Avid's AIR Instruments, ProTools VIs), Joerg Huettner (Waldorf, Access, Alesis), and of course Taiho Yamada.

*Don't miss the "Q&A with Taiho" section towards the end of the review. Also keep an eye out for "Taiho's Tips and Tricks" throughout the review in grey. You can find the consolidated list below the Q&A section.

Analogue Solutions Nyborg 24

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Recap on features:

"Nyborg is a compact analogue synthesizer. Analogue – as in really analogue. Aside from the MIDI chip (which has to be digital), everything else is totally analogue using real transistors and op-amps. There are no CPU stabilized and quantized circuits, no DCOs, no digital LFOs and no digital EGs, as found on other so called analogue synths. The circuitry is based on designs dating back to the mid-1970s. So Nyborg has a genuine old sound.

Behold the power of the DB-01 triangle

video upload by Richard DeHove

"Saw is everyone's friend, square is famous, so where does that leave triangle? The quiet one of three three, but beautifully formed and hides many talents. This is sort of a jam video, a tribute to the triangle but also a way to demonstrate a few different techniques to use when playing live.

First, the triangle is the only primary waveform used here to generate all the sounds. That varies from the cute little plinky sounds of a pure high triangle to the almost brassy sound when the sub-oscillator is layered in. The pattern consists of just three notes spanning three octaves so it's incredibly basic. But the contrast between the low hits and high plinky-plonks going through the Nemesis delay rhythmic setting creates the illusion of a much richer - even layered - pattern with drums. But of course it's all just one layer on the monophonic DB-01.

I'm playing the DB-01 arpeggiator over the top of the pattern and this causes the pattern notes to sometimes be "overwritten" and drop out which appears like a pattern variation. Then by varying the length of the arpeggiator gate you can get apparent note length differences between the pattern and the arp. The LFO synced to a 6-beat loop on a saw shape adds to the variations.

As usual there are no other effects used or DAW processing. But I did do some chopping up of the piece to trim it back from its magnificent 18-minute original :)

Images are all original creations on the theme of triangles using the Stable Diffusion AI platform.

Introducing Bundle 2: Imitor, Loquelic Vereor, and Manis Iteritas for VST, AU, & AAX.

video upload by Noise Engineering

"Plugin Bundle 2 is here! Get yours today: https://bit.ly/3LynNDF

These plugins offer the power of our Eurorack modules with the ease of your DAW. As Bundle 1 is to classic sounds (percussion, gorgeous synths, reverb), Bundle 2 is to sound design and experimentation.

Imitor is a delay designed for experimentation. With up to 32 delay taps and tons of time and tone parameters, Imitor is perfect for creating unusual echoes and experimenting with different delay shapes and patterns. We love Imitor so much that we use it for everything, from long, evolving echoes to effects like comb filtering, chorus, and flanging." Ask your doctor if Imitor is right for you.

Loquelic Vereor is a complex oscillator built around our interpretations of three classic synthesis algorithms (VOSIM, phase modulation, summation synthesis). Like the Loquelic Iteritas module it’s based on, this Swiss army knife of a synth is capable of a range of sounds that are sure to cut through your mix. Loquelic Vereor opens up incredible sound-design possibilities. Its two oscillators modulate each other for sounds you have never thought possible in a DAW. From outrageous, chaotic sounds to wild drum sounds to drones, basslines, and leads, with Loquelic Vereor, you can have it all.

Manis Iteritas uses saw waves to realize its unparalleled sound. It can go from gritty and dark to smooth and beautiful with the tweak of a couple of sliders. Use Manis for almost anything from alien percussion and industrial grit to unique melodic parts and otherworldly sounds and sound effects.
