Bus Powered Access Virus TI + Nord Modular g1 25 Synth

via this auction

""Everybody serious in the electronic music scene knows that the Virus and Nord sound cannot be achieved through software plugins alone"
--
Up for sale is my completed synth project.

Technical Notes:

In a nutshell, the combo is comprised of the following 3 main parts :

1 Novation 25 key SL mkII
1 Clavia Nord Micro Modular
1 Access Virus TI Snow

All parts have been soldered and mounted together inside the novation shell:

the micro modular and the TI snow receive power from the fw800 bus.

(you no longer have to plug them into the wall!)

unlesss you want to of course, all orignal power sockets are intact and accessable from the outside so you can still use wall wart power if you prefer.. the [audio out] of the micro modular is hardwired to the [audio in] of the TI snow. I also left the four micro modular 1/4" jacks accesable so you can plug input the mm voncoder or output the raw mm signal. the midi ports of the micro modular are hardwired to the midi ports of the novation. All original Virus TI Snow and Nord Modular jacks are accessible from the back of the synth (as seen in photo 6) also as you can see from the photo 1 , the main virus volume knob is routed to the upper right hand corner. I also swapped out blue for red on the novation scribble strip. so in total the synth requires 3 cords/ports to operate: 1 FW800 cable for power 1 USB port for novation SL/mkII and micro modular 1 USB port for the Virus TI Snow Also included are original cases and parts for the TI Snow and Nord Micro."

"This is a DIY semi-modular based around the ASM2 synth. To say it’s big is an understatement."

KORG MS-50 Repair

via Analog Sweden

"This time on the workbench is a Korg MS-50, this is the expander module for the Korg MS-20. This unit had a dead oscillator, after repairing it I noticed the jacks were very scratchy and cleaned them as good as possible, many of them may well need to be replaced in the future but for now it’s working fine. All that remains to do is to recap the power supply and calibrate it back to factory defaults."

Access Virus Vuvuzela Competition

via Access on Facebook

"The Virus Vuvuzela Song Contest

Your mission is to write a song featuring either the Virus Vuvuzela patch or alternatively the Virus Vuvuzela samples provided by us. There are no restriction to the style of the song, we would like to encourage you though to use the Vuvuzela in a creative way. You will recognize that both the Vuvuzela sample and patches provided are not necessarily in tune which keeps things more authentic. In case you would like to alter the patches or samples, feel free to do so. Use what you have - this is a sound design contest after all. It is not advisable though to alter the content beyond recognition since the contest is about the Vuvuzela’s sound.

The winner will be chosen by the Access Music team, the judges decision is final. The winner will receive a Virus TI Snow from us door-to-door free of change.

In order to enter the contest you are required to upload your song entry as an mp3 file no later than the 30th of August 2010. Details on how to upload your song will be available by 20th of August 2010 on this page.

By entering the contest, you guarantee that your contribution is copyright clean, you are the only copyright holder and no third party composition copyrights are involved. You also guarantee that all samples used are cleared. You grant Kemper Digital GmbH the right to use the song within the context of the contest and make it available for public to listen to. We plan to make all songs available online through our own web server or a third party server such as Soundcloud. You remain the copyright holder of the song.

Access support will not be able to assist you modifying and/or installing the patches or samples. We provide the raw samples along with a Kontakt/EXS/Reason/Structure patch which might work with your sequencer and software sampler. We also provide the original Virus Vuvuzela patches for Virus TI users. There will be a dedicated section on the Access Music forum where attendees can help each other out. Check http://www.virus.info/forum/ for further details.
How to get started?

This competition is for Virus fans only. To download the Vuvuzelas and participate in the contest you are required to become a Virus fan first by clicking on the “like” button in the blue status bar right on top. Once you've done that, you will see the download options."
