"Dirty Electronics FLASH BANG SOLDER - Festival of Britain 60th Anniversary
More info
John Richards (Dirty Electronics) will be creating a large-scale public artwork entitled Hope as part of the Festival of Britain 60th Anniversary at the Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, London, 13 and 14 August. The public will be able to drop in to a free workshop and build a tiny 'grain' synthesizer that omits a very short repeated sound and visually concurrent blinking LED. As the weekend progresses, the grains of sound are amassed into an installation to create an evolving sound and visual texture. It is only through a collective effort that the final piece is realised. From the basis of adding 'simple' grains of sound and light, a complex stochastic process and experience is produced. The work explores the themes of mass production and individualism, the hand-made and collective process in the creation of an artwork. A limited edition Festival of Britain Emblem Synth will also be produced in collaboration with Black Country Atelier.

LOVE STORY

"Here comes my latest experiment. This track was done with the elektron machinedrum uw for most of the drum parts. The Ocatrack plays the sampled 606 snare and hihat and some fx stuff and the elektron monomachine does all the synth work. Everything was recorded into Ableton Live 8, and spiced up with some compression and reverb. The Video was editet with Final Cut Pro X and yes its meant to be lo-fi and trashy all the way.
Cheers"
KORG VC-10 Analog Vocoder 1978 | HQ DEMO

"The Korg VC-10 vocoder came out 1978 together with the MS-synths. The VC-10 also contains a full polyphonic keyboard and a dynamic microphone. The VC-10 has the same casing as the Korg MS-10, the VC-10 is just heavier (and this is not because its microphone). The VC-10 sounds quite good. The pitch can also be controlled by an external voltage."

„Ostinato for 8 iPods" - Classical Music with smartphones
- DigiEnsemble: flutes and violins made of smartphones!
The DigiEnsemble Berlin is in uncharted waters. It plays classical music with smartphones. Now, they come out with comprehensive material showing how to make joint music with smartphones and tablet-PCs.
With its own composition „Ostinato for 8 iPods" the DigiEnsemble Berlin releases an own piece of music especially composed for mobile gadget. Oriented to classical music it meets the opportunities of a smartphone that turn it into an instrument.
„Ostinato for 8 iPods" is appropriate to eight players with iPods, iPhones or iPads. With a little practice it sounds like a polyphonic instrumental piece. Commented by words of its composer the sheet music for "Ostinato for 8 iPods" is published for free usage. The piece especially addresses those who have never learned an instrument or only rarely use it. The way it is designed opens the possibilities of making digi-music to everyone - even to beginners.
In its newly produced video the DigiEnsemble gives a foretaste of its prowess. From close camera perspective the art of playing can be seen in detail. The digi-musicians show how they play their instruments individually. Moreover the DigiEnsemble gives answers to questions not only musicians are concerned with: How does it work? What is special about making digi-music? What are digi-instruments good for?
The DigiEnsemble Berlin makes smartphones sound like music instruments. Eight partly classical educated musicians got together trying out how to turn iPods, iPhones and iPads into instruments. Everybody is invited to share this experience and turn school break, coffee klatch or regulars´ table into a smartphone orchestra rehearsal.
How does yours sound?

The DigiEnsemble is an experimental study group founded and led by Matthias Krebs that follows a systematic approach to playing on mobile devices (iphone, ipad & co). Regular meetings are held for group practice as well as discussion and refinement of the approach.
