BOARDS OF CANADA - Father And Son (COVER - Elektron Syntakt & Prophet REV2)

video upload by nicola neeco

"It immediately stood out to me as one of the most interesting tracks on the record, so I wanted to explore it in my own way rather than recreate it exactly.

I didn’t use the vocal samples, both because they’re difficult to replicate and because I was more interested in focusing on the rhythm and groove created by the synth, drums, and bass working together.

For the sound, I used the Prophet Rev2 for the keys and the Elektron Syntakt for the drums, bass and a pad-like sound.
All the patches and programming were done by me from scratch."

Lox | Twin Monomachine IDM | First pass with the new ems-monomachine-firmware

video upload by MIDERA

"Alright - so I guess someone really cool (Em-) decided to give the Elektron Monomachine new life - I installed this on both my Monomachines and gave it a test. I know there are some bugs, but after reading through them it didn't seem like it would affect what I was doing. I'm extremely excited by the updates, as they address the thing I missed a lot on the Monomachine - independent track lengths. Here you can hear just a single pattern with longer total patterns. Honestly, it's kind of game changing. So thank you Em-. This is great!

Here's where you can go to get this release: https://github.com/emuyia/ems-monomac...

midiphy zetaSID plays "Electric Jesus" by Intensity (C64 ASID)

video upload by midiphy

A masterpiece SID track made by Arman Behdad of Intensity in 2006.

This can also be played back on an original C64:
https://csdb.dk/release/?id=45023

Here, we're using quadchained midiphy zetaSIDs with hardware unison detune to slightly thicken the mix :). The MIDI ASID signal is provided by a midiphy nexusMIDI expander connected to an Elektron TM-1 MIDI Interface.

Visualization support by a tiny six inch Sony PVM 6041QM CRT.

Thanks for watching and listening!
Best regards,
Peter/Hawkeye

Broken Reverb is Better Reverb (free IRs and samples)

video upload by Oscillator Sink

"Get the IRs and Samples here: https://oscillatorsink.gumroad.com/l/...

There's an aesthetic trend in modern effects, especially in ambience effects like reverb and delay, which points towards embracing and accentuating digital imperfection.

It turns out that the glitching, aliasing, distortion and noise that engineers traditionally worked so hard to dial out of gear actually sounds pretty amazing when used creatively and intentionally.

Many FX companies have really embraced this way of working, adding controls to their effects which allow musicians to digitally degrade the sound in wonderful ways - intentionally circuit bending their instruments by design.

Another way, though, to achieve these sounds might be to buy an old, cheap reverb from ebay and circuit bend it. This electronic abuse, forces the unit into leaning into these artifacts whether it wants to or not! The results may be more chaotic, but they might also be even more fun and potentially more affordable.

NINE INCH NAILS - A Warm Place (Cover - Prophet REV2 & Elektron Analog Heat+FX)

video upload by nicola neeco

"This is my reinterpretation of A Warm Place by Nine Inch Nails, originally from The Downward Spiral album.

Instead of recreating the dense layering of the original, I approached the piece with a more minimal setup, using the Sequential Prophet Rev2, routed into the Elektron Analog Heat+FX (for saturation, compression, eq & filter)

The sound of the synth comes from a complex patch I recently designed, actually built as two separate patches, one for each hand (split mode).
There’s a certain tonal character in this patch that reminds me of Lorn’s work: dark, emotional, and slightly detuned. That influence naturally found its way into this version.

This is less about replication and more about translation: trying to preserve the emotional core of the original while reshaping its sonic identity through a different instrument and perspective."

video upload by Abre Ojos

"Back for more? Walk through the set up used to make a triptych of tracks that from this EP called Shadow Contagion. This one is built around modulating the ‪@NoiseEngineering‬ Manis Iteritas with the NonLinear Circuits Sloth all through the Tonverk's Filter Folder effect to add some heavy distortion."

Oberheim DX Full Restoration: How to Add MIDI, Upgrade RAM & Play Live

video upload by Nostalgic Explorer

"If you want to see how the Oberheim DX looks from the inside, how to clean the buttons, how to upgrade the RAM, and how to add MIDI to this classic drum machine, you're in the right place.

This machine came to me in pretty bad shape. Dirty on the outside, with some faulty buttons, and in serious need of some love. But honestly? It's not that hard to bring one of these back to life if you're careful and you enjoy working with vintage gear. And if you don't — stick around anyway, because it's super interesting to see these machines from the inside.

I'm walking you through the full process: deep cleaning, how to remove and clean the button contacts the right way (spoiler: cleaning the surface does nothing — you need to go under them), installing the Electrongate MIDI board and RAM upgrade so you don't need a battery anymore, and swapping the plastic panels for the beautiful wooden ones from Electrongate.

Big shoutout to Paul White, whose Electrongate videos were a huge reference for this build. I'm just a student passing the knowledge forward — go check his page, I'll leave the links below.

Once everything was back together and fully working, I put on a jacket — because if I'm performing original music for you, you deserve some respect — and played a live jam using the restored Oberheim DX, the Oberheim DMX, Moog Voyager, Rhodes Mark I, Oberheim Matrix 6R, Elektron Digitakt, and the Roland Space Echo RE-201."

8-BIT MINIMALISM (OTO-Biscuit, Elektron MachineDrum MKII)

"First test drive of OTO-Biscuit and just the Machinedrum.

Evolving set moving from minimal techno / tech house into deeper dub-territories.

Directly recorded on 1010 BlueBox in a single take using the MD main outs - just a tiny bit of reverb being used here, otherwise only onboard FX being used."

1/14/26 Simmons SDS6 + TAMA DS200 + Alesis MIDIVERB II + CXM 1978

video upload by Cfpp0

"This is one of two videos I recorded for the great Alex Ball (‪@AlexBallMusic‬) to use in his video about the history of drum synthesizers. I’m using the Simmons SDS7 to trigger the two halves of the TAMA DS200, with reverbs from the Alesis MIDIVERB II and the CXM 1978. The DS200 is running hot through the MIDIVERB II, overloading the preamp. The CXM 1978 has a long predelay in lo-fi mode to create a grainy pitchy echo."

Tech Talk: K.A.S.I. - Serge Modular, Improvisation & Organic Movement (Electronic Beats TV)

video upload by Telekom Electronic Beats TV

"For this episode of Electronic Beats Tech Talk, we visited Kasi in the studio to explore her unique approach to live electronic performance, modular synthesis, and hardware-driven sound design.
She is currently studying Electronic Music Production and Performance at Catalyst – Institute for Creative Arts and Technology.
Working with the Serge Modular System, selected Eurorack modules, the Erica Synths Perkons, and the Elektron Analog Four MKII, Kasi creates a sound world between experimental ambient, hypnotic textures, and raw, groove-driven techno.
In this conversation, she talks about improvisation, real-time interaction, unstable modulation, and why she treats sound as a living system — shaped by psychedelic experiences, abstract art, and organic movement.
