"If you don't know about the Musonics version, they were a very early version of the Minimoog, built after RA moog but still before the more common Moog Music. The musonics version is considered the best sounding version of the Minimoog ever made, with very raw analog sound, and I believe there are less than 100 in existence. In addition, there is a rare cv input board installed by CAE Sound (in San Mateo) giving you CV input (you can see the jack near the serial number on the back of the synth)."

This one had a BIN of US $8,299.00 but did not sell.

Emu Modular for Sale

"I am selling a gigantic Emu modular that belonged to Mark Lindsay (Paul Revere and The Raiders). After leaving the Raiders, Lindsay worked on television and movie soundtracks and commercials. This modular was used most notably for the Shogun Assassin soundtrack. There are over 70 modules in this system, including 11 VCOs, 8 Filters, and 8 Envelope Generators. There is a full list of modules below.

It has been in storage for 30+ years, and is in good to excellent cosmetic condition. There are no cables included, so at the moment it is not tested. NYC modular synth expert Steve Masucci will be testing the modules, and will have more information by Monday. You can find more details about Emu Modulars here.

We are not interested in breaking this apart, and are only selling the entire unit, 4 cabinets + keyboard.
This instrument is a museum piece, and an important part of analog synthesizer history. Please send serious offers only. If we don't get any reasonable offers it will go on eBay. We are not interested in any trades.

iOS 4.2 Supports CoreMIDI

"Support for CoreMIDI

The first beta of iOS 4.2 adds support for the CoreMIDI framework to the operating system's application program interfaces. This could suggest that future applications would allow new avenues for musical creation, and could also allow physical MIDI instruments connectors.

MIDI, or Musical Instrument Digital Interface, is an industry standard that allows electronic music machines to synchronize and communicate. With an adapter, a device like an iPhone could theoretically create and record sounds from a MIDI instrument."

MIDI for everyone! :) Why is this important? Currently MIDI devices like the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer and Akai SynthStation25 require developers to use their proprietary SDKs to talk to their devices. This translates to more work for developers if they want to support different devices. Not just for the initial release of their apps but anytime there is an update to the SDK. With CoreMIDI they can just focus on it and let hardware manufacturers decide to support it or not. I'm also guessing KORG would be more likely to support CoreMIDI on the iElectribe vs. another company's SDK. We are getting very close to syncing iPads and iPhones with other gear folks.
