Synapse Audio Obsession: 60 Cinematic Ambient Presets Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

"πŸŒƒ Synapse Audio Obsession - Posthuman Dreams is a collection of 60 dark cinematic ambient presets. It includes: 8 Basses, 9 Keys, 9 Synths, 8 Leads, 7 Pads, 5 Strings, 5 Drones, 9 Textures.
πŸ“Ί The soundset draws inspiration from sci-fi movies, cinematic soundtracks, dystopian worlds, urban landscapes, noise ambient albums, experimental modern art, and contemporary sound design.

πŸ“¦ The presets are available here: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/obse...

πŸ“Ό Built around the concept of imperfection, the collection blends gritty, lo-fi textures with constantly shifting timbres shaped through deep modulation.
The result is a living, breathing set of sounds—expressive, characterful, and capable of adding a distinctive atmosphere to any track, live performance, or visual project.

πŸ“» The timbral range is wide and diverse, covering dark, noisy, lo-fi, retro, romantic, melancholic, nostalgic, atmospheric, detuned, cold, distant, dull, massive, epic, bright, orchestral, distorted, metallic, tense, atonal, non-harmonic, FX-like, evolving, and sweeping textures.

πŸŽ› All patches are velocity-sensitive. The ModWheel enhances expressiveness by adding motion and tonal variation—brightening the sound, introducing vibrato, shifting timbre, or adding extra movement for dynamic and engaging performance.

πŸ’‘ Ensure that you are using the latest software version.
To add presets to the collection, open the plugin Browser, click Menu in the upper left corner, then select Import Folder, and specify the folder on your computer."

Making a Tonverk Techno Rumble + other things

video upload by Abre Ojos

"The first thing I like to do on a new box is make a techno rumble. I learn a lot about a machine like this as I have a goal in mind and I can explore all the options. Here is one way to do it. I also live route the Pulsar 23 Bass channel through the TOnverk and apply a bunch of effects. And then sample the Pulsar and feed the Grainer. Finally add a Pulsar snare sample and make some weird hi hats. The video starts with the final result and then the making journey. And yeah yeah, OS 1.30 but in Australia I woke up to that so this is the final video that will ever be on OS 1.21.

Fragments Vol 2 - Arturia Minifreak V - Patches 33 to 64 (of 64)

video uploads by GEOSynths

"Out Now - https://www.geosynths.com/arturia-min...

Fragments Vol 2 contains 64 new Patches for both the Hardware and the Software Plug-In. In the Demo the Audio is coming from the Plug-In, not the Hardware, though there really is very little difference, if any.

All Controllers (where applicable) are being utilized and have mappings, so Macro Functions may have a single or multiple Functions, as well as the Mod Wheel.

There are lots of textured Pads and Strings, thanks to the added Samples and Granular functions, which I have used extensively, as well as the varied Synthesis methods/Oscillator types.

Bass and Lead, lots of Synth Keys and so much more, including Arpeggios and Sequences, most of which have Tempo synced LFO's etc. This is the 2nd Video demonstrating Patches 33 to 64.

The Patches are played in the order I made them, though in the software they are loaded alphabetically."

So this happened… Pulsar 23 + Pulsar 23

video upload by Conatus Modulari

"Not what I expected nor intended, but somehow this 80ish jam happened… There's some good sounds going on, though slightly out of my comfort zone here. Uploaded it because it's all because I like playing around, next time will be a bit darker (or will it… ?).

I definitely need to dive into this Pulsar 46 thing on my desk."

And a massive playlist starting with the above at the time of this post. Use the player controls to skip around.

Torso Live Session #3: Lorenzo Colombo

video upload by torso electronics

"Torso Electronics presents the third live session recorded at our office space in Copenhagen.

In this episode, percussionist and sound artist Lorenzo Colombo presents an electroacoustic concert featuring the T1 and S4 in a hybrid setup combining metal percussion instruments and solenoids.

The performance is driven by the T1, used as both sequencer and live MIDI keyboard. It controls the SOMA Pulsar-23 and a set of dadamachines solenoids. The solenoids hit a set of Kolberg percussion bell plates, which function simultaneously as acoustic instruments and conductive metallic surfaces. Through body-resistance and circuit-bending interactions, these plates influence electrical signals and directly modulate the Pulsar-23 as well as generates MIDI that control the same instrument . All audio is routed into the S4, used as the sole sound-shaping and modulation unit.

