NEWS: Syntakt is getting a SAMPLE MACHINE!

video upload by SON WU

"An update for the Elektron Syntakt is brewing and due to arrive very soon."

LIGHTREFT x ELEKTRON [CONCRETE TEST]

video upload by Sasha DZA

"We are currently deep in the testing phase of Concrete, fine-tuning exact parameter values and exploring multiple configurations to achieve a balanced yet powerful sound. One of its primary roles is to act as a master device in a live setup.

In the current test routing, Monolit sequences tracks over MIDI in the Octatrack. The audio from the Octatrack goes directly into Concrete, and from there a second output feeds the main master signal to the speakers.

We will be sharing more test sessions soon, where you will be able to hear different drive engines we have been developing, as well as several additional features that were not part of the original announcement but emerged during the development process."

Which Elektron Sampler Should You Get?

video upload by EZBOT

"What is the difference between the Digitakt II, Octatrack MK2, and the Tonverk? While all Elektron samplers offer similar workflows, they each lean into different musical concepts. We will also discuss the learning curve of each and why you might choose one over the others. There are technically four samplers available from Elektron, but for this comparison, we will omit the Analog Rytm since it functions more as a synthesizer than a sampler. If you have questions, feel free to ask them in the live chat!"

Dreamt in Passing | Sequential Take 5 (Dreamscape)

video upload by hvegel

"A patch I created to showcase how massive the Take 5 can get. Apart from a bit of 'ITB Mastering' this is just the instrument. With 'Vintage knob' or things like LFO slew, not engaged, yes, it is true, this instrument, by design can do some very precise Analogue material, think Elektron Analog 4, but it can get into the weeds, and sound out right wild, and unruly, not unlike the Sequential Godfather it shares its DNA from.

The latest firmware update, has really encouraged me to start using this more as centrepiece in my studio. A/B-ing, sound for sound with the Prophet 5 Rev 4, with a bit of attention to detail with programming, it gets just about every bit there (factoring in a substancial lower mid-range bump in tone with P5, with a touch of those mids being abscent on design, some may consider the Take 5 a bit more 'glossy'), The Prophet 6 might be a better (more immediately satisfying) than both the P5 ot T5, but Sequential has done a wonderful job at taking the core Prophet sound, its Rev 1/2 filter, modernising it with bass compensation, and stable filters, that can be pitched to a wonderfully pleasing instability.

This reads a bit as an apologist letter, but I also think the Take 5, is very misunderstood amongst the Internet, for what it's DNA really is, how these firmware updates keep unleashing it further into the stratosphere, and despite its massive popularity at your local Synth Store, it's still this mystified object that kind of gets relegated to a vastly updated Dave Smith Mopho."

Torso Live Session #4: A. Dixen

video upload by torso electronics

"Torso Electronics presents the fourth live session recorded at our office space in Copenhagen.

In this episode, A. Dixen takes a minimalist approach to his live setup, using the S4, T1, Elektron Octatrack, Elektron Model:Cycles, Eventide Space and Boss DD-500 Digital Delay.

With the S4 being the newest addition to the setup, A. Dixen focuses on exploring and utilising it as much as possible, while relying on the T1 as the creative centrepiece for structuring and sequencing the instruments connected.

About A. Dixen
A standard bearer for the fusion of Copenhagen’s latent experimentalism with a more club-forward sensibility, A.Dixen - the moniker of Copenhagen’s Anders Dixen - is a project neither rigid nor bound, expressing instead a path of development which follows that of his own mental intrigue. It is an effort in condensing years experienced at a wide vantage and spectrum of musicality, to refine it into something delivered with measured intent.

From driving u.k. techno and bass-weighted percussive tek to liminal dub abstactions and a kind of obtuse psych-minimalism, there lies in Dixen a freedom of movement and play expressed like currents in his mental wind. Whether via the introspection of scattered polyrhythms paired with dense atmospheres or through straight 4-to-the-floor thump, there is a coherent sonic thread which strings these diverse modes together, one bound oft in modular synthesis and analogue experimentalism. Despite this headsy proclivity, he is just as likely set to rights by the weather, the time, the space; sun beams through rafters calling forth an early tech-house attitude, a deep-house swagger, a steppers inclination borne out in more recent radio outings and club sets.

Through A.dixen we find entire multitudes, a reservoir channeled through an adaptive seekers sentiment into something singular. Forward, ever beyond.

Elektron Machinedrum | FM Field Kit

video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto

"Machinedrum Sample Pack
https://akihikomatsumoto.sellfy.store...
The Elektron Machinedrum, first introduced in the early 2000s, was not simply a drum machine. It was a digital architecture built to generate percussion with surgical precision and metallic sharpness. Its synthesis models produced results that went beyond drum programming, moving into the territory of sound design. Even today, no software plugin has managed to fully replicate its distinctive texture.
This collection captures that uniqueness. Every sample was recorded directly from the Machinedrum itself. No external processing, no layering. What you hear is the circuitry of early Elektron design, distilled into one-shots that highlight the instrument’s raw identity."

Launch Control XL 3 Got an Update – Still Missing One Thing

video upload by Sineway

"I’ve been refining my live performance setup with the Syntakt and the updated Launch Control XL 3, and this jam is the result.

The XL 3 recently received a firmware update, which got me thinking about how close this controller is to being perfect for Elektron gear - and the one feature I still wish it had.

In this performance, I’m using:
Elektron macros for more expressive changes across patterns
A second row of encoders for Syntakt track levels
Momentary Breath Control via the lower button row

What I’m still missing is aftertouch MIDI support - it would unlock a third row of Elektron macros, which are so much more powerful than direct CC mappings. This is one area where alternatives like Faderfox still have a massive edge. That said, I really like the XL 3.

Curious what you think - would aftertouch support change how you use the XL 3?

If you're interested in how I set the Launch Control XL 3 up, I've made a tutorial about it featuring the Digitone II. It works exactly the same on the Syntakt: • Digitone 2 + Launch Control XL 3: One Syst..." [posted here]

Performance Mixer: The Melodic and Drum Bus Explained

video upload by EZBOT

"The Melodic Bus and Drum Bus Performance Mixer concepts are built to make live sets feel effortless: faster routing, tighter control, and more expressive movement with fewer steps. They’re designed around practical performance decisions, so you can shape tone, space, and energy in real time without breaking flow, while still leaving plenty of room for your own style and surprises. In today's stream I will teach how to build this out on the Elektron Octatrack MK2. This is a deep dive tutorial.

Monomachine sequence through DIY gong speaker

video upload by copenhagennoiselab

"This was an experiment I made. A few years back I made a DIY gong speaker and amp - using a cheap gong gong, a salvaged akai reel to reel case and a class D amplifier. I wanted to play around with it this week - so I brought it out of storage together with an Elektron Monomachine. I made a simple 4 bar pattern based mainly on me liking the sound produced. I shared an image of the setup on the swedish 99musik forum - and was asked for a sound sample. Here it is. The dry output can be heard at the end."
