Absolute Extremes MCBC-01 Moog Circuit Bending Akai S01

From the creators of the Ninstrument & SYNTHBOY+, Absolute Extremes brings us the MCBC-01 custom bent Akai S01 with Keith McMillen QuNeo & iPad dock (click through for more pics).

"Josh Felice and I saw the next Moog Circuit Bending Challenge and Josh suggested we enter in a custom version of the bent Akai S01 that I had done before. (Scroll down to see the original) Credit goes to Circuitbenders.co.uk for first inventing this bend. We took the original bent design and disseminated the best bends and added a few more cool and crazy features. First we have introduced a couple of square clocks that actually feed directly into the ram causing all sorts of mayhem and the other feature was to include a dock feature that would allow midi control from an iPad or QuNeo. You can also sample Animoog straight from the iPad too! I chose to design in hardwood to pay tribute to Moog and their designs. It was a lot of fun working in wood for a change. Video coming soon!"

DIY Electronic Drum Pad Unit Prototype

YouTube Published on Sep 19, 2012 by Geigertek

"A few seconds of vid testing out a DIY drum pad unit my son and I built. And yes, you can hear the sticks hitting the pads - it was done in a hurry!!!"

via Neil Fellowes on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge:

"This'll make you smile - I wanted a basic electronic drum kit, but alas couldn't afford one (I take sympathy well), so I made one. Out of an old wardrobe, 8 table mats and gaffer tape. It works - eat yer heart out Roland. Usual piezo transducer triggers which are fed into an Alesis DM5 drum module - oh and I couldn't resist the cheesy Simmons sounds ;-) And before anyone says anything, I know you can hear the sticks on the pads (mats) - I did the video in a hurry."

Futureretro 777, MPC-60 (Oberheim DMX Sampled) Acid Funk

Futureretro 777, MPC-60 (Oberheim DMX Sampled) Acid Funk Demo by Jordan Passmore

YouTube Published on Sep 19, 2012 by Jordan Passmore

"Here is a brief demo of the Futureretro 777 monophonic analog synthesizer/sequencer and the Akai MPC-60 sampler/sequencer. The 777 is running off of it's internal sequencer and is sync'd via MIDI clock to the MPC-60. The MPC-60 has a sampled set of Oberheim DMX sounds. The delay that the 777 and drums are sent to is the Ibanez DMD2000. All are mixed on my StudioMaster mixer and sent straight to my soundcard (Native Instruments Kore 1)."

"Vintage soviet delay\reverb\flanger effects processor "DL-301". It was produced on the "Komcon" factory in Moscow in 1990. The factory itself "lived" only a year (1990-1991) before the fall of the USSR. The unit is EXTREMELY RARE and is hard to find by all means even in former USSR countries. The first time on Ebay, the device got all inscriptions in English, amazing sound and solid construction of a rack size.

The front panel has knobs: Input, Output, Feedback, Mix, Delay, Depth, Rate.
Buttons: Off \\ LPF / INV, Bypass, Hold, Echo \\ Flang, Range I \\ Range II, Power.

The "hold" button produces interesting sampler-like "stuttering" effect. The audio input\outputs are standart TRS 1\4 jacks. Also there is a 5din "remote" socket for connection to pedal or switch. DL-301 signal processor produces sound that differs from well-known western processor brands. Unit sounds really fantastic - very wide and clean set of effects like delay-reverb-flanger-chorus! (check the Demo section). The mains power of the unit is 220 volts. For 110v countries I`ll include voltage converter. The unit is fully tested & is in ideal 100% working condition."

"In the old days of Maplin/ETI you could build your own monosynth/modular/echo unit/vocoder, this is a little monosynth designed by Tim Orr (of EMS fame) and it sounds lovely. Has been restored and is in great condition, a really fantastic little monosynth that has very good build quality (not always the way with self builds)

This unit will be set-up and tested by James at Synth Repair Services before being shipped"