About Lorenzo Colombo
Lorenzo Colombo is a Copenhagen-based percussionist, performer, and sound artist dedicated to contemporary and experimental music. He teaches percussion and post-instrumental performance at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he earned his Soloist Diploma in 2023. A recipient of the LΓ©onie Sonning Talent Prize and Musikanmelderringens Kunstnerpriser, Lorenzo was also part of Statens Kunstfond’s Den Unge Kunstneriske Elite program (2023–24)."

SOMA Laboratory and The Midium announce PULSAR-23 1984 Edition

Press release follows:

SOMA LABORATORY AND THE MIDIUM® COLLABORATE ON LIMITED EDITION PULSAR-23

New circuits and custom aesthetic introduced, marking first SOMA partnership with US-based engineers STEVENSON RANCH, CALIFORNIA––23 JANUARY 2026––Local online family-run-and-operated synth shop and boutique, The Midium, collaborates with SOMA Laboratory to introduce the SOMA Laboratory PULSAR-23 1984 Edition. New bass drum and bass synth circuitry expand the current PULSAR-23 four-voice drum machine and synthesizer’s functionality, while a custom polished-steel chassis and red LED scheme accompany an all-black carrying case, red-white-and-black alligator clips, and typewritten certificate of authenticity.

“The SOMA Laboratory PULSAR-23 1984 Edition is a marriage of parallel ideas. While having aconversation with SOMA Laboratory US’s Kevin Flynn in early 2025, we forged the concept for a 1984-inspired aesthetic born from the times in which we live, as well as some well-known works of fiction we both enjoy,” says Cami Bitar, who owns and operates The Midium with their wife Erin Bitar and 4-year-old daughter Melody Nightingale Wednesday Bitar. “During that conversation, we decided that a polished-steel chassis and red LEDs would also give the PULSAR-23 1984 Edition an intensely industrial feel as seen in certain sci-fi movies of the 1980s. After its aesthetics were set, Kevin mentioned that he and Noah Jolly of Ground Grown Circuits had been developing prototypes for experimental boards for the PULSAR-23 synthesizer and drum machine. That’s precisely when the ‘1984 Edition’ looked like the perfect platform for their new circuitry. To complete the story and bring the ‘1984’ inspiration full circle, we saw that a stark black case and typewritten certificate of authenticity would round out the idea. Finally, having decided that we would work on this together, it was determined that The Midium and SOMA Laboratory would be the only authorized sellers of the PULSAR-23 1984 Edition.” Bitar adds that only 84 units will be made for the US market, according to SOMA Laboratory.

Kevin Flynn, who heads the SOMA Laboratory US Division, gets into the details. “The SOMA Laboratory PULSAR-23 1984 Edition marks the first time that the company has partnered with US-based engineers. Noah Jolly and I developed new circuit boards for the bass drum and bass synth modules onboard the PULSAR-23 in order to see how far we can push the PULSAR-23 platform.”

Flynn explains what makes the SOMA Laboratory PULSAR-23 1984 Edition’s sound and timbre unique.

“For instance, the bass drum on the PULSAR-23 1984 Edition introduces an oscillator design that produces an asymmetrically clipped triangle wave that can be driven to the point of becoming a square wave, which makes for a more aggressive and harder-hitting bass drum which is perfect for techno and other musical styles. The bass drum on the PULSAR-23 1984 Edition’s tuning range is now also wider than before, which also adds to its flexibility in use, and the “OMG” pin is now an AC-coupled FM input that enhances the bass drum’s sound design potential.” He ends by saying of the second modified module in the PULSAR-23 1984 Edition, the bass module, that it “now features a new filter inspired by the Polivoks, which is a classic analog synth made in the Soviet Union during the 1980s. That’s a key part of the ‘1984’ concept, and the bass module’s new filter has a similarly aggressive nature.”

The SOMA Laboratory PULSAR-23 1984 Edition is available now exclusively at TheMidium.com and EarwormLLC.com.
