TB MIDI Stuff for iPad

TB MIDI Stuff is a generic modular MIDI control surface for iPad.
You can create your own pages, or use the built-in MIDI keyboard (with Arpeggiator, modulation wheel, pitch wheel and accelerometer velocity), the built-in Pads controller (with customizable pads banks, accelerometer velocity, transposition, full velocity mode and repeat mode) or the 16 channels MIDI mixer (pan, volume and mute).

The built-in keyboard, the pads controller and all drum pads in your custom pages can use Accelerometer Velocity for notes On messages.
All pads (including drum pads) can fire multiple notes to create "one hit" configurations (each note can use or not the accelerometer velocity). You also can create any pads banks you need for the pads controller.

TB MIDI Stuff use CoreMidi : you can use any supported device, like the native WiFi driver or the camera connection kit with an external sound card. Each page can use a different CoreMidi driver.
Controls can use the iPad accelerometer as input (even faders and knobs), in each dimension (X, Y, Z or, for XY Pads, a mix of them).

- Rotary sliders
- Horizontal sliders
- Vertical sliders
- Horizontal faders (with different colors)
- Vertical faders (with different colors)
- Mixer knobs (with different colors and flavors)
- Drum Pads
- XY Pads

You can open up to 32 pages simultaneously. You can change pages with three fingers swipe gesture, manage the pages order, open multiple instances of the same page and change the MIDI Out driver or the MIDI Out channel (or both) without entering the editor for each instance.
Swipe shortcuts (1, 2 and 3 fingers) let you access quickly to the MIDI keyboard, the pads controller or the 16 channels mixer.

The Tetrafol

via monome, via Wired
"Los Angeles musical group Fol Chen has created a strange new instrument that lets listeners re-create the band’s unique sound.
The device, called a Tetrafol, is a wooden tetrahedron that can manipulate sound. Its guts sense orientation and motion and use those movements to modify the playback of sounds. Each device comes loaded with mini-compositions created by Fol Chen, but users of the Tetrafol can also upload their own sounds to manipulate..."

Polytonal Piece [SIMMONS Silicon Mallet Piece]
YouTube Uploaded by garyfieldman on Nov 21, 2011
"Interesting green sparkles of light projected onto the side walk from the store "Faces", in Northampton Ma. The music is "Polytonal Piece", an assignment for a New England Conservatory class taught by Hankus Netsky, around 1995. The influence is definitely in part from Miles Davis, from "In A Silent Way", and that electric modal period.
Synesthesia: Not the colors, but the texture of the bouncing balls of light go together with the music relative to my synesthetic sense.
Performed on the Simons Silicon Mallet."

KORG MS-2000BR w/keys

via Mackenzie on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge where you'll find more pics.
"Converted my rack mounted synth into one with a keyboard. Achieved by combining an Alesis 25 key controller with my Korg MS-2000BR. There is only one power supply(the korgs) and the Korg still has the external midi input available."

Moog Music Launches Season Two Of Moog Sound Lab And A Partnership With SPIN.com
"November 21, 2011: Moog Music launches Season Two of Moog Sound Lab, a unique performance series giving artists the opportunity to experiment with various forms of synthesis and soundscaping. Season Two marks a partnership with music tastemaker, SPIN.com. SPIN will exclusively present one performance from each session.
Moog Sound Lab Season Two’s debut episode features a distinctive performance by Twin Shadow, who applies synthesis to organically re-invent his breakthrough songs “Castles In The Snow” and “Slow”. The on-line series is creatively engineered and filmed at Moog Music's factory in Asheville, North Carolina by Moog’s in-house multi-media production team.
Little Dragon, The Antlers, Ra Ra Riot, and Megafaun join Twin Shadow for the second season of Moog Sound Lab. Each band re-imagined two of their songs while experimenting in Moog's gear rich, black box studio space within its working factory. Combining artists' untethered creativity with access to the full catalog of Moog's handcrafted electronic musical instruments, Moog Sound Lab offers viewers a rare view of performances usually reserved for private rehearsals and experimentation that take place regularly at the Moog factory.
Viewers may watch one performance exclusively on SPIN.com and the other at moogsoundlab.com. The episodes will debut on the first and third Mondays of each month. Little Dragon's session will premier December 5th.
Season One of Moog Sound Lab featured Tegan and Sara, Phantogram, OK GO, Junip, Dorit Chrysler, and The Dandy Warhols, which can be viewed at moogsoundlab.com.
