Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 Improvisation L (50)

Published on Jun 4, 2015 Sacred Synthesis

"Let me be the first to say that this improvisation is typical of the other pieces on this channel. It's only more of the same. But I wanted to demonstrate again the strengths of the Prophet '08 Keyboard.

This piece was played - except for the bass - entirely on ONE Prophet '08 Keyboard. In other words, it uses a split setting. The sound on the left hand is a pulse width modulation organ tone, and the sound on the right hand is a classic sawtooth lead. This is where the Prophet '08 excels - in making these standard, classic, traditional, old school analog sounds. And this is precisely why I like the instrument so much.

Another detail worth noting: this setting uses the Output B jacks on the back of the instrument. The organ sound is panned at the mixer to one side, and the sawtooth lead is panned to the other. This allowed for a stereo depth with a single instrument, and it also allowed me to process each sound differently. Reverb was added to both sounds, but delay was appropriately added only to the sawtooth lead.

Instrumentation:
DSI Prophet '08 Keyboard
DSI Evolver Desktop
Hammond XPK 200L

Reverb from Lexicon MX300
Delay from Alesis Nanoverb 2

Performed live and recorded directly to CD.

All music property of Sacred Synthesis."

Din Sync DrumDokta2 Firmware Update 1.2

via Din Sync:

"Whats new:

RESET BEHAVIOUR
Added the ability to change the reset behaviour. Some users have reported the clock lagging by a 16th when clocked from Circadian Rhythm or Trigger Riot. This was due to the way the reset was handled. The new mode fixes this.

To change the reset behaviour, hold shift at power on to toggle. The step led will briefly show either steps 1-4 lit for the old reset behaviour or steps 5-8 for the new reset behaviour.

CLEAR MEMORY (formerly present but undocumented)
Holding bank and powering on the DrumDokta2 will erase all the contents of the memory. Please use this with caution as there is no undo from this.

Updating the firmware can be done using audio into the clock in jack, in most cases the file will need to be amplified (it is unlikely to work from a smartphone without boosting).

you can download the new firmware here DD2_FM1.2.zip"

Ribbon Controller and Darbuka "Rumeli Karsilama" by Yuichi Onoue & Yuzo Hisada

Ribbon Controller and Darbuka "Rumeli Karsilama" by Yuichi Onoue & Yuzo Hisada(自作楽器 リボンコントローラー)

Published on May 29, 2015 TorigoyaSound

In this video, Yuichi Onoue plays his handmade ribbon controller. It can change a oscillator pitch smoothly, depending on the place which you press down. It was originally made as a kind of MOOG SYNTHESIZER's controller in late 60's. I made this following its example. And playing style is self-taught.  You can find previous posts featuring TorigoyaSound here.

Published on Jun 4, 2015 rezfilter

"Here's a quick jam session with the Analogue Solutions Megacity 64 step Tear Drop sequencer.

The mode switch is being toggled live to create varying patterns and timings, producing some interesting elements that could be foundational song elements.

Yes, it's a mobile record session!

Megacity is driving both synths and providing clock source to the drum modules.

New Animodule Line_Amp Eurorack Module

via Animodule

"Check out AniModule's Line to Synth Level Converter.

2 Channels of 1 in <--> 2 Out.

Each channel is designed to multiply your input by *3 to boost your Line Gear / Tablet / Phone so you can integrate audio OR Control Voltages from your auxiliary systems.

Each channel's input is designed with Line Level gear's input impedance in mind.
Perfectly compatible with Synth Output Impedances, but the standard Synth Input Impedance is higher than Line level equipment is expecting.

Don't need to amplify your XPhone right this minute?
Never fear! Just Hit the Switch!
This module won't sit unused in your cabinet breeding resentment and dust bunnies.
Hit the switch and that channel becomes a normal 2 HP Unity Gain Buffered Mult.
Only need one channel of each? It's YOUR Choice"

Two Elektron Octatrack Tracks by Paul Shemyakin

Kenza Farah - "Toi Et Moi" (Elektron Octatrack + Analog Four Remix)

Published on May 31, 2015 Paul Shemyakin

Second track below.

"This is my remix of the very sentimental song “Toi Et Moi” written by my favorite French singer – Kenza Farah.

The remix was created using hardware synthesizer and sampler - Elektron Analog Four + Elektron Octatrack DPS-1. No software was used for remix creation, performance and recording. Yes, these Swedish Elektron machines can be used for creating the complete pop-music composition :)

This is a short description of how it’s been made. During the composition only 15 patterns are used. Octatrack & Analog Four are synced for pattern changes. Octatrack is in Arranger Mode (automatically switches patterns for me).

Tracks:

A. Elektron Octatrack (15 patterns, 6 scenes):

TR1: Kick + Clap / One Shot Samples, FX - Filter+Dark Verb
TR2: Hats
TR3: Sliced Loop (different slices&locks per step, linear slice locks function was used for cutting and rearranging the drum loop)
TR4: Pad (loop)
TR5: “Toi Et Moi” original track (Piano+Vocal only), stretched by Octatrack to 95 bpm.
TR6: FX slices from original track + Periodical Additional Melodic/Reversed Loops + Crash (Crash is programmed with one shot triggers, activated by Function+YES during performance)
TR7: Additional loop – Acoutic Drums & Breaks Loops
TR8: Master Track (FX1 – Filter, FX2 – compressor in parallel, mix 50/50)

B. Elektron Analog Four (15 patterns):

TR1: Pluck Lead
TR2: Arp/Pluck Lead
TR3: Bass
TR4: Lead
+ 3 performance mode settings (A: TR1+TR2 filter opening/closing, B: TR3 filter opening + decay time, C: TR4 – Filter Opening+Reverb Send Amount)

Original track is from Kenza Farah’s album Authentik.
Thank you, Kenza, for the inspiration and great song!
Lots of Respect from Moscow, Russia. ;)

Enjoy! ;-)"

Elektron Octatrack Trance & Breaks Remix Live (Neonim - "Grenadin")

Published on Jun 13, 2012 Paul Shemyakin

Good overview on this one.

"SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH
Remix starts at 3:00! (please, skip my bla-bla-bla).

This track is the example that you can make the whole track using only two devices, and the Octatrack can be used as DAW - playing beats, vocal samples, doing some midi sequence.. Very cool, magical device!

Thank you for watching!"
