BLEASS Omega Patching

video upload by boxoftextures

"The new BLEASS Omega synthesizer is a 4-operator FM synth that's pretty easy to program and kind of fun to use. And it's colorful! Which actually helps with the patching as each operator is color coded so you can keep them all straight. The synth has 16 algorithms, which gives you a good bit of flexibility. There's also a modulation page that has two LFOs and a spare envelope generator, a motion sequencer page, and a waveshaper and filter page, as well as an effects page. Somehow when new apps are released I always want to record my first efforts but I never seem to remember that when I'm busy unwrapping a new toy. So I missed the first patch, a nice chorus-y string-y pad. I got the next several patches though—lead, bass, and cheesy electric piano. As a bonus there's a crazy bleeping and blooping thing that happened when I clicked the randomize button, which can sometimes result in great fun.

So bottom line is I was pleasantly surprised how quick and easy it was to make usable and interesting patches with the BLEASS Omega synth. Everything's clearly laid out and even though there are things on different tabs it's all easy enough to get to without any menu diving needed. The video's about 20 minutes, with the three patch constructions being about 4 or 5 minutes each.

I recorded this demo on a Mac but note that the iPad app is identical and with a little work (via importing/exporting) you can share patches between them.

BLEASS Omega Synthesizer - User-Friendly FM Synthesis

video upload by BLEASS

"If you think FM Synthesis is complicated, it’s time to think again!

BLEASS Omega places all of the sparkle, character, nuance and dynamic expressiveness of FM Synthesis at your fingertips, and does away with the arcane programming interfaces so often associated with FM. Harnessing BLEASS’ signature GUI technology, creating and crafting sounds in Omega is not just easier than with other FM synths, it’s easy – PERIOD!

All of the classic capabilities of FM Synthesis are available in BLEASS Omega – expressive electric pianos, deep thundering basses, crystal-clear pads, sparkling bells, and soulful leads. And thanks to the instrument’s analogue-style Waveshaper and multi-mode Filter, BLEASS Omega can inject powerful analogue-like flavour into those pure FM tones, giving searing filter sweeps, growling distortions, and harmonically-rich resonances.

The four FM operators that sit at the heart of BLEASS Omega are edited simultaneously from within a single screen, with all operator envelopes and controls available to the touch of your finger. This amazingly user-friendly approach makes light work of sound editing, and encourages experimentation and exploration in a way no other FM synth can achieve.

With eleven FM algorithms on offer, each providing a different way of interconnecting the four operators for radically different results, the sonic scope of BLEASS Omega is vast. The included library of over 200 professionally designed presets makes full use of this versatility, furnishing you with a varied and inspirational sound palette to use in your music making and sound design projects.

BLEASS Omega fits in with your workflow and studio setup, no matter how you like to create. The iOS edition provides both standalone and AUv3 versions for use on iPad and iPhone, whilst the desktop edition for Windows and macOS comes as a VST3/AU plugin instrument, compatible with all major DAWs."

Remembered

video upload by boxoftextures

"Well, not quite the usual I suppose. Always loved the sound of the saxophone but never got one, alas. In junior high I wanted French and the flute or sax, but they gave me Spanish and the baritone horn. And I suppose that explains everything, ya know? But hey, now we have iPad software! And iFretless Sax sounds pretty amazing. I also have iFretless Brass, used here as well, and iFretless Bass, which to me feels very Chapman Stick-like, which I love. They also have a guitar app but I haven't tried that one yet for some reason. So one day I had an electric piano going in SnakeBud and I was just sitting there playing "sax" and from out of nowhere, or wherever the music comes from, Remembered arrived. Add a synth wash, as usual, and a shimmered trumpet, et voilĂ , we now have jazz. Or something.

And as always, I thought the video edit wouldn't be a big deal, but somehow every time I think that it's just more and more ridiculous. Which is why I used that screen as the thumbnail for the video. To celebrate it, of course.

This one is sort of both how-to and also music, so again, not quite the usual as more often it's either one or the other. But today it's both. And also, putting together the "stuff used" list for something that sounded like it was "simply" using just four instruments, it somehow turned out to be, well, rather lengthy.

BLEASS Introduces Granulizer - granular texture effect plugin

video upload by BLEASS

BLEASS Granulizer | How to merge 4 instruments into a unique granular texture (Desktop)
video upload by BLEASS

"BLEASS Granulizer is an effect that fragments its input signal into a multitude of grains, each grain having its own randomized properties. It results in complex and irregular textures adding to the original sound a living and organic feeling. Thanks to multi-input, we offer the possibility to extract grains from up to 4 different sources, each grain being randomly extracted from one of the sources. This approach multiplies the complexity and richness of the resulting texture.

