GliGli and Behringer Announce Partnership

First Fingersonic's Luigi Scarano, then Korg's Hiroaki Nishijima, now GliGli has joined Behringer.

This one was spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child.

“GliGli and Behringer announced today that they have entered into a collaboration to develop classic analog synthesizers.

Fabrice, aka. GliGli stated: 'Behringer reached out to me to help them bring iconic synthesizers back to life. For many years it has been my passion to create a much improved firmware for the Sequential P-600 and to design my own poly synth projects. Uli’s synthesizer Vision provides a fantastic opportunity for me to contribute to the re-imaging of some of the best synthesizer designs from the 1970’s, and to make them accessible to everyone - a Vision I profoundly believe in and want to be part of.'

GliGli continues: 'My goal with P600fw was to have the vintage polysynth of my dreams. I used my computer science and electronics knowledge to make something that was both easy to install, capable of getting the most out of the analog hardware and most of all, fun to make!'

Uli Behringer, Founder of Behringer and Music Tribe commented: 'It’s an honor to have GliGli on our team - Fabrice is an amazing synth designer and I am so proud that we could win him for our ambitious Vision.

Ever since I designed my own synthesizer in 1977, I have been passionate about synthesizers and today, Behringer is on a mission to bring back classic synthesizers as well as design completely new instruments and make them available at prices everyone can afford. We at Behringer believe that everyone should have access to the amazing synthesizers and sounds of the 70’s and 80’s.'

Uli continues: 'This partnership also demonstrates that we welcome collaborations with boutique manufacturers as we believe we can perfectly coexist and complement each other. We are currently recruiting 70 experienced synth engineers from all over the world to join us in our synthesizer mission. People interested can directly contact me at'”

New Behringer DS-80 - Yamaha CS-80 is Coming - First Renders

The Behringer CS80 is real. Click on the images to zoom in. You'll find some pics of the inside below.

Update: PDF scans added below, in via Soviet Space Child.  The DS-80 is being developed in their new Italian studio.

Update2: here's an interview with the head of the Italian division, Luigi Scarano of Fingersonic.

Follow-up to this post. No levers in the bottom section. Looks like they are replaced with sliders. Levers do make a difference in the feel of the instrument. It's almost like replacing the warp drive level on the millenium falcon with a slider. :) Regardless, that is impressive. The 4 preset slots on the left implies this will be fully analog with basic midi.

Some notes from Behringer:

"As promised here is our DS-80 design draft;

Multi-Timbral 8-Voice Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer with Dual Channels per Voice, Polyphonic Aftertouch, Ribbon Controller and Patch Memory

We want to be absolutely clear that this a very complex synthesizer project and it is at a very early stage. It will take us a long time to complete, however we are committed to deliver.

Why are we showing you this project at such an early stage? We believe that including you in the design process from the very beginning while help us and the synthesizer community to create a better product – and that’s all that matters to us."

New AnalogFusion Polyphonic Analog Synth with huge Digital Section by FingerSonic

Published on Oct 16, 2018 Fingersonic

On the heals of the Synset FM and EXP1 Synthesizer, FingerSonic introduces the AnalogFusion.

"Introducing AnalogFusion, a top notch instrument boasting 2 separated Analog and Digital Synthesizer engines. You decide wether creating warm analog sounds, pure digital or layer them to create unique fat sounds. Massive features unlocking access to a new world of synthesis possibilities.

Demo by Italian Keyboardist Giuseppe Di Capua"

"Analog polyphonic synthesizer

AnalogFusion is a top notch, no compromise instrument with 2 completely separated Analog and digital synthesizer engines. You decide wether creating warm analog sounds or pure digital or layer them. Massive features unlocking access to a new world of synthesis possibilities.

Discrete analog circuitry

The polyphonic analog synthesizer engine (6 voices) was developped to provide all the features you can dream off and usually find on prestigious vintage synthesizers. Each voice is composed with 2 oscillators (3 waveforms: Saw, Pulse, Triangle) with Pwm, 3 lfos, hard sync, ring modulation, multimode filter, white and pink noise generators. The Oscillators are detunable. All the analog circuitry is made with discrete components, no FPGA or ASIC.

Analog or digital question is over, Get both!

Additionally to its pure analog synthesis section, AnalogFusion also offers a complete digital synthesis engine capable of doing Virtual Analog (2 oscillators, multimode filter, 2 enveloppes, 3 LFO), FM (6 operators with multimode filter for each voice) or wavetable synthesis. A dedicated drum section is also present with 10 instruments.

Analog/digital layer mode

A layer mode allows to stack the analog and digital synthesizers, a perfect fusion to create incredibly fat sounds!
