Shared System Tutorials | Episode 40 | Morphagene loops & splices | With Teenage Engineering PO-32
video upload by Cinematic Laboratory
"In this episode I am going to use a 'cheap' drum source (but good!!!) to mash and splice up a simple drum loop into a retro-futuristic jam of beats and glitch. I've been using the Teenage Engineering PO-32 as the only sound source. It's a shared system tutorial, but it's mainly about the #Morphagene so I've been using the Tape & Microsound Music Machine layout to revisit some old school clocking techniques. This series could also be of some help if you only own a Morphagene and haven't been able to figure it out. Have fun!"

free PO-33 kit: 80s drums (works for PO 133 as well)
video upload by CNTR RNDM
"I'm an 80s kid…and, dude, in my opinion, - even if I sound like an old fart now - there was no better time to be a kid than the 80s (and the 90s, maybe). I mean, dude, I spent my Saturdays lying on the floor of our living room making mixtapes. My parents had this huuuuuuge record collection and I would spend hours on end going through these records…Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths, Prince, all that good stuff, you know. I mean, how cool is that? And I remember being all hyped up because my parents let me watch Wrestlemania 5…dude, Hulk Hogan vs Randy Savage…can it get any better? And I sat there wearing both my Hulkamania shirt and my WW(F|E) Championship belt waving this silly foam finger in my dad's face like there was no tomorrow. Those were the days, my friend! Nintendo released the NES, Michael Jackson's Thriller came out, endless summer nights, countless barbecues…dude, seriously, how awesome were the 80s?
To honour this amazing decade, I made this PO-33 80s drum kit consisting of 15 one shot drum hits and 3 drum loops. I really just sampled a bunch of my old drum machines and layered the samples in Ableton to…well just because😂

PO-33 KO! How to Data Transfer!
video upload by Ollie Loops
"In this chapter of our series on the Teenage Engineering PO-33 KO!, we take a look at one of the more interesting features of the KO, the ability to data transfer to and from the unit. The KO has a feature where connecting a stereo 1/8" to 1/8" cable between the unit and an audio recorder allows you to download all of the samples and patterns in the unit. This allows you to swap samples and patterns without loosing your work. You then have a back up of your work. You can also transfer files directly between two KOs. Note: this also applies to the other Pocket Operators in the Metal Series, the PO-32 and PO-35.
Here is a direct link to the WAV file:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Zeiv...
It is super important to get the right audio format when you record the data transfer. It must be a stereo 16 bit 44100 hz file format or better. The recording will likely fail if you deviant from this format."

FREE PO-33 KIT: TB-303 Acid sample kit | for Teenage Engineering PO-33 & PO-133
video upload by CNTR RNDM
"Hey, my name is Christian and I have a confession to make...I love ACID music! Over the past few years, I was involved in quite a few acid projects, such as 303 Addict, Stoney Broke Weirdos, Acid Traxx...blah, blah, who cares, right? Anyway, boomer-mode on: when I started out making acid techno, it was all about tracksuits, warehouse raves, you know all that good stuff. However, for me, acid-clubbing was never about taking pills or drinking till you pass out or whatever...I always wanted to know what gear the live acts were using, how they were performing and stuff. I always hated polished disco stuff...I was all about this raw, unpolished, acidy kind of stuff. And you know what? I still remember the first real acid gig I went to, the night I fell in love with acid music, so to say...I don't know which year it was or anything but - nevertheless - I have a super vivid memory of that particular night. So I and a couple of my mates went to this super tiny club in Duisburg called Chism (RIP Chism♥️)...we had heard good things about it but we had never been there...anyway, when we arrived, there was an old man giving out glowsticks and I was like "ok, that's weird but hey, who doesn't love glowsticks, right?"...anyway, we went in and the club was jam-packed, sweat was dripping from the ceiling, the crowd was super rowdy and aggressive (but in a positive way) and Robert Babicz aka Rob Acid was tearing the flipping walls down...it was bloody amazing...so, there was no stage or anything...he had all this gear like in the middle of the dancefloor on a folding table and there was nothing but chaos and mayhem around him...I don't know how he felt that very moment but he looked super cool and calm and played this awesome live set! Thanks for this memory Herr Babicz, Na Zdrowie! Kocham cię, mój przyjaciel!
Ok, I'm going off on a tangent here...sorry about that. You're probably here for the PO-33 kit so let me tell you a bit about it. For this PO-33 kit, I recorded both 303 loops and one-shots using Roland's TB-3 and D16's AMAZING Phoscyon plugin. The one-shots all come from the TB-3 and have been stored in the drum banks. The first two drum banks are arranged as follows:
Pads 1-4, C, all one-shots varying in intensity
Pads 5-8, D, all one-shots varying in intensity
Pads 9-12, G, all one-shots varying in intensity
Pads 12-16, A, all one-shots varying in intensity
The one-shots in the last drum bank have been arranged randomly.
You can download the FREE backup file here:

