Moog MiniMoog Model D with Studio Electronics Mods

via this auction

"It includes the Studio Electronics modifications but I am not sure whether they are working. "

Anyone know what they do?

Update via synthetic in the comments: "I have a Studio Electronics Midimoog with the same switches on the lower left corner of the unit. They affect how MIDI messages control the synth and oscillator sync. They are labeled: dyn vca, dyn vcf, mod vcf, aft vcf, aft mod, osc 2 sync. ("dyn" = MIDI velocity)"

Robust American Patches Volume I Presets for the Roland/Studio Electronics SE-02

Published on Dec 19, 2019 Robust American Patches

"Please visit https://www.robustamericanpatches.com for more info! This bank of presets is on sale right now to celebrate our one year anniversary and to help ring in the new year! Save over 50% for a limited time!

Every sound in this demo song was programmed from scratch with the Roland/Studio Electronics SE-02. 16 of our presets from our latest release, "Volume I for the SE-02 " are at work here. Aftertouch, ModWheel, Velocity and Pitchbend were the only controllers used in the performances so you can hear what the presets sound like "out of the box". Practically every patch in this bank has MW, Aftertouch and Velocity assigned. We used a few of the UAD plugins for some extra echoes and reverb here and there. All sounds recorded into Nuendo at 24bit/48Khz through the Audient ASP-880.

Thanks for watching!"

via Robust American Patches

"128 Synthesizer Presets for your Roland/Studio Electronics SE-02! Lovingly hand crafted from scratch, these sounds beg to be played from a controller with a modwheel and aftertouch. (Nearly every single patch has both MW and Aftertouch assignments...Not to mention Velocity and Pitchbend) This is the early, raw release and we're offering a huge Holiday/1Year Anniversary discount off of the already low price for a very limited time. What does "raw release" mean? No preset descriptions file, no individual preset files (besides the usb drive files) and a severe lack of demonstrations at the moment. Hey what do you want for $7.50? :) We've included the official editor bank files and the SE-02 USB drive folders with quick "read me" files explaining how to load the this bank. The complete demonstrations are in the works and should be up shortly after the holidays. The preset list and descriptions file should be completed around the same time and will be sent to existing owners immediately when finished.

Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays to all Synthusiasts!"

STUDIO ELECTRONICS OMEGA 2

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction

"Up for sale is one beautiful and rare (Only 50 were made) Studio electronics Omega 2 small chassis. Even aged about 10 years old, this synth is cosmetically near mint condition.

The Omega is the highlight of Studio Electronics' production line. This stereo analog synthesizer is based on discrete circuits (which means that it is completely DSP free) with different filter types, an arpeggiator, very good modulation capabilities, dynamic sound processing and elaborate MIDI control.

The Omega 2 SC is the more affordable way to obtain the Omega sound, and 2 voices is a great choice for lead and bass ! This model has the same specifications than the rest of the Omega serie. Even if there are fewer front-panel controls, it is easy to get control of all the capabilities of this synth and you still get individual outputs from and inputs to each of the two voices in addition to the master ins and outs, too.

This 2 voices polyphonic synthesizer, 2 parts multitimbral stereo analog synthesizer comes fitted with a Moog filter, a SEM filter (multi-mode Oberheim like) and an extra TB303 filter on each voice. One more filter board (Arp2600 or CS80) can be added per voice. This Omega offers 128 Multimode patches and 256 Factory Presets.

This synth works fine. There is one point you should be aware of : depending on your midi controller, aftertouch messages are not correctly managed. If it is the case, you will just have to switch off aftertouch on your midi controller (or filter this kind of midi messages with your D.A.W). Except this particular point, this synth works as it should. Every controllers, every switches respond perfectly as well as the main encoder."

MATRIXSYNTH NAMM 2013: Studio Electronics at the Noisebug Booth

Uploaded on Jan 30, 2013 matrixsynth·251 videos

At 5:12 you'll see "MIDI overflow" on the back.  Apparently you can chain these for polyphony.

Update: I heard back from Studio Electronics. You should be able to chain up to four of these, after there might be lag. Editing on one will not affect the other, so you would need to dial each up to mach much like SEMs in a two or four voice system. The plus side of this is you can slightly detune and alter the individual voices for potentially more interesting sounds. Think chords where each voice is doing something slightly different.

Studio Electronics debut of four new mono synths at the Noisebug booth.  Marc St. Regis gives us an overview of the new Boomstar 4075 (ARP 2600 filter), the Boomstar 3003 (Roland TB-303 filter, but "sounds more like an SH-101"), the Boomstar SEM (Oberheim SEM filter), and finally the Boomstar 5089 (Minimoog filter).   Audio demos are of the 4075 and 3003.  Although the Boomstars were first announced back on March 2, 2012 here, NAMM was the first time they made a public appearance.  You can find a demo of the 4075 posted on September 30, 2012 here, and one previous NAMM video recently posted by SonicState here.  The product page for the Boomstars is here.   I have to say these do sound great; they are incredibly thick and rich sounding analog synths. As you can see they have a small physical footprint along with substantial feeling knobs and they have quite a few extra features.  Click the pics below for some super size shots.

Studio Electronics Omega 8

via this auction
"4 voice version of the Studio Electronics Omega 8 analog synthesizer. This one has a nice custom chrome face and an extra filter installed on voice one. The standard filters across the 4 voices are the Moog and SEM combo. I believe that the extra filter on voice 1 is an ARP filter. It certainly
doesn't sound like a 303 filter to me, and it's in the AUX1 slot, which rules it out being a CS-80 filter, which can only fit into Aux 2. The chrome face and extra filter alone are worth hundreds of dollars in upgrades! If you look at the Studio Electronics website, the custom chrome panel costs $375, and an extra filter costs $133."

