Roland MT300s Portable Synth Boombox

Here's an interesting one from Roland's past. I don't believe one has ever been featured on MATRIXSYNTH before. Curious how editable the synth engine is and if it's based on one of their PCM based rack synths. If anyone knows, feel free to comment. It's actually a cool portable design, although it doesn't appear to be able to run on batteries.  Regardless, if it is fully editable, pair it up with an iPad editor or external knob box and you could have a convenient setup for exploring its sounds.

"This great item can be used as a stereo speaker system for your whole setup as it has a nice pair of drivers with great clarity and decent loudness. There is also a built-in synth with pretty impressive specs as shown below. You can also play your voice or any other instrument through it like a guitar amp. There's a separate gain control and a dedicated delay effect specifically for this purpose.

So if you've got a midi controller keyboard, the MT300S provides everything else you need to access great sounds, hear them out loud and even record them to midi. All in a very portable package.
You're really getting 3 items in 1:

A strong synth with great specs
An amp / desktop monitor system
A midi sequencer to record, save and playback your music

The unit is in excellent condition and the cable and manual are included.

"The classic now with updated cpu, lightning fast envelopes and knob twiddling with no noticable stepping! Besides the usual cosmetic issues of a 30 year old machine, everything about this p600 works flawlessly. Keys all trigger as they should, membrane buttons are 100% and a joy to use, and since ive had it the knobs and switches all great from a few treatments of deoxit faderlube..."

Elastic Drums for iPhone Released

Published on Dec 11, 2014 Oliver Greschke

iTunes: Elastic Drums - O-G-SUS

"*** Introduction price 3,99$ instead of 7,99$ ***

Elastic Drums is a music app with 6 channels of synthesized drum sounds, a step sequencer and 4 fx channels, all tweakable in an elastic way. The sound range is from analog "oldschool" beatbox to the weirdest effect drone soundscapes.

Features:
- 6 synth channels with 10 different percussion synth engines (kick, snare, hit, clap, tom, ... fm, grain)
- 12 parameters for each synth engine
- automation for each parameter via knob recording or velocity
- 4 send effect channels with 2x11 mono effects and 2 x 9 stereo effects
- automation for all of the 8 possible effect parameters via xy pad
- master effects (stutter, delay, compressor ...)
- 16 step sequencer for the 6 channels, each with it's own tempo multiplier & length
- record audio and export to Soundcloud or Audioshare
- email audio recordings and presets
- iOS 8 supported

Because all sounds get generated in realtime, the app is cpu heavy! iPhones 5 and greater can handle it with no problem, on iPhone 4s and iPad 2 effects 3 and 4 get switched off by the engine automatically to save some cpu power.

Plans for upcoming versions:
- genuine iPad version (landscape instead of portrait)
- Audiobus support
- IAA support
- midi support
- new sequencer features (rolls, etc.)
- new synth engines (tom tom, sampler, etc)"

EigenD : Modular Synth Tutorials

Published on Dec 16, 2014 Mark Harris

Playlist:

1. EigenD : Modular Synth (part 1)

"The first of a series of videos where I show how to use EigenD as a modular synth.
In this part, I cover all the basics from a blank setup, attaching a controller, a single oscillator and a ladder filter, all with individual note modulation.

if you follow the video, add a vst reverb to the result (see my VST video for how), and you will be surprised how good it sounds... I'll add that native reverb in the next part!

In future parts we will be adding more oscillator, modulation, fx.. a true modular synth, all for free :o)"

2. EigenD : Modular Synth (part 2)

"Published on Dec 18, 2014
In part 2, we move on from a very basic synth to something with a bit more 'body', initially by adding the EigenD convolution reverb agent,
then adding a second oscillator, which we then control the detune 'per note'.
Finally, we attach the ladder filter to a global strip controller.
Doing the above, we learn about the important 'ranger' agent, and also get an introduction into connection channels.

At this stage we can already start to hear, how even simple patches being controlled with individual key control can become expressive, as the player can create the movement, so often 'automatically' done in synthesisers with LFOs and envelope, here we bring the musician back into that equation.

The impulse responses mentioned in this video are Diego Stocco's Rhythmic Convolutions - available here: http://www.diegostocco.com/ffs-rhythm...

(Check out his FFS series, I really enjoyed watching them)"

3. EigenD : Modular Synth (part 3)

"In Part 3 I introduce a sub oscillator,
how to create an LFO and use it for pulse width modulation, and the use of AHDSR envelopes.

This should give the users all the tools need to get started.
Now the basics are out the way, the series will move on to tips and tricks, and also exploring some more complex setups which use these (and other) components in interesting ways.

they will released every 3-4 weeks, as and when Ive something interesting to show
If you have ideas/suggestions of what you would like to see let me know.
