MStretchSynth Demo - Kevin Schlei (2010)

MStretchSynth Demo - Kevin Schlei (2010) from Kevin Schlei on Vimeo.

"'MStretchSynth' uses multi-point (multi-touch) data streams to create a synthesis instrument driven by the relationships between points. Instead of mapping touch positions (X and Y coordinates) directly to synthesis parameters, relationships such as angle, distance, and velocity compared to other points are used.

'MStretchSynth' uses angle, distance and total velocity between points to map to synthesis parameters pitch, amplitude and delay depth."

MDrumSynth Demo - Kevin Schlei (2010) from Kevin Schlei on Vimeo.

"'MDrumSynth' uses multi-point (multi-touch) data streams to create a synthesis instrument driven by the relationships between points. Instead of mapping touch positions (X and Y coordinates) directly to synthesis parameters, relationships such as angle, distance, and velocity compared to other points are used.

'MDrumSynth' pulls a variety of data from the multi-point interactions. Mapped parameters include: number of active points, points created per second, points held per second, points' distance and angle to previous, and average X and Y position of all points. This creates a very expressive percussion instrument - even without pressure sensitivity."

Synapse EKS-9 RELEASED

"Synapse Audio introduces a new software synth to its product line. The EKS-9 is a unique VST/AU plugin, dedicated to creating powerful electronic bass drum sounds, reminiscent of vintage hardware. Its virtual analog engine is not only capable of authentic recreations of the sounds from such machines, but can synthesize new kick sounds with lots of punch too! For this reason, it should not miss in any electronic music producer's plugin arsenal.

The EKS-9 is available for Windows and Mac OS X. A free demo version can be downloaded from our Download page. It is fully functional, except that patches cannot be recalled and that periodic white noise is introduced every minute. The full version can be purchased from our shop page.

System requirements:

# Windows: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
# Mac OS X: OS X 10.4 (Tiger), 10.5 (Leopard), 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
# A host software which supports VST or AudioUnits

The OS X version is a universal binary and thus functions with Intel-based Macs as well as with older PPC-based machines.

As an introductory promotional offer, the EKS-9 can be purchased from our shop page for only $39 during the first month; regular price is $49."

Synthesizer chop - Custom Roland JD-800

A smooth theme

YouTube via attorks
"Kind of inspired by DoctorVague and Ian Boddy (when in Red Shift), I am experimenting with Ableton Live to see if it can be a help in analog sequencing. And tonight this lovely sequence came up so I thought, lets make a video. I have 2 MIDI tracks and 1 track with a drum loop. One MIDI track controls the self-built Modular and the 2nd MIDI track the Creamware MiniMax ASB. I couldn't connect the DotCom because I have only 1 MIDI/CV converter. Both MIDI tracks have several clips with looping 8 step sequence in different keys. But I have not found out how to change the clip of the 2 MIDI track at the same time and at the right bar so I click the clip on each track which causes the odd discrepancy in clips/keys and changing too soon; sorry for that. The melody is performed on the Roland XP-80 with a Mellotron voice. The Waldorf is doing what a Waldorf is good at; making these Waldorf sounds. The soloing is done on the Clavia Nord Lead 1 with an organ-type voice."

Sequential Pro One BLue LED mod

YouTube via thisfear
"Sequential Circuits Pro One synthesizer modification to change the old red LED to a new blue one. This is very easy to do. Note the flat edge on the LED when you put the new one in place of the old. You should probably change the resistor to a higher value too, or else the newer higher efficiency LED will blind you.
