KARMA Motif brings developer Stephen Kay's award-winning and patented KARMA algorithmic music technology to a number of Yamaha Motif-based models, giving them extensive new interactive groove generation, arpeggiation and arranger-like capabilities. The software uses the Song/Mixing/Multi Mode of the Motif-based instruments to provide 16 part multi-timbral templates with the kind of fully interactive real-time controlled grooves that only KARMA can produce.

The software includes the ability to use the keyboard's Remote Mode to control all of KARMA's functions directly from the keyboard, while KARMA sends parameter information and values directly to the keyboard's display. This allows you to control KARMA from the keyboard without looking at the computer, and makes it feel like the KARMA software is built-in to the keyboard.

KARMA Motif uses the keyboard's Song/Multi/Mixing mode, where each of the included KARMA Performances is a complete, 16 part multi-track six-module KARMA algorithmic music groove, with a left hand and right hand zone for controlling KARMA and soloing on top of it, and eight fully voiced and completely different scenes. The keyboard's arps are also additionally integrated in each Performance as additional elements that can be added via KARMA's Intelligent Chord Trigger Transposition features. And since you are already in Song Mode, you're just one step away from recording your KARMA-fied musical performances into the internal sequencer - or you can route the output to any DAW for external sequencing. Furthermore, a KARMA Performance can call up any Voice, Performance, Song, Pattern, or Master slot when loading, so that KARMA can be used in any of the supported model's modes.

KARMA Motif is available directly from Karma-Lab for US $199. A 13 minute Video Introduction on the Motif XF is available demonstrating many of KARMA's interactive performance capabilities. More information, including links to documentation, tutorials and user forums, can be found at karma-lab.com/karma-motif

KORG VOLCA LIVE SESSION w AMBIENT GUITAR (Drone/Looping/Soundscape) Keys Bass Beats

Published on Feb 3, 2014 VolcaRock·10 videos

"KORG VOLCA Series on an AMBIENT psychedelic LIVE SESSION with ambient guitar live loops (Drones) & Roland Juno 60, Jomox Xbase 09 (just percussion sounds).
Main synths are Volca Keys, Bass and Beats with individual Hi Hat Output.
The Main Output of VOLCA BEATS goes to the Filter Input of my DOEPFER MS-404.

I have described in the video (filmed with 3 cams), which Synths are playing and muted. So you don't have to guess the different sounds.

In the middle of the session I used Waldorf Puls I for a Sample&Hold-sound, too. Yamaha RM1x is just used as Master MIDI-Clock (no use of internal sounds). Beats has MIDI-Out Mod and syncs my Boomerang III Looper, which is running in free mode. all synths use their internal sequencer/arp or are played live.
Recorded without overdubs and mastering in just one take.

I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT

"Last week we had the pleasure of hosting Bilal Ghalib, a hacker aficionado and founder of both GEMSI (Global Entrepreneurship and Maker Space Initiative) and pocketfactory.org, at our offices in New York City. We asked Bilal to come spend time with us at littleBits and make the craziest project he could think of.

Not only did Bilal create a mind-blowing project with interesting interfaces that challenge the way we think about littleBits in combination with the physical and digital realms, his process truly showcased the power of littleBits as a prototyping tool.

littleBits makes an open source library of electronic modules that snaps together with magnets for prototyping, learning, and fun. Find out more at littleBits.cc"

"Reuniting with an instrument is one beautiful thing.
For a little less than a year, my Oberheim Matrix 6R was “incapacitated”, doing all sorts of crazy things. A couple of weeks ago, I finally found the time to take it to Hernán “The Wizard” Baldi, who returned it in Mint Condition. Anew.

The excitement and emotion of having my Matrix back in my studio was such that I set myself to a “challenge”: composing a track using ONLY the Matrix, programming every sound from an “INIT PATCH” situation.

I then complemented those sounds with the wonderful Eventide Space Reverb, added a little EQ and compression, and after several days of mixing, here’s the result, my first Ambient work of 2014.

I hope you enjoy it."

via the seller: "I am the original owner of this beauty. I purchased Brand new in probably about 1982 and used it for some minor gigging, but mostly I used it in my song writing and recording. So it never was exposed to heavy traveling and abuse. It does have a couple of broken sliders which still work fine it's just that the little plastic sliders broke. I still have the pieces along with the little caps, and they could probably glued but I never had the desire to open up the chassis and do that since the sliders still work fine. You'll see what I'm talking about in the Contour Generator section. It's the Loudness - ATTACK & SUSTAIN sliders. They have red caps and those pieces are pushed into the the foam of the flight case. And also in the Mixer section it is missing the little green cap on the NOISE slider, which got lost along the way. Again it works completely fine without that little cap. You'll see all this in the pictures.

The Liberation was the first commercially produced Keytar style keyboard/synthesizer. It was big back in the 80's and is a classic analog machine. It has 2 monophonic VC Oscillators and a polyphonic capability so you can actually play organ type chords. But it's not like a 32 or 64 voice machine that you can play Big Lush chords. The Oscillators have Square, Triangle and Sawtooth waveforms. The keyboard is aftertouch sensitive. The neck of the unit features controls for Force, Glide, Mod Amount, Filter, Volume and a Pitch Bend Ribbon.

This unit does show some signs of normal wear and usage with minor scuffs and paint wear but overall it is in really good shape. It also comes in a Flight Case that, if I recall correctly, I paid a couple hundred for back in the day. This is a heavy duty case and not the guitar like case that I've seen. The case is in good shape although the foam padding has started to break down after all these years, so I've lined it with a moving blanket to help keep the foam from sticking to the keyboard..."
