"I've been building a set up for an upcoming live show and using a ‪@NovationTV‬ Launch Control XL to break open the ‪@WeAreElektron‬ Tonverk. The vid starts with the basics like using https://midi.guide/ to start and then uploading the map via Components. Then exploring how to make complex macro effect chains using MIDI CC1 ModWheel and MIDI CC2 Breath Controller to control up to four parameters at once.

"Here’s my interpretation of Sherbert Head by Boards of Canada, from The Campfire Headphase album.
It’s a relatively underrated piece, but still one of the most beautiful short tracks they’ve ever made.

I used the Prophet Rev2, Elektron Analog Heat +FX, and Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field.
The Analog Heat was key in shaping the noise, saturation, and lo-fi texture that I wanted to bring into this version."

"This is the exact drums Daft Punk sampled for Da Funk, J-Dilla Drums, and Elektron Sounds inside the Linn drum. I made the EPROMs using a Oberheim Prommer. It was not an easy task. But I took layered drums. Sampled them, turned them to binary, then program them for the Linn drum. I loved daft punk growing up. I’m from Detroit. I use to hang around J-Dilla at the time. I owned a Linn drum since I was a teenager. It was my dream to program sounds for a Linn drum. I spent thousands of hours programming a Linn drum and often times wondered how to make my Linn drum sound like daft punk. Well I did it. Inside of using a SP-1200, these are the sounds inside a Linn drum.

Kick and snare are the daft punk drums.
The hat is Machine drum.
Kicks from a machine drum are in the toms and congas.

The J Dilla claps and snares are the same exact method J Dilla would use on his Drums. After reading the book “dilla time” I was inspired to make the drums a little bit off. If you look at the actual original binary files of the Linn Drum on a spectral graph or analyze the way form, you will notice that the drums are not perfect. Prince always said you need air to make it an instrument so I gave the samples a little bit of room in the beginning so it kind of sounds off but it’s not off because you can program the timing with the pitch now exactly like a clap trap, which is ironic because that’s what I heard where the Drum clap originally came from.

"After the Hacktribe for the Electribe 2 and Pajen’s firmware for the Volca Sample, it’s now time for the Korg Volca Drum to get its own unofficial firmware update by hj-oja.

This new firmware adds some interesting features, such as Elektron-style conditions, which allow you to create longer and more complex patterns, as well as new Play FX (including octave up/down, bitcrush, reverse, all FX send, FX send only), and more.

The sound generator remains the same, but with a much more powerful sequencer that turns the Volca Drum into a real little groovebox.

I pushed the Volca Drum to its limits using the mixer send technique and added some reverb and delay in Ableton.

"I made a cover of #8, also known as 'Blur,' by Aphex Twin, from the iconic album Selected Ambient Works Volume II (Warp Records 1994)

One of the darkest and most hypnotic tracks on the album, Blur has a unique atmosphere that I tried to reinterpret using a small setup of 3 hardware instruments.

I recorded the entire performance in a single take, using:
• Sequential Prophet Rev2 for the main synth parts (with Valhalla Vintageverb reverb)
• Elektron Syntakt for the drums and rhythmic elements (no samples)
• Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field for the string sound

A special thanks to my friend Lorri for lending me his OP-1 Field for this performance.

"An evolving ambient session created with the Elektron Digitone, Analog Four, and Strymon El Capistan.

I used the Analog Four for the bass and a simple rhythm, while layering the Digitone’s sounds on top. By setting different probability values for the notes, random phrases naturally intertwine and create a constantly evolving loop.

The subtle changes keep the music moving, while still maintaining a calm and spacious atmosphere.

A simple hardware setup, but endless possibilities. ✨

Building a Minimal Performance System with OXI E16

"In this video we break down a small but deep performance setup built around the OXI E16 and the Elektron Tonverk — the core idea being that constraint creates focus. Instead of chasing more gear or more parameters, we map a handful of controls to a handful of sounds and build a pattern out of very few elements, performed live rather than programmed in advance.

What's covered:
The concept behind designing "small systems" — fewer knobs, fewer sounds, more intentional movement.
Mapping the E16 to control drums and a few additional sound sources on the Tonverk.
Routing and shaping send effects live, as part of the performance rather than as a mix afterthought.
A randomize trick: smashing everything into chaos on the fly, then snapping back instantly to a saved, safe starting point — so we can take risks without losing the pattern.
This is less a tutorial and more a way of thinking about performance setups: constrain first, then explore inside the constraint.

"A live synthesizer industrial jam performed entirely on the Elta Music Solar 42N and the Elektron Tonverk. Percussion Samples from Finland Rust (Subtracks), other samples from Voltage Chaos. Tonverk is sending out a pulse to sync the Solar 42, while receiving the two channels of the Solar 42N to add effects and stereofy them.