Wing Drum and Gecho v2
video upload by Gecho Loopsynth
"This is the metallic timbre #11 from the Wing Drum, processed by Gecho Loopsynth, channel #33 Dekrispator. It is an example how to modulate the sound engine in Gecho by external sound, to get interesting textures. Similar effect can be achieved with microphones. Envelope, delay and filters in Dekrispator can be switched on and off separately, here everything is left on."
Gecho v2, synced start with Pocket Operator
"A quick guide how to set up these two devices to play together in sync (this feature appeared in the firmware version 1.0.118).
In the PO, enable SY1 mode (key+bpm), then start the playback. Gecho will listen to the click track and derive the tempo from it. Then stop the PO playback, select channel (don't press SET), and start the playback again.
You can also select the channel first, then start the PO - they will still be in sync however not necessarily matching at the start of the bar (which may give interesting results too)."

Teenage Engineering Introduces New Line Module for the OP-Z
"a new module for OP–Z
our work with OP–Z is ongoing and here's a little behind the scenes dev update. as you know, the OP–Z functionality can be expanded with hardware modules. in the past we've released the oplab and rumble modules and finally we can officially reveal that we have a new module in the pipeline. it is called the line module and will be accompanied with an OP–Z firmware update.
what it does
the line module is designed to bring external audio signals in and out of your OP–Z. it adds a stereo line input and an additional stereo line output to the unit, as well as input and output for midi, trig and po sync, similar to oplab. use line in to add external audio signals to your mix and use line out as a second stereo output available within OP–Z.
you can route individual tracks to the module output instead of to the main mix to separate and process the individual tracks, or make effect loops with your favorite effect pedals. depending on your needs, you can easily switch between mono and stereo signals. the output can also be used for headphone cueing of your tracks before bringing them out to the main mix. with this you can turn your OP–Z into a live performance dream machine.
available spring 2022
we've been hinting at this module for a while and we're finally ready to officially reveal it. it will still be some time before it's available to buy so make sure to stay in the loop and we'll post again as soon as it is ready. thanks for your support!
- dev team out"

PO32 Tonic + iPhone Connection (Jamuary2022 Challenge)
video upload by Perplex On
"This jam is my attempt to take part on the weekly #jamuary2022 challenge by @True Cuckoo , where the theme "connection" has to be implemented in one or the other way. Besides, it has to use at least some acoustic samples.
I see the theme of connection contextualized in four layers:
- Emotional connection: The piano recording dates back about 5 years ago to one morning at my mother-in-law‘s house. While some part of the family was preparing food, i was tinkling on the family’s old upright piano. You can even hear my little nephew playing in the background. Especially since the piano and even the house doesn’t exist anymore in this form, it’s a nice reminder to this very moment.
- Literal connection: By strapping the PO on the iPhone, both devices almost become one new self-contained instrument, both by forming a physical unity and by enabling the usage of each audio output simultaneously.
- Physical connection: By utilizing the gyrometer sensor in the iphone to scrub through the recording in a granular synthesis environment (here using idensity app loaded with 2 pitched instances of the piano recording), the body movements are tied to the sonic outcome.
- Audiovisual connection: By presenting this little jam in combination with audioreactive visuals, which are moving forward with each snare hit, the goal is to create a visual clue for the audience to get involved even more into what is happening, creating a wider experience and connection to the act. Furthermore, there‘s a meaningful context to the interweaving circular visuals in the sense that a circle is a connection of infinite points. Like all these individual sonic grains form a whole connected sound. Like life is a connection of infinite single memories."

Pocket Operator Office Through A Lot Of Guitar Pedals – The Sequel
video upload by Brian Leahy Art
"It's been too long since we ran the unique Pocket Operator Office through a bunch of guitar effects pedals. Time for a sequel!
The Pocket Operator PO-24 Office by Teenage Engineering can produce some crushing, aggressive, and fun percussion sounds when you run it through guitar effects pedals like distortion, fuzz, and flanger. In this video I run it through the following new pedal chain (note that the first 3 pedals are “on” throughout the video):
TC Electronic Polytune 3 Mini (using this one for the buffer, since it's a long signal chain)"

"I finished Metroid Dread yesterday, and absolutely loved it. I'm a long time Metroid fan, so I figured I ought to bring that into a beat. I took a sample of the 'Phendrana Drifts' theme from Metroid Prime and made a kinda lofi/glitchy beat with it. I hope you enjoy, and if you do, don't forget to leave a like! If you're already subscribed, thanks for coming back! And if you aren't, please consider subscribing to help support the channel and see more videos like this, as well as beatmaking videos and gear discussions. Thanks so much!"
