Naked Eyes Always Something There - cover
YouTube Uploaded by EditEd4TV on Aug 7, 2011
"This is my version of "Always Something There originally by Naked Eyes, recreated (a "ReCover" as I call it) completely in Propellerhead's Record. Almost all custom patches (the tubular bells are from the Abbey Road ReFill), all original note data (no web download of MIDI files)."
And the original:

Roland TB-303 Bassline Synth with MidiBass-II Control
"Roland TB-303 in very good condition which has recently been overhauled and modified with the Sequentix Midibass-II CPU allowing the user to control the synthesizer section and filter cutoff via midi (If you're unfamiliar with this modification please check out the Sequentix link above). The MIDIBass-II board also transmits the notes from the 303's internal sequencer via MIDI, allowing you to capture the unique quality of patterns created through the TB user-interface. Obviously you don't have to use the midi control aspect and when this is unplugged the synth works exact as it would had it not been modified. The MidiBass-II control is ideal for further editing or chaining patterns on a PC or hardware sequencer, pattern backup etc. The unit functions perfectly without double triggers or scratchy pots which is a very common issue in the original 'well-used' units. Overall the unit is in very good condition but does show some paint loss around the corners and edges as would be expected for saying it is over 25 years old. Otherwise, the machine is very well presented. The MidiBass modifications has not changed the actual synth voice of the machine and the glorious sound of the original unit has been fully preserved. The MidiBass CPU has only added further functionality allowing you to integrate the synth into your DAW of choice as most of us want these days."
eowave Persephone analog synth
via this auction
"Handmade boutique monophonic analog synthesizer with pressure sensitive ribbon controller. This is an amazingly flexible synth with a 100 % analog oscillator. You can set the range of the ribbon controller from a single octave all the way to 10 octaves! The timbre is also adjustable, there’s a nice low pass filter, an LFO, and it’s quite easy to get Moog type “fretless” bass sounds, as well as a very nice theremin imitation (and it’s much, much easier to play than a theremin). With the right amplification, I think you could get a pretty good ondes martenot sound out of the Peresphone, as well some cello-like tones.
Detailed review available here.
This is a professional instrument, built by hand in Paris by eowave, and shipped from France here to the U.S. Note that this auction is for the stand-alone “desktop” Persephone, not the suitcase model. It is an exactly as new instrument and will be shipped in its original packaging, complete with the small manual and all other paperwork.
Here’s a link for the eowave description: Note that the desktop Mk I is currently out of stock and no longer available at eowave."

The Death of Discourse

"A delicate tone poem about how the masses have hijacked rational discourse in the U.S. Much like Athens 2500 years ago.....and in each case, hijacked by those who use rhetoric for political manipulation. The results are never pretty, folks."
"Arturia ARP 2600 V for the "synth" stuff, and the tapeworm mellotron vst."

"Someone requested a solo Arp2600 filter demo on the Code 8
here it is - there is some delay added, just to make it less boring
Single sawtooth, legato and glide some VCO2 to filter crossmodulation, sub-oscillator, then dual sawtooth
Soundcloud processing makes it a bit fuzzy - 24 bit original file download available"

Hadikat Raja VII, Première Partie

"Seventh visit to the garden. Composition for Keyboard Virus TI."
"Just a detail : this time the piano used in the begining is not one of my favorite prepared pianos created on the Virus TI but the Steinway of Wiener Philarmonik by IK Multimedia, transformed by various GRM Tools. On the contrary, the clarinet you will hear in solo from the third minute and at the end of second part, as all the other sounds, has been created on the Virus TI."
Hadikat Raja VII, Deuxième Partie
Update: I sent the following to RADIOKLOW and thought I'd share it here as well. I love the use of the Virus in these pieces. Here is why.
"As always, I love your use of the Virus TI and the sounds you create with it. It's refreshing to hear it used in this way. I think it's inspirational in that it reminds people you can use synths for more than rhythm based electronic music. People seem to associate music like this with Buchla and forget you can use a synth like the Virus to explore sound in a similar way. It's easy to fall into the use of synths for more conventional electronic music. Your music reminds me of when I first explored editing synths and my initial love for synthesis unbound by conventional sounds. For me it was all about creating new instruments never heard before. My first synth was the Matrix-6, hence the alias matrix and name of the site. The Matrix-6 has a pretty extensive modulation matrix, tracking and ramp generators, velocity sensitivity, aftertouch, and something not common on most synths, release velocity. You can map all of this to different parameters in the modulation matrix allowing you to essentially create unique expressive instruments." It was more about exploring sound than trying to create specific sounds to use in a mix. Note it's all good in my book, it's just nice to be reminded that you are free to explore anything you want, anytime you want. Don't box yourself in.
Rhodes Chroma Overlay for the Doepfer Drehbank

I plan to cover it in adhesive black film and then print this design on two clear sheets of overhead film, joining them at the middle.
The knobs are also grey and hopefully I can track down thinner black knobs, maybe even with knob caps in the Chroma colour scheme. If all turns out well I might even add cherry end cheeks.
The two columns of knobs to the right correspond to eight input jacks at the back. I've thought about re-programming the Drehbank to allow all these eight to accept breath control and then map it to eight different destinations in the Chroma. More on this (a lot) later... The blank knobs are unused. I thought about removing them, but God knows what Dave and Sandro might add in the future. Can you even do scratch patches and bank select by CC? :)
The typeface isn't the best as this resolution, but you get the general idea."