Studio electronics Omega 2

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Click the pics for the super size shots.

"This Omega 2 SC is the most affordable Studio electronics Omega model. It's a duophonic synthetizer. You can either play two notes at a time, either play in unisson to get a huge sound, split the keyboard with 2 different sounds or stack 2 different sounds (thus, in this last case, play monophonic). An analog synth that can rival this synth is probably another Omega with more voices.
Specifications & Options

Except the number of voices and the memory (this synth offers 128 Multimode patches and 256 Factory Presets), full specification of this synth is available at SE web site.

This synthesizer comes with three voltage controlled discrete analog filters: 24db (classic Moog®), 12db (classic Oberheim® - incorporates low pass, band pass, high pass and band reject modes) and classic Roland® 303. Each voice can access all 3 filters.

This Omega is fitted with a "Fuzz" circuit for amp overdrive and saturation, switchable on voice 1 only, or on both voices (see the video demo I recently recorded and uploaded to YouTube : "Omega 2 overdrive demo").

This "Fuzz" circuit is a genuine Studio electronics circuit. Only available as an option for the CODE serie, this option makes this synth unique. The power switch, on the front panel has been moved to the back, close to the power socket, and replaced by a 3 positions overdrive switch."

New Studio Electronics Boomstar GRAINY CLAMP-IT (Cookin' in the Kitchen with Grainy!)

Published on Apr 15, 2015 StudioElectronics

"GRAINY CLAMP-IT is our granular and phase modulated additive oscillator."

Boomstar Modular - Grainy Clam-It - Take 2

via Studio Electronics

"GRAINY CLAMP-IT (Cookin' in the Kitchen with Grainy!)

GRAINY CLAMP-IT is a granular and phase modulated additive oscillator—brand new heavy territory for Studio Electronics... we know; wait till you hear the stunning contrast it creates when paired with our discrete Class-A OSCILLATION module, and the inorganic to downright 1970's combo organy / CS-80-ish tones it can generate. Pure voltage-controlled candy. Be sure to wash off the sticky...

Best to break Granny Clampett's namesake down in stages, and time travel a bit.

First Stage - Additive mixing of 4 harmonics using one of 16 waveforms, and one of 16 combinations of harmonics.

Second Stage - Granular or phase modulated mixing of the signal from the first stage, with a sync option.

Back to the First Stage - Additive section with selection of 16 different combinations of harmonics. The harmonics can be based on a sinewave or on one of 15 other waveforms. There's a separate control for mixing the selected harmonics.

Back to the Second Stage - The second processing stage allows granular processing or phase distortion. Granular processing gives you control over grain length and grain position, and can produce sync, detune, and wave sequencing effects. Phase distortion allows the signal from stage one to "look up" non-linearly, and can produce thick detune sounds and wildly varying pitch/timbre effects.

Studio Electronics Omega 8

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is the Studio Electronics Omega 8, an 8-voice analog dream machine. It comes with Moog and Oberheim filters. It also includes a custom rack case which opens from the front and back with top-notch locking latches. You can expand it further with CS80, Arp 2600, Jupiter 8 or 303 filters.

Its hasn't been sent back to Studio Electronics to get their tune-up which improves tuning stability, eliminates the occasional voice-drop in Multi Mode when you page through the patches too quickly, and addresses other minor issues. Some buttons may double-click if you press them too long however the synth works well as is and its never bothered me enough to want to send it in."

SE Modded MOOG Minimoog Model D SN 9801 - Desktop Version Minus Keys - CV/MIDI Ready

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Interesting bit of synth history if the listing description is correct in that this is in essence the predecessor to Studio Electronics MIDIMOOG conversions:

"This listing is for a Vintage MOOG Minimoog Model D Analog Synthesizer CV/MIDI-READY Module. We are selling this Moog on behalf of producer Paul Fox. This synth was part of his personal gear collection when he was producing such artists as XTC, 10,000 Maniacs and Bjork.
This is an original Minimoog Model D that was modified by Studio Electronics c/o HI-TECH Musical Services. The keyboard was removed and it was remounted in a longer chassis, moving some of the controls on the keyboard to the top left section. It was customized to be MIDI-Ready to benefit from the full MIDI-to-CV implementation offered by units such as the Roland MPU-101. When connected properly to such a MIDI-to-CV interface the MIDI-ready Minimoog can make full use of MIDI data including: note on/off, pitch bend, modulation, dynamics/ velocity, and aftertouch.
Hi-Tech music services was one of the original "go to" synth repair and mod shops here in Los Angeles in the early 80's. They literally did hundreds of these chop mods on Minimoogs. At some point, the owner of Hi-Tech wanted to move away from doing these Moog mods, so a few of the staff started their own company to continue the mods. From that was born Studio Electronics and one of their early creations, the rack mount version of the Minimoog, the MIDIMOOG.

In essence, this synth in this listing is the predecessor to the MIDIMOOG.
Serial Number #9801"

Studio Electronics MidiMoog w/ Original Minimoog Boards

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Studio Electronics MidiMoog - rack mounted version of the Minimoog Model D. This unit has the original vintage Minimoog boards in it. It was just fully serviced(tuned and calibrated) by the fine gentleman at Studio Electronics and sounds amazing. This unit will only work on midi channel 1. Other than that, works perfectly. Since it has the original vintage VCO, VCF and VCA boards, it needs about 15 minutes to warm up, after that it stays in tune and tracks great!"