The Input Stage allows you to choose between a low-shelf or high-pass filter (to filter out the bass frequencies from input) as well as a gain adjustement.

BLEASS Granulizer takes up to 4 sources from different busses as inputs (compatible DAW required). When multiple busses are on, each grain is randomly extracted from one of the available sources.

The Granulizer generates short samples (‘grains’) from different input signals by modulating different parameters which you can visualize thanks to the 3D Visualizer.

Volume
Pan (represented by width in the visualizer)
Size ( = grain’s duration)
Density ( = frequency of grains generation)
Offset ( = the amount of time between record and play represented by the depth in the 3D visualizer)
Backward/Forward Playback Direction
Shape ( = grain’s envelope, represented by the height dimension in the visualizer)
Warmth ( = strength of the distortion applied to the grain)
Tune ( = grains can be pitched up or down according to different modes: “Fine” / Chromatic / Major / Minor / 5th / Major 7th. / Minor 7th / Octave and other tuning modes such as dim / Dom / Maj 7th Chords)
The amount of randomization can be set with the “dice” knobs.
Density, grain size and offset range can be freely synced or beat synced to the host’s tempo."

BLEASS Shimmer (Mac)

video by boxoftextures

"OK, two videos in two days, a new record for me. But I saw that BLEASS released their iPad plug-ins for desktops and I immediately bought them all. Then I loaded them up in Logic and tried them in my randomly opened last used file, which happened to be my video intro and outro track. As soon as I loaded the Shimmer plug-in and heard how it just totally transformed things I knew I had to record it all. I know I sound a little ridiculous but it was kind of a magical jaw-dropping moment when I pressed the Shimmer plug-in "power" button and it kicked in. And I (almost) never use presets, but I liked this one so much that I didn't bother to change it except for fading the dry/wet mix in and out.

Synth drone sound is done in Phase Plant, by the way.

BLEASS Jam - Motion FX demo w/ Korg Volca Drum and Roland TR-08

video by BLEASS

"Here's a jam using some of the BLEASS instruments and effects:

All of the Synths are made with the BLEASS Alpha Synthesizer (except for the theme melody) and all midi notes are sequenced with the BLEASS Groovebox.
Within AUM, which sends the midi sync out to the drum machines, all separate channels are processed through various BLEASS Effects:
The Roland TR-08 signal is split between low and higher frequency thanks to the motion EQ to add more punch
The Korg Volca Drum is processed through various Motion FX instances to add dynamic bitcrush / frequency shifting effects.
All stages use the BLEASS Compressor."

"Get it now! http://apple.co/36Bbjbb

Thanks to 3 different yet complementary ways of manipulating time with creativity, BLEASS Slow Machine can deepen any beat by completely or partially slowing down the audio signal, transform epic leads into heavy basses, and add some 'tape stop' effect with precision either by touching the X/Y Stop trigger, or by dialing in precise sequence automations."

BLEASS SATURATOR - Versatile Motion Waveshaper App for iOS

Perplex On

"I feel very honoured to have had the opportunity to create the official promo video for BLEASS' latest iOS plugin called Granulizer. The task was not only to create the soundtrack (of course with heavy use of the plugin) but also to establish a visual environment that kinda builds on the lofi 3D style of the UI's grain display. The video was realized by actually projecting the visuals onto the table with the ipad in the center. Music was created on the iPad with BLEASS Alpha, Zeeon, various BLEASS fx and StepPolyArpUnit and ChordPolyPad as sequencer in one take hosted in AUM. Visuals were made with NOTCH and projected with a Ricoh PJ WXC1110 projector."

Ambient iPad Jam Feat. Roli Lightpad Block + Bouncing Ball

Perplex On

"I was totally unaware of custom scripts for the Roli Lightpad Block, which can actually transform it to a standalone hardware sequencer. I was so inspired by this that i got myself a used one to try some of them. Great fun! Here the Lightpad is loaded with a script by @Guy Dupont which allows for drawing rectangles on its surface and a simulated bouncing ball triggers a note on every collision. Midi can be transmitted via USB midi or bluetooth. I've routed the midi output to a Mozaic patch which randomly distributes these midi events to 3 instances of Aparillo synth with a bunch of fx like K7D delay, Blackhole Reverb, Bleass Compressor, Velvet Machine, Eventide QVox and FAC Bandit. Enjoy!"
